Got it to the gate where it will be looked at by federal investigators, the aircraft as well as the tire. The remaining passengers. Were talking 249 crew and passengers. They were put on another aircraft and then finally taken to osaka japan. So lots going on. Police say the suspect in the chase shot and killed a woman at a home in pleasanton. And then after that led police on a chase that shut down 5. 80, right near stanley and for some. They say the situation is very sad, but theyre grateful the threat is over a little bit strange and shocking. Thats how people live in this neighborhood described what happened thursday. Saginaw circle near santa rita road and west lost see does boulevard covered crime scene tape amid a murder suicide investigation this morning around 11 oclock i some bangs, apparently there was a gunshot at that time. I didnt recognize it as a quest on. This woman who didnt want to appear on camera. Says she was home in pleasanton. Police responded and found the victim dead with multiple gunshot wounds. That was a swath when they came in. She says shes lived in this complex since 1997, but she has never seen a Police Presence like this one. The shooting was then almost immediately followed by a police chase. There are requesting assistance. Their officers were actively in pursuit of a known a murder suspect on 5. 80. That pursuit ended in san leandro. Near the benedict drive exit, the driver died from a selfinflicted gunshot wound. The suspect vehicle while him pursue. Crash. And at that point, there was a high risk staff as well as the standoff for approximately 30 minutes. It was determined that the suspect had to come to his own injuries. I saw on the news earlier. The 5. 80, was shut down. And i said, thats crazy. Thats a major freeway shut down for hours. Then i came home to see police tape around her neighborhood and found out that it was related. Tim parks as he chose to live here in pleasanton because its a safe community. He never expected anything like this. He says hes not sure who the suspect or the victim. Its i dont know who live there. Maybe i saw them, but i dont know if i know who does or not, it just a disturbed guy. Didnt know how to control his emotions. I guess its only thing goes through my mind. Pleasanton police is handling the murder investigation. Again, there is no threat to the public at this time. Kevin as she deserve be back in court along gilbert hershel hale and Shadihia Mitchell face arraignment 8. 30 this morning. Kevin, as she was shot and killed in november of 2021. While protecting a kron for news crew in oakland, all 3 men face murder charges as well as charges of attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Its 706, in the east bay. Some parents of uc Berkeley Students are fed up. Theyre concerned about safety for their students. So theyre taking the matter into their own hands. And it all got together. These parents say that they have had enough essentially putting together a Pilot Program for private security to surround uc berkeley. And again, its going to be called safe bears. And its going to last for the next 2 weeks and take place during the overnight hours, making sure that students dont fall victim to the citys crime issues. Weve got a map up on your screens. You can see just exactly where that private security is set to be placed. Theyre going to be there between the hours of 6, 30 at night until 03 00am. And it was chosen based off of crime reports that were done in the last 6 months. You can see its a square shaped area and it runs about 5 blocks long from bancroft way all the way down to dwight way. That also along Piedmont Avenue in total, theres going to be 6 security ambassadors. Theyre all going to be wearing bright colors and be assigned to different areas with one that will make rounds on a bike. Theyre being paid and organized by parents privately that say enough is enough when it comes to the areas crime in the overall goal is to put pressure on uc berkeleys administration to get something similar put in place. The safety ambassadors all have california guard cards. However, they will not be armed at all and they will not be carrying pepper spray batons, handcuffs or any other defense equipment, essentially because their purpose is to be physical deterrence as they roam the area and also escort students from one place to another. This Pilot Program will end on saturday march 23rd. As of right now, parents have a goal of raising 300,000 for this initiative, but theyve only raised about 40,000.
