Start by getting a look at the weather with dave spahr payday morning. Stephanie, good morning, everybody. And were tale with a lot of fog to get things started to check it out. This is downtown, as you can see, just kind of covering over the tops of some of the buildings were seeing the same process going on along the east bay shoreline as well. With all that fog pretty much in place for right now. That will mix on will basically go mostly sunny. That includes San Francisco along the east bay shoreline as well, which is this is what it looks like right now. This is cooling fog. We certainly enjoy it when the summer months keeping those temperatures somewhat corrected with all of this. So a quick check into those temperatures right now. We have the lower 60s and hand. In fact, almost all of the bay is looking at the lower 60s for now, some upper 50s ahold. 57 going on for Half Moon Bay. Meanwhile, the contrast we had from 24 hours ago were trailing a few degrees this morning again, welcoming in some of this fog. Now, the satellite picture, you see the flare up of some some showers going on way out towards our easter would say into the rockies a little bit. Thats the leftover the monsoon. Dont let that fool you. If youre headed up to tahoe at all today, tomorrow, monday, even tuesday, expect those chance of afternoon evening thundershowers just add daytime heating 78, 11 oclock by 2 will do about 91. All right, dave, thank you. Breaking news this morning. Firefighters in Contra Costa County are on scene of a fouralarm fire burning in pittsburgh. These are images from con fire happening on east 10th street and an abandoned building. Officials are concerned the structure could collapse a building on east 9th street has been evacuated. Were working to gather more information and well keep you updated. And more breaking news from overnight. Dangerous wildfires continue to ravage hawaii. That death toll now at 80 making this the deadliest Natural Disaster in the u. S. Since the camp fire killed. 85 people and destroyed the town of paradise in 2018, the count in maui is expected to rise. Hundreds of people are still missing more than 1000 structures destroyed. And meanwhile, hawaiis attorney general plans to investigate the states response to the wildfires. Hawaii has about 400 emergency sirens across the state. But Officials Say those warning sirens did not go off. Instead, residents had to rely on alerts other mobile devices and local tv news and radio stations for information. But widespread power and cellular outages limited that outreach. Residents in la hina were allowed to go back home friday after fire ravaged that area. And this is what people saw, that what was once a lush green neighborhood with a Historic Downtown now destroyed. One resident says the flames came through so fast. There was nowhere to turn. Meantime, more bay area residents have managed to make it back from the islands. They landed at San Jose International airport last night greeted by loved ones and therapy dogs. A lot of people heart stopped and its and then 2 allies want to go home. Other bay area residents are still stranded in maui. A san carlos woman and her family landed theyre on tuesday and found themselves unknowingly headed right into the firestorm. People at the hotels theyre theyre all kind of trying to figure out how theyre going to make it back home and book flights back home. We spoke to some people that work in the hotels. And have family that live in la hina that lost their homes. And weve just you know, asking them, what can we do to help . Is there anything we can do . And they have such sense of community. They telling me that theyre going to all build. You know, though, come out of the stronger and they all help one another and will work this out together. And they said just you saying that you care means a lot to them. And she tells us if all goes as planned. She and her family are scheduled to fly back home to the bay area today. And yet another San Francisco Business Owner tells us that they are tired of breakins and burglaries. The burglar took 2000 in cash from the register and left another 1500 in damage. Im you know, should go to stuff out there. A lot of things going on that makes you think by like gotham city or as thats some pros come in. A spate says the crime was peculiar and done by what appears to be a professional instead of smashing the glass to get in the burglar removed. It dont even know how to explain. He says he loves his community, but its hard not to feel defeated when crimes like this happen, its even more challenging when trying to file a claim. That festival kicked off yesterday with some safety concerns. Kron fours gayle ong reports. Thousands of people descended on Golden Gate Park for the outside lands. The threeday Music Festival kicked off friday and so far pretty that fit the vibe. Person coming out. We always got 80 z 3 y 5, something differently to festival out. The festival kicked off with some safety concerns. Event. Organizers tweeted this around 5 friday evening writing in part a tent