Were back 9. 15, the time as we take a live look outside behind us at the barca darrow this morning. Yeah, things are really clear. It still chris brisk. Now youre hitting the road really from the getgo. John today. Good morning. Yeah, definitely a cold one out there so far today. And with those 30s 40s that we had earlier on, theyre not sticking around, though. Temperatures are already climbing. Because of all the sunshine that we have from the north coast to the bay itself on up into the sierra. We have nice clear skies out there. This ist something that isnt going to hold all week long. So today, tomorrow, hopefully get a chance to enjoy it as much as you can. Coastal areas just as clear as our interior. We are seeing a modest wind out of the north today. It is a definitely a crisp morning, but a comfortable enough afternoon skies remain clear overnight tonight and into tomorrow. More of those clear skies. We will start to see a bit of an increase in cloud cover towards your wednesday night. And then thursday afternoon comes along with this right here. Our next storm system in a cold one at that sweeping its way in from the northwest. Going to be a huge snow maker in the sierra and for the bay area going to result in a decent amount of rainfall for us too. Over the weekend from thursday night into saturday, the bacon see over an inch of rain while areas like santa rosa could get up to 3 inches of rain. So that is a pretty decent amount for sure. This year, though, its another story entirely Donner Summit fully expecting at least 5 feet of snowfall in off up not to about 9 feet. This is going to really likely completely halt travel up into the sierra for multiple days starting friday into saturday, especially 5 to 12 feet of snowfall above 5,000 feet in elevation and snow falling to 1500 feet in elevation by saturday morning. Thats actually low enough that will see snow likely in the bay area for some of our mountain peaks like mount Diablo Mission peak areas like that. As for today, it is going to be a mild one ahead of that storm. Low 60s for your daytime highs tomorrow. Much the same storm arrives late in the day on thursday. Stays with us into saturday right now. Im john, thank you for that check in on highways. Bridges 60 minute ride into the city right now. Youre taking a sevenday average around. 26 80 to 101. Richmond, sandra fell bridge just under 13 minutes. And the Golden Gate Bridge 37 to the tolls. 32 minutes. Time now to talk winners and losers on wall street financial expert rob black with us this morning on a tuesday. What are you seeing on the markets, rob . Little bit of a man. We hit record highs last week, which is great for the s p 500 for the Dow Jones Industrial average. The nasdaq 100. So the market to do it, especially theyre just not supposed to hit highs every day. Now, a lot of expectations are for when Interest Rates are cut. And that expectation now is the leader. So rates will be higher longer. Great for savers. Not so great for small caps, a mid caps. I expect smallcaps mid caps really outperformed the market. After the fed starts cutting Interest Rates until then. Texans be the as long as as well financial services. Macys up 5 today. Theyre closing 150 stores lows up 5 . The earnings revenue expectations. Thursday is big day this week, james. Thats when the pce to choose how much our wages and how are spending are doing. Thats one of the gauges. The fed looks set for inflation and we expect bounce and inflation make a ping pong ball. Halloween but comes back up a little bit less strong than falls again. Comes back up a little less than strong. Interesting and i dont know if you heard this sort of just coming into the newsroom in the last. 10, 15 minutes or so. But i guess sony is going to be letting go upwards of like 900 employees. Sony entertainment for their for the gaming division. So i dont what impact thats going to have. Just another, you know, another news of a more tech on the one hand, youve got people being laid off and on the other hand stories i may be creating more jobs at some point in the tech sector here around the bay. Who knows where its going to go. But thats sort of the latest this morning. But sony story, i think theres a sony office in redwood city or san carlos somewhere that area they dont have the big job cuts. London is getting shut down, completely studio south playstation 5. Not something that well, they think its underperforming. Thats pretty amazing. Ok, lets get to our first story this morning. Home prices, i guess, heading a new hi. According to last years numbers, right . Whats the detail on that . Discouraging. I think i have a dozen loser today because if you dont own a home, its a struggle. If you own a home, youre happy. But in the bay area are still seeing price drops in cities like San Francisco. For the nation come home. Prices are up 6. 1 in december, the whole year of 2023. Up 5. 5 . Thats higher than the average 35 year average on how much home prices move. Historically home prices moved 4 a year. So 5. 5 pretty high. The average home or the median home. Theres a difference. The median home sold 42 before 20,700. I think i you know, im a spit like that one because it has the number for 20 in it. On top of that 2021, saw homes up 19 , which is crazy. Loco and 2020 home prices are up 10 to the pandemic. La detroit and san diego with the huge winners, a la and san diego, california champa bay serious about 8, 3, 8, 0, 3, 8. 5 . And portland and dallas and denver where underperformance, but they were still up 0 in 2 and a half percent. Okay. And then on the flip side of that, weve car prices. Coming down when it was going nuts here for awhile, especially with supply shortages and step of the pandemic, used car prices were going through. The roof was kind of wacky, but things are starting to settle now. Yeah. Prepandemic cars. New car will cost you 37,000. Now its 47,000. But last year was 50,000. So prices are coming down about 3,000, but its noticeable with higher wages that we all got. Not that we all got excuse me. Most people guided the United States last few years. With a higher Interest Rates and higher car cost payments on a new car. 33 higher than they were 3 years ago. Analysts expect price of the car prices drop another 3 from current levels. So from 47,000 to about 45,500 by the end of the year of know, if youre an investor, this is important news. I dont invest an auto company. Is prepandemic . We sold about 17. 5 million cars per year. Last year was about 15. 5 million. So were moving in the right direction because the year before we get back to normal Companies Like ford, gm and tesla will have very good years ahead. Were not back to normal quite yet. Not just yet. Okay. And then one last but curve ball at you. I dont know if you heard the story. We did it earlier in the show this morning. Wendys says next year theyre going to experiment kind like what uber does de
