There what weve got here at center tower view, San Francisco getting a little clearer now. We did see some fog this morning. Its pretty much all but gone unless youre right along the coastline. Now temperatures are rising in doing so pretty quickly. Brett, what youre 84 and vacaville at 87 degrees getting close to that ninetydegree mark already definitely cooler along the bay shore in the coast in the 60s for most spots. So today is still hot but less hot. As we mentioned, highs still in the 90s inland. But we are going to be seeing no triple digits today. Really the rest of the forecast here locally, im talking all the details of which still ahead, back to you. All right. Thanks a lot, john. Now lets get back to our top story. We covered it live all morning yesterday. That standoff in san jose and now theres a resolution. Yeah. So the officer was responding to a family disturbance. Kron 4 was live as that tense situation unfolded minute by minute. This morning were learning more. Only about the man arrested but also about the officer and their condition. We have our Team Coverage this morning will tran and Michael Thomas are both. In san jose. Were going to get a will in a minute on the officers recovery. But first to michael, because you were there all morning yesterday and now you can tell us more about exactly what happened. Yeah, good morning, everyone. Talk about an intense situation. You know, and this morning a is the police are really calling this shooting an ambush on an officer. And when it comes to the man behind bars, will they say he is no stranger to police because hes a convicted felon who should have had a gun at all. Take a look. Weve got a photo of the gentleman that is now behind bars. His name is gabriel koreas and hes responsible for shooting a San Jose Police woman yesterday around 08 00am and he was finally taken into custody around 12, 30 yesterday afternoon. Take a look. Weve got video from yesterday seen this is at oconnor park around 9. 15, when we arrived in this park sits in the middle of a housing complex near race street in san jose. There were multiple police units circling the area along with a helicopter up top. There was a swat team in dozens of neighbors that were evacuated from their homes nearby. Now, Officials Say at the time 2 officers responded to the in the complex around 08 00am for a domestic dispute. A woman was saying that her husband was drunk and violent when the female officer approached the front area of the home, she was ambushed by the husband who then shot heard. Now that suspect then barricaded himself and his wife in the home for hours around 10 oclock. The wife was actually released to the police safely. But that has been barricaded himself for another 2 hours until about 12, 30 or so is when that convicted felon was arrested and taken into custody. Take a listen to what Police Officials had to say regarding situation. Officers face. Dangers every single day. They put on this uniform and badge. They know full well that they mean be confronted by such heartlessness and violence. Like did today. Yet they still go out and do exceptional work to keep our community safe. As we speak. Officers, your officers. Are out there has calls for Service Despite this tragic incident. Now, right now, according to public record, it does not show that any charges are listed. However, that gentleman is on no bail and hes set to appear in court for the first time tomorrow at noon. And just to give you more context, i was there firsthand seeing these officers respond. And when i tell you, they moved very swiftly. You could see the pain in their eyes as they were moving towards that. So they really, really did cover it in all angles. But thats a very latest here in san jose. And Michael Thomas, i will send it back to thank you, michael. And now lets continue and get a look at what happened to the officer. Will tran is covering that. Part of the story are recovering well. I did talk to the San Jose Police department and they tell me that she is still recovering and that is the good news. No fatality in all this could have been had it not been for the fast thinking of our partner. I can tell you also that she is a 10 year veteran of the San Jose Police department. So many officers coming into work talking to them. Of course, they are thinking about their call. Let me show you video. Those officers showing up to Santa Clara ValleyMedical Center throughout the day after they found out that one of their own was shot in the line of duty. Is the first time a female Police Officer in the history of the San Jose Police department was shot while performing her duty. We do know that it was a partner who rushed into action despite being shot at it was an ambush. Her partner grabbed dragged her to another location, administering cpr, put her into back of a squad car, met up with an ambulance. It was the ambulance with paramedics, of course, in the back trying to save her life. Racing to the hospital, raced or into surgery. She was wearing a bulletproof vest at the time. And we are hearing that she was shot outside of the bullet proof vest in the upper torso. We dont know exactly how many shots hitter, but of course, at least one shot hit her in the upper chest. She was rushed into surgery and the San Jose Police department per the request of her family not releasing her name at this particular time. As far as her partner . Well, we do know that he is also 10 year veteran of the San Jose Police department and he is related to a very popular councilmember. I skews me a lawmaker in the south bay Assemblymember Evan low. He says his older brother is his hero. Even more after what he did it. All right. Thanks a lot for the update. 10, 0, 6 right now.
