San franciscos oldest lgbtq bar is getting a new home. The pandemic forced the stud to shut down for 3 years. But as kron 4 Charles Clifford tells us this Iconic Institution now has a new home. Well, for almost 6 decades, the study was a San Francisco lgbtq institution to close down a few years ago. But there was a dedicated group of people that never gave up on it and soon it could reopen in this venue along folsom street. The original study on 9th street closed in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Since then, a group called the stud collective, which is the Worker Cooperative that owns the stud has been searching for a new venue for the bar. On tuesday. They announced that they have signed a lease to move the stud to this building on the corner of lincoln and folsom streets. We looked long and hard to find a place that was worthy of the studs legacy. The study is one of San Franciscos most iconic venues. It is almost 60 years old. And for those 60 years and has been bringing arts and culture and music and nightlife to the community here in the south of market, even though they have found a new home for the bar. San Francisco Mayor london breed has promised that the city will try to make things go smoothly. This time is a legacy business. And our hope is to make sure that they qualify for even more city resources. Some of you know, about first year free. And our plan is to make sure that the city fees and all of the things that you have to pay the city in order to open a Small Business that those things are waived.