closed due to the safety of festival audience. In a statement outside lands says they need to make necessary repairs to the tent. One thing festival goers enjoyed a typical summer day in San Francisco. The outside lands. Way better festivals that ive gone to, which is dc cello. And so you can actually wear sweaters. I from a small town those about 2 hours away from here. Its really great. The cruiser event. Everything should start to be set up by 10 oclock this morning. And this is some video of last years event. You know, it is that time of year as students, parents, caregivers get ready for back to school and this event helps those in need. The Livermore Police department will have people out 4 locations today and tomorrow from 10 00am to 03 00pm collecting School Supplies for families in need in the Livermore Valley joint unified School District. And these are the locations they will be at today. And tomorrow, the office max at 2400 lost see this road livermore, cbs at 1500st street. The big lots at 44 84 loss see this road and the walmart location took 2700 las piscinas road here. Livermore, this joint School District is pretty big. The district serves more than 1300 students and they say specially need donations for older students. Grades 5th to 12th grade donations of things like index cards, mechanical pencils, flash drives highlighters, calculators and backpacks. This you know, just to name a few of them. And you can also drop off donations at the Police Department. But theyre asking if you do that, please drop off those locations by august 16th. Youre gonna notice it much more. So as we get into next week, Temperature Check for you. Lower 60s cover much of the east bay for now 50s control of the peninsula at 57 for Half Moon Bay. 61 san carlos, though. 56 meanwhile for santa rosa and 59 for novato. So for today, lets go for about 6 to 9 are racing to about 74 San Francisco with the morning fog and mild. 75 oakland. 84. Meanwhile, 4 san jose. So in the game plan for the weekend, we got morning fog in the bay clouds and all that clears out near about 80 for the bay. A little bit over that. Expect lee for tomorrow. 90s going on. Well inland. Now sunday, we might scratch 100 or so in some selective spots. But its monday tuesday, probably the hottest days. Tahoe will continue on with the summertime pattern of chance of afternoon evening. Thunder showers. And that really is going to set the stage all the way to the middle of the week until we see some drying going on in the elements for position just right to kind of turn that off of that. So thats what you can expect next week up their hot inland early in the week, again, popping near 100 before we backtrack to the 90s. And it looks like into next weekend. My cool off a little bit in some 80s back there again. So that will feel nice, too. So heres the morning fog in the drizzle that clears on out at some heating there you the habit, couple of scattered showers working their this afternoon. Exhaust overnight. Not too much, but it does drift back to the bay area by tomorrow morning sunday. Do the whole process again. You can see the showers and the thunderstorms a little bit more aggressive. This go around and those exhaust clouds back to the bay area. Its possible in some of those Higher Elevations, we might pick up a stray shower. Maybe a couple cracks of thunder cant rule that out. And that would be most likely in the east bay for those Higher Elevations. 93 for a high today for antioch. 93 also livermore 92 for concord. 80s lineup, the east bay shoreline. But these numbers up a little bit. But well inland, youll see a bigger jump happening here. It is over the next couple of days. 97 or so for sunday. Its one of californias Largest Industries manufacturing. Everything from heavy machinery to hightech gadgets. 2, yes, your favorite jelly bellies. The sector produces all kinds of items in goods. Consumers use every day. In fact, in the golden state, the Governors Office estimates the industry includes more than 1 million jobs. 35,000 firms and 134 billion dollars of exported goods every year. Manufacturing. Im big believer at the front end of the economy. Quite frankly. If you dont have manufacturing, you dont have an economy. Lance hastings, the president and ceo of the california manufacturers, Technology Association or cmt 8, he argues for the Manufacturing Sector to be as successful as possible in need access to state of the art machinery and equipment thats why cmt a sponsoring a b, 52, a bill seeking to provide a sales tax credit for manufacturers when they buy new equipment. Here. Legislation he says will incentivize manufacturing businesses to stay in california and compete here instead of moving to other states or countries where such tax credits already exist, i think would be a good sign for the economy to show that manufacturers are, in fact, investing in the great state of california. The bill is popular in the legislature already passed in the assembly with unanimous support manufacturing place. A crucial it plays central role in our states economy.
