The westbound lanes of i80 between solano and contra costa counties has been closed. Caltrans expecting to reopen them tuesday morning. But those returning to the bay area today will face a detour around the roadwork kron. 4 Charles Clifford has an update on that work being done. Charles . Yeah. Caltrans says that they are on schedule to reopen westbound tomorrow morning. However, we are starting to see some backup on the detour which goes through benicia and that could get worse as we head into the evening hours. Westbound lanes of interstate 80 between 7. 80, in vallejo on highway 4 in hercules were closed down last thursday evening on friday, caltrans tore up several miles of the westbound lanes. And then over the weekend they poured fresh concrete. And now on monday, they are waiting for that concrete to harden. Last night our crews were able to finish that last concrete pour. So now were playing the waiting game tonight. Concrete. Here. Get our strikers and a stripe. The newly repaved weston corridor between 0, 4, incoming skyway, that 3 mile stretch. And so, yeah, hes right now as were on schedule reopen the highway at 05 00am on tuesday. For anyone using interstate 80 to return to the bay area on monday afternoon or monday evening. You will be rerouted long, 7. 80, through benicia across nation. Martinez bridge onto highway 4 and then back west on 2. 80. Caltrans is also hoping the drivers returning to the bay area will use alternate routes and avoid the detour altogether. Really great corridors. Take interstate 5 tooh. 5, tough it back into the city for the folks who are, you know, vacation in from a sonoma and napa. A great rally say i680 down to highway. 24 back into the city again, just to know before they go plan ahead. There are out once again, the westbound lanes of 80 are expected to be reopened by 5 tuesday morning. All right, back live. Now, caltrans that after the westbound lanes reopened, there are no full closures of 80 expected as part of this project. Although they say from time to time, they may need to close down at least one lane to do some striping or Electrical Work out on the bridge. A person was shot near lake merritt in oakland around 12, 30 this afternoon. You can see police and First Responders tending to a person lying on the pavement, their next to the water. This video is from the citizen app. It happened on the western side of the lake where madison street meets lakeside drive. Thats just across the street from the lake merritt apartments and across the water from the lake merritt gardens, Emergency Personnel to take the victim to the hospital. We do not know what their condition is. Oakland police say theyre investigating. Theyre asking for anyone with information to contact them. Lets talk about our forecast. Taking a live look outside from our mount tam cam. Quite a bit of fog hanging over the headlands and just across the bay kron. Meteorologist kyla grogan here with more details on what folks can expect on this back half of their Labor Day Holiday. Yeah, talk a little bit about what happened in burning man 2. So lets start with where we are right now, which is to say that were getting some sunshine out there, getting some clearing. Youre taking a live look at the embarcadero. And i want to talk about whats going on burning man. You can see that low pressure system that brought them. All of that rain now is tracked off to the east. But lets take you back a little bit, too. What happened there and this is where they are. So its about 140 miles north of reno. If i lose this back and we take it back to thursday, you see this front tracking through getting into friday. All of this rain just starting to stream through right into saturday. It was all from that system to the northwest of us. The track through kind of cooled us down. So that was the problem is youve got dry ground and youve got all this rain coming down so quickly. And so it cant be absorbed into the ground quickly. Unfortunately, in the desert and it starts to pond and you get flooding and then you a great if youre out there. So again, the good news is there. Have you better run of it today as this low pressure system has now moved away from them . So today theyre trying to get folks out and they should do okay with it. Having said that, there is a little tiny bit more of a chance of a few showers as we get into tomorrow. No, doesnt look like anything thats going to be anywhere near what they were dealing with before. You know it to be a good idea for people to hopefully be able to get out today. Meanwhile, back in the bay, you can see weve got the marine layer is definitely large and in charge around the Golden Gate Bridge. But elsewhere, we are starting to get some sunshine out there. So San Francisco just at 65 degrees in oakland, still the upper 60s as well. But san jose in the upper 70s and we are getting a little bit warmer over in the inner east de santa rosa right now sitting at about 81 degrees. So today the high is only expected to be in lowes, low 80s for those of you inland. Thats about as much as were going to see. So still wellbelow average where we would be normally this time of year. And tonight see that marine layer roll right back in and bring in some of that coastal drizzle. And thats partly cloudy skies. Temperatures ranging between about 51 to 60 degrees. So not a bad looking night tonight, but certainly for going to be out and about just know it could have a little of that drizzle on the roads live. Look here from our mount tam cam. Those heavy rains created fick ankle, deep mud at the Festival Grounds making a way out a dangerous and difficult. One person did die over the weekend. There. Its not clear if that was weather related. Kron fours amanda hari spoke with someone still stuck and the madrid and desert. Its a different experience now, but its still great. Heavy rains have left thousands of people stranded at burning man, including San Francisco, pride executive directors whose and fork i was going to leave yesterday i hope to i hoped i was going to leave today, but it rained again this afternoon. So im probably not going to get out here till tomorrow night. Maybe the desert was hit with about 2 to 3 months worth of rain in just 24 hours between friday and saturday morning. You can see in the video that created a thick mud, difficult to walk or drive through. Event organizers closed the roads but some people still tried to leave either by driving in large vehicles are walking miles to the nearest town. Those who stayed were told to shelter in place and conserve food, water and fuel. Thank god. My friends who invited me very prepared. They were conserving a little bit. Were not were were not getting a committee snacks the days we might have. And were were conserving our water like everybodys checking to make sure you have enough fuel. Officers are looking for overly aggressive drivers and people driving under the influence over last years labor day weekend. Chp says they arrested more than 900 people for d y and 52 people were killed in crashes on our california roads. Meanwhile, police in nevado did arrest 3 people inside 16 others during a dui checkpoint on friday. That checkpoint was at the intersection of novato boulevard at low salon dress court. 15 people were cited for allegedly driving with a suspended or revoked license. And one person was cited for allegedly letting a suspended drive or operate a vehicle. Police say dui checkpoint locations are picked based on reported incidents of impaired related crashes. Gig workers gathered outside the crews. Driverless car headquarters in San Francisco today protesting against the companys neglect against workers and Numerous Accidents caused by the cars. The protesters say the multiple incidents involving pedestrians and drivers. Its only getting worse. Also speaking out against the replacement of rideshare workers and are calling on state leaders to enforce more restrictions on cruise cars. Emergency crews rescuing several people from the lake on saturday after a storm created some Hazardous Conditions there on the water. The Washoe CountySheriffs Office says several people had to be rescued in the hidden beach area as well as near secret cove. No injuries were reported, but definitely some rough waters out there. Were up into the low 80s in spots like livermore. So were warming up a little bit there. 80 in pittsburgh, which is 64 in berkeley right now and put a limit. Just said that 80 degree mark city getting a little bit of warming there as well. I was checking the airport. Things are running, ok, if youve got folks coming back from the long weekend. But as far as highs are concerned today, were going to stay below average. The normally we should be about 70 degrees in San Francisco this time of year when im going to get close to today. And you can see if you look inland, we should be kind of those upper 80s. Instead. Low 80s today. And thats where we shall stay. But one of the good things is we dont have anything dramatic happening with our weather, which means that were hanging on to some decent air quality today as well. You have that smoke kind of rolling down. We have northerly flow direction of the wind coming from the north last week. But thankfully weve got that onshore push still happening. And that is helping us out says you can see everybody in the green and that low pressure system has tracked off and that is certainly help to give u
