Stabbing. Thank you for joining us on kron. 4 news at noon. Im Catherine Heenan and im stephanie lin. That stabbing happened earlier this morning. One person is dead. 2 story all morning. There she is a tiffany. Shes live at the saint. What are you hearing . Right. We have spoken with neighbors who have lived here for 10 plus years. They tell us that they are shocked that this happened. Union city police now investigating this as a murder. Let me go ahead 7. Its so you guys can see exactly what is going on here. There are several Police Officers here that pitch to 10. So we do believe that theyll be here for several more hours gathering, more information and evidence. But heres what we have gathered here on scene. Union city police saying that they were called to this area of alameda boulevard tropicana way on a report of a person stabbed. They say once they arrived, they found 3 victims, all of them with injuries. One was declared dead here on scene. The 2 others were taken to a nearby hospital, but theyre expected to be okay. However, police are telling us that theyre still looking for the suspect. That suspect is still on the run at this time. But they say the motive is still under investigation, but there is also no known threat to the community. Neighbors. We spoke to very taken aback by what happened today. Youre for over 9 years. This is the first time weve ever had this much. Police activity that isolated incidents over course time. But this is trying to stir bing. We dont usually get. Whats exciting . Our quiet little community. Its disturbing and a little frightening. We have had flux. Incidents over the last several months. Again, police are telling us that one person is dead. 2 other victims were taken to a nearby hospital. Police are investigating a motive at this time. But theyre saying is that there is no known threat to this community are greater area. Back to you. And me, it sounds like they have no idea at least at this point has to. Why it happened. Exactly. Theyre still trying to determine why it happened. The motive, you detectives officers right behind us gathering more information here on the scene. And were going to continue to follow this story throughout the day as well. Back to you. All right, tiffany, thank you very much. Now to our other big story San Francisco. Hundreds of people are gathering for the Memorial Service. For the late senator Dianne Feinstein and Dianne Feinstein died last thursday at the age of 90. She was the longest serving female senator in history and she broke gender barriers in local and national she would become the citys first female mayor after mayor jorge. My school any was gunned down alongside supervisor harvey milk at city hall and find said would go on to become a key figure in policy discussions for decades. And were looking at the scene, of course, and this is where she began her political careered more than 50 years, stephanie, which is a incredible were hearing that the Vice President , Kamala Harris, is there. Theyre expecting, as you know, stephanie, about 1500 people. And thats been a little confusing because it first they were saying members of the public could kind of fill in the edges of this Memorial Service. Then there was a fairly abrupt change, has security restrictions. And now this invited guests. Im like, yeah, absolutely. Were hearing about 1500 invited guests on the list who are expected there today. And we dont do know that Kamala Harris is on the list of people expected to speak at the service is well, catherine. Yeah, and i were giving us a quick look at the airport i was lets go to Chuck Clifford because a chuck has been out there. Hes been on the scene. Check people are beginning at least from what we can tell from that. Big wide shot there. Theyre beginning to arrive. What do you say . Well, right now, right in front of San Francisco city hall sort of on the civic center side. Theyve set up hundreds of chairs and the Memorial Service along polk street actually on polk street between market in mcallister, close down all of civic center. And they finished the set up. And as you mentioned, were starting to see a guest trickle trickle we havent seen any a elected official show up yet. As you know, theres quite a few on the way now. As for the service, it start itself. That starts at 1 oclock. Were expecting it will begin with San Francisco mayor london breed speaking and then there will a video statement from President Biden and then Vice President Kamala Harris who is arriving at sfo this morning and is expected to be here. She will speak. And then were also expecting Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer to speak as well along san nancy pelosi. She was a longtime friend of senator feinstein. There could be many other elected officials here. Weve heard that senator alex padilla could be here as well, along with former San Francisco mayor willie brown and former senator Barbara Boxer actually joined the senate the same year that Dianne Feinstein did. Now, this is a very appropriate place to hold her Memorial Service. As you mentioned, she had a long political that began here in San Francisco. She was mayor here for over a decade sometimes and she was in the u. S. Senate for 3 decades. More than that. And sometimes when senators or congressman pass away, theyll have services at the u. S. Capitol, but her family apparently felt it