And you can see behind me there are all of these cars here. All of these people come october will have to go all the way antioch to the nearest target location. Thats about 8 miles from here. Target said in a statement they cannot keep operating these storms because of theft and organized retail crime. They say they feel both their team and the guests are at risk. Its contributing to an unsustainable business. Target says they made attempts to stop thieves but were unsuccessful. Target is closing their stores on folsom street in San Francisco, on broadway in oakland and here in pittsburgh. I was shocked when a first listen to the news and i say they were close in the first thing my husband was they dont close our store in, of course, popped up on the news it. The 3 Bay Area Stores arent the only ones that are closing. Target will also closed 3 stores in portland, oregon. 2 in seattle and one in east harlem, new york. He argues his management track record there along with lots of city project means he can get things done. I asked him, though, about some of the persistent problems the city, including people who absolutely refuse services and shelter. This is a block by block. Proposition. Were talking about first. You need to have enough shelter, pets, which we have not. We need enough shelter that. So that would be the first thing that i would do standup enough shelter beds. And then when you do offer someone a shelter bed and they refuse well, and if they say no, they have to move. And then its about making sure that the streets are for everyone there, not just for our unhoused neighbors, they are for the people, the citizens, the taxpayers of San Francisco. The agency that oversees the Financial Assistance program says it only applies to single adults between the ages of 18 to 65. 50. 200 people are receiving Cash Payments anywhere from 1000 to 700 a month. Right now people can qualify for the money by self declaring that they are suffering from Substance Abuse disorders. But under the mayors new plan, people will be required to be screened to prove their addiction to drugs and then to get into treatment. No word on how that process would actually go. Meantime, mayor breed says far too many people are refusing the available help out there. And theyre dying from drug overdoses. People are not accepting help. And so now its time to make sure. That were cutting off resources that continue to allow this behavior to occur with out the economy, without someone involved in a Treatment Program that could lead to a better life.
