But we have heard here in the last 10 minutes the President Biden been monitoring the situation has just now approved a disaster declaration for hawaii. Theyre going to be a whole lot of rebuilding. And first, they have to get all of the visitors off the island before they can start bringing in a lot of those resources because they have the one airport. Its been its been a ordeal for a lot of folks trying to get off the isle could because the airport is a shelter. Number one for people who are homeless and then also number 2, these people are sheltering and having to sort of live there. At the airport until they get flights in some case cases, its 30 hours. Its its 2 to 3 days. That they are spending their. With very little and sleeping on the floor and and just trying to get out. A lot of them have been lucky enough to this morning arrive at sfo. She tells me that she was staying in an apartment there right where everything happened. She had about 5 minutes to gather her things gather her kids and her husband before the roof on their apartment started to fly off that structure. She tells me is now completely gone. She spent the night at a high school nearby and the following day she was over at the airport. There. Yesterday cried all its just its really and it were any of your friends or family affected by oh, yes. Yeah. We know several people who lost their homes. Pets. Its its going to be a trickle down effect for many you know, and ultimately we continue to hear stories like this. Another family spent 35 hours in an airport when it comes to them trying to get a flight. They see that the airlines care such as southwest united are allowing people to jump from one ship to another. But there is a 19 and once you get into the airport, cant really get back out and trying to get to the airport, according to the flyers that are coming in this morning. Theres really only one road and thats a oneway road. So its not too lines. Its just one way in and one way out. And thats how people are getting from their hotels to the airport. But theres a big plume of large black smoke that was rising from that area after a pile of scrap metal caught fire. And heres video from yesterday kind of make out the smoke a little better here. The air Quality Management district has extended its advisory for parts of contra costa and alameda counties. And heres some new video that we have showing the smoke there it is from a different angle and its a lot more pronounced against that blue sky yesterday when the fire is at its peak. Well, happening today, the man accused of allegedly shoplifting at a home depot and then assaulting a Security Guard. Hes going to be in court for his arraignment. The San Mateo CountySheriffs Office says the 26 yearold Jonathan Mackey hit the Security Guard in the face and head area with the guards own baton after he was confronted. The guard then shot mackey, injuring him. Mackey was booked into jail on robbery and assault charges. He set to appear in court at about one 30 this afternoon. In the east bay. The city the search is on for oaklands next police chief and the Police Commission is asking residents to weigh in on what theyd like to see in a chief. School district says today will be a minimum day. A time to get to know your teachers classrooms in classmates. They want to remind parents and students, class assignments and schedules can be found on the districts infinite campus portal. Those schedules for Elementary Middle School and high school have already been posted. They also want to remind parents students about traffic. Safety can get quite busy around the school campuses. And School Officials are asking people to be patient and park in designated spaces and they know traffic can be frustrating for these first few days. As families to get use to the dropoff and pickup traffic flow. We did speak with some parents this morning talking about how difficult it was to drop off their kids this morning. Its cool. San joses mayor introduced a program that promotes traffic safety, especially as kids are heading back to school to important time to be careful and the strategy and vests in protected bike lanes, better Street Lighting and the Pilot Program for Speed Enforcement cameras. We dont want anyone to die or be injured on our streets. Im happy to say we have reduced this year far at this point in time we are seeing a substantial reduction in fatalities. Well, in the east bay, dublin, police say that a scammer is impersonating a sergeant with the Alameda CountySheriffs Office. They say a resident received a phone call from whoever this person is demanding money. Detectives are trying to figure out who they are. Police say to call them if you receive a call like this or if you think youre getting a call, thats a scam because theyre clearly on the lookout for whoever this person is. They want to find him. Police in alameda are investigating. The human remains were found near bay farm island. Theyre looking at it as a homicide. Police say they got a call back on july 20th about an object that was found on the shoreline. They went out investigated and later confirmed it was in fact, human remains. An autopsy determined that they belong to a female. They think maybe 25 to 40 ye