was more appropriate to have those things held here in San Francisco. Now the Service Starts at 1 oclock. It runs were expecting it to run about an hour. And then at some point later today, wee understand there will be a private burial with family and friends in attendance now security security is very tight here in Civic Center Plaza Kamala Harris, Vice President Kamala Harris is arriving. Weve also got the secret service here. So weve got a lot of media, a lot of security. This is closed to the public, but its Civic Center Plaza. So you might see a lot of people sort of along the edges watching whats going on now. Were going to stay here for the next hour. Have another report coming up at 12, 30 kind of an update on whats happening. See if anybody else arrives for the service. But for now in San Francisco, Charles Clifford kron, 4 news check before you go. Were just letting you know that were watching the Vice President her husband. Have a just arrived and theyre being greeted there talking to people. So she youre right. She did just get here. And let me ask you this. You mention secret service it alex padilla is also there. Theyll be a lot of people live showing up and maybe a few that we dont necessarily expect, chuck, theyre thats probably where you are. One of the safest places in the city of not the state. There is an awful lot of security, there is. So they basically closed off the side of San Francisco city hall, all of Civic Center Plaza week of the San Francisco Fire Department out here got the San Francisco Police Department and the secret service. This is a very tight perimeter. We have seen people ocular up on top of. So surrounding buildings here in ciza keeping an view on whats happeni security, very a lot of me. Had to go metal ctors in th before we can be al section room, which is right next to the meorial servi. So security very tight. Theyve also got Emergency Personnel sort of on standby here. In case something. So theyre keeping a very tight lid on, you know, to this area, at least for the next hour or 2. While the service continues, catherine. Thank you, chuck. And setting the california delegation has arrived big chunk of it anyway is and were seeing a number of them on the screen as well. Of course, you mentioned alex padilla, california senator alex padilla and his wife, angela, there her shortly after feinsteins passing that, you know, we heard a senator giving some emotional remarks about his relationship with the late sen. Im talking about how you know, she had basically help given him his first shot at politics when he worked at her office in los angeles. We also know on scene at the airport right now, maxine waters, representative maxine waters, a barber lee congresswoman barbara, barbara lee, jared huffman, a scott peters and im told adam schiff is also president s well as swalwell is there too. Okay. So the voice off to my his political analyst, michael yaki, who is doing a really good job spotting faces and names. So youre saying . Did we miss anybody . Michael . No, but its always a great, a honored to build to get the hitter right over air force, too, as we like to call to. I mean, this is indication if the house vote hadnt occurred the way that it did, a lot of members want to be able to come come back because mccarthy had said he was not going to allow people time to attend the service today. Yeah, i i was going to ask you about that. It was kind of an odd little footnote as to what was going on yeah, i mean, if the senate has adjourned early. And youre going see large number of the senators coming in today. Not just chucks, chuck. Sure. And not just a former senators like Barbara Boxer, but the new senator finds a butler will be here. The senator feinsteins replay. Doesnt the replacement who was sworn in on tuesday. So, you know, youll see a good chunk of her colleagues are going to come here and pay tribute to the late great senator feinstein. All right. So we know the answer. But stephanie, lets ask michael anyway, why was believed to be important to do this here . And not washington, d. C. , well. Was a question of whether its important do it here versus dc she had the opportunity to lie in state in the capitol. Her her record being the longest serving female senator in america and United States history being the first woman chair of rules of of intelligence and judiciary. All those things clearly game for the ability to have that honor. But she wanted here in San Francisco. This is her place. This is her home. This this was her touchstone. This was her. This was the birth of her political careers. Ive never seen any politician. In my life from what we have is a senator who had that much. I would i would call assertive. Continuing interest in in her home district. She when i was on the board of supervisors in the u. S. Commission on civil rights. She would always ask whats going on in San Francisco and that just kind of whats going she was heard asking about individual Little Things going on. Like what did you think that one thing to out that ballot proposition that you understand a case why are those people doing that . And was something i mean, she was very proud of her role on the board. Seems it gave are it gave her her start and she loved being mayor and your today. I just think its its so appropriate that its fleet this week, something that she started, you know, 42 years ago and and then theyre going to be honoring her this week as well. So this home. This is her homecoming. This is where she won. Wanted to be want to be remembered and certainly i think for her her greatest accomplishment in her life. I think she believes was what she was able do as mayor of San Francisco. She did great things as senator. No doubt about it. But she was so proud. Ive heard of what she did was able to do for and with the people of San Francisco. Yeah. And so the Memorial Service, michael, stephanie beginning and what roughly. 45 minutes as people continue to gather very tight security. And we will continue with and we will continue with more coming up after a break. Estado dorado always in that state of mind living on a high vibration so hot gonna make it melt and im lovin what im tastin que bonito lugar lleno de tanto sabor so much flavor un future brillante se acerca ahhhhhhh nos gusta mezclar como malteada aqui hay lugar yeah we livin in the golden state dame mas, fresco y real wooh dale gas vive en el Estado Dorado feinstein for and broke for so many other revenue every single day in the work we do in the it it may the kind of minor, but of course it is. And when you think about when i got to the senate, there was already a network of women, senators bipartisan who welcomes new women into the senate with regular dinners, regular advice, regular council. We could see dianes example and it made us understand that we could you know, really represent our states or attempt to at the level she did california. And thats a magnet. And thats to be okay. Shes the senator from New Hampshire speaking. Providing some as we continue our coverage of the Funeral Service of late senator Dianne Feinstein. We also know that Senate Majority leader and new york senator Chuck Schumer is also there offering remarks to the media as well. And on your screen, you can also see the flag being flown at outside of city hall again, were listening to Maggie Hansen from the senator from New Hampshire. Talk about and on the small inner personal been. She took care of all of you know, just one little and too personal story. My daughter came here to work right out of college. That was september. And out of the blue dye and called up and said wish what shes doing for the high holy days. And i said, well, she just around, she says shes coming with to go to or synagogue and at dinner with her and everything. Thats who she was said or what you think you were do that. I like those a little personal stories. It was a Chuck Schumer talking about how time she was to hit his daughter when she was a working it congress. Michael yaki, youve got lots behind the scenes stories. But let me ask you about the fact that she had powerful matriarchal vibe. But you say she was also warm and could be a very funny and and kind. There was the professional diane worked perfection. You know, she wanted people to do good everything the way they should be doing it from my my dear late friend had chief of staff. It was a source of i will call the grief, but something where he would always like, oh, my god, i got to do got to do that. Was always running around dealing with but at the personal level, she was warm. She was charming and she wanted to help people. And i think that the motivation for perfection came from the fact that she won it to help people, whether its the people, San Francisco, where there is hiv aids epidemic at the time went when it was being ignored by at the fat that at the federal level by by ronald reagan, whether it was a the plate he she uplift a lot of people, asianamerican community. When i was when i here and so this is something where, you know, you sort of there is there were 2 sizes were arch, all all people who are were great and the warm side with something i saw. Personally a lot. I mean, one of favorite things that my wife and always look forward to was hurt was dianes christmas party. Im at and presidio terrace. It was just decorated to the hilt. It was small. It was intimate. She would like to say to me when i came you know, i didnt invite all your colleagues early by the ones i liked it. And it was just a wonderful place to be. It was warm. It was festive. And she was just the greatest host and always made. Mean, my wife feel welcome wherever we were. When when we saw her. But, you know, she was someone who got things done and and, you know, its one of those things where we just the lake of her kind, someone who who believe in bipartisanship who took a lot of grief for being in the center and but understand she was in the center by choice. She was in the center by decision. She is someone who who in any other part of the country would thought of as a raging Lefty Lefty Lefty liberal right . Only in San Francisco was during her reign rain as mayor. That started to come out. But being in the center was where she felt you could get policy done. You could bring people together, get the votes, make things happen. And thats what she did. You know, we talk about the fact that she navigated that fine line, artfully, i thought with poise. Absolutely. I mean, just think things are we take for granted. Amber alerts on our phones. Every time we get that, get those rings. That the National Network of the amber alert was a bipartisan effort between her and Kay Bailey Hutchinson in texas. And when we saw megan has an of of of New Hampshire. Lets lets no
