Yesterday was a rough one as far as Air Quality goes, as mentioned, you probably noticed it as you stepped outside. But today a shift in Wind Direction should help us out a little bit resulting in some improvements at least temporarily as far as what youre going to be breathing in is concerned as far as the rest of the forecast goes. Todays easily the hottest day of the forecast. Well see improvements in temperatures after today. So today is going to be a hot one a lot like we had seen over the weekend, especially for inland valleys. A look outside this morning at your East Bay Camera situated over berkeley right here does show you some of that gray thats hanging out really cant see any of the city of berkeley down below this morning. Visibility is fine right along the bayshore. We do have to wind advisories to know one of them being right along the Altamont Pass and the other being at the Dumbarton Bridge this morning. As for current temperatures, its 50s and 60s livermore in san jose at 62 pittsburgh. Youre just shy of 70 right now while Oakland And Alameda at 60 berkeley and San Francisco each at 58. Im talking more about what exactly to expect as we do work our way through the start of this new week and when temperatures will cool down. Still to come in your forecast, rain, a topic. So that all right. As youre hitting the road this monday morning. Lets start with the Bay Bridge heavy from the East Bay into the city. A little under 11 minutes for you to make it to that fremont street exit. So things are looking great. Its also having to look at the san Mateo Bridge as youre heading across towards the peninsula. Looks like we have some activity happening there. However, you can see traffic still moving along there. Well continue to follow whats going on there. Looks like an Emergency Team currently crossing the bridge there as well. So im not tracking any major delays across the san Mateo Bridge. Still about 10 minutes for your drive time. Well keep a close eye on this. Lets head over to the richmond. Sandra fell bridge. Look at that. Heading at a richmond, a little under 9 minutes and the golden Gate Bridge heading into the city about 20 minutes. Well have more on your traffic. But for now, lets get back to the news. A developing story were following pga eve morning. You about potential Power Shut offs this week in the North Bay because drought conditions combined with high winds that are forecast later in the week. Pg e says that these conditions increase the risk for fire danger. The possible shut offs could happen tuesday or wednesday. 3 Bay Area counties could be impacted by this. Thats Napa Solano and sonoma counties. Were going be a closer look at the numbers and napa county. The shut offs could impact more than 1800 people and Solano County only about 71 customers could be impacted. And in sonoma county. That number is just over a 100 there. Now to our Wildfire Coverage Smoke from the Dixie Fire, causing some problems. Another day here in the Bay Area. Its been more than a month since the Dixie Fire erupted and its showing no signs of slowing down yet the fire is the second largest in californias history. And it continues to threaten homes and Strain Firefighting resources. The fire has burned more than 57,000 acres. The store at more than 1000 structures the force of nearly 29,000 people to evacuate. The fire is currently just 31 contained. Because of that fire. The Air Quality Management District has expanded that Air Quality advisory. We had through today. Its going to be the 6th straight day. Weve seen that the smoke from those wildfires have brought hazy skies to the Bay Area. Its also expected to affect people in the north and the East Bay as well. People with respiratory issues are being told to limit your time outdoors. Turning now to the latest with the coronavirus. Some of the most vulnerable are starting to receive a 3rd dose of the Covid Vaccine after the fda and the Cdc Emergency Use approval now theyre discussing with top health officials about whether or not the United States as offer. A 3rd goes to everyone. Kron fours. Gayle ong has more with what Health Experts are saying about that. Health experts i spoke with say eventually we may need at their dose, but that should not be the focus at this time. Focus is on getting that first and second shot for everybody else who didnt get those 4. And thats where we really have to concentrate getting the first and second shot for people with good onion systems. I think now the 3rd shot from people with poor immune Systems Doctor Reena subramanian an infectious Disease Physician at stanford at those unvaccinated are still at risk. Mostly the people are either unvaccinated or people who are vaccinated. But have very poor immune system and thats why were concentrating on. Giving the shot 2 people who really couldnt develop of good Antibody Response from the first to the fda and Cdcs Approval of a 3rd covid shot for the immunocompromised. A first step. Many Health Experts believe. But Doctor Alley has soon an infectious Disease Expert in huntsville, alabama, hopes it will pave the way for everyone to get a 3rd shot. Honestly, i think. Everybody get and of needing a 3rd booster needed as an extra line of defense of the surging Delta Variant under the emergency use authorization. Those who received organ transplants or have certain cancers or other disorders. Should be able to get a 3rd shot of the Pfizer Or Moderna vaccine. Alabama doctor is confident a 3rd dose is safe based on results of several studies. Those who had the transplant, for example, chemotherapy and got a 3rd of those. And they did not have any safety concern. The Side Effect was similar to the second those Side Effect, though, for example, pfizer vaccine. But U C Berkeley infectious Disease Expert doctor John Swartzberg agrees with the Fda And Cdc data. What im not in accord with is. Going further than the data shows and that is. Otherwise healthy. People. Even people over 65. Theres not evidence right now that we need a 3rd and the director of the national institutes of health says the u. S. Could decide whether to offer americans a 3rd dose by the fall and if so, the plan may be beginning with Health Care workers. Those in nursing homes and then to others such as the elderly in the newsroom. Gayle Ong Kron 4 news. Weve checking the weather on this monday morning. The time few now 04 17am if youre leaving the house. The weather looks great job. The only thing im a little concerned about because ive got the allergy is going on here is the Air Quality. You or even in keep windows open so that air can come in. And now youre saying we should probably limit that. You know, what are your thoughts to get everybody cohen this morning safely out so i got to detail their Quality Forecast for us so we can actually anticipate some better conditions for opening those windows especially come evening hours tonight. Now we are still in the midst of some Smoke And Haze this morning, though. So unlike the past few days. Youre worse impact from smoke on this monday is actually going to be during morning hours with clearing skies later on as for right now, what youre looking at San Francisco is some low Lying Cloud Cover in the form of fog for only a couple of spots. Most of this Cloud Cover sitting above us. So as you can see in San Francisco visibility is actually just fine for the time being. We are going to stay dry today. Now, i do want to take a look at your Smoke Forecast in just could spell it out through the day for you. So we do have smoke that is really impacting inland areas. But as we advance through the day. Look at how the Sea Breeze begins to clear things out, especially for areas closer to the coast that deep red indicating smoke really retreating further and further inland playing it through one more time. We do have that moderate to unhealthy impact from smoke this morning. But really starting to clear out come the afternoon. This is going to bring temporary relief especially for inland areas that had been looking at such smoky conditions over the weekend. Definitely an impact of moderate across much of the Bay Area. We have poor to very poor and even worse conditions for further inland in North Bay areas. So this was an impact over the weekend that i know i was feeling as i got out there, im sure you did as well. This is good news for us, at least temporarily that the smoke is going to be clearing out working in our favor for at least the time being over the next 24 hours. 60s and 70s for your highs. In San Francisco today. It will be 60s right along the coastline and then temperatures along the Bay Shore in the 70s to 80s burlingame right at 80 degrees. San carlos 85 Redwood City 84 today, South Bay temperatures 80s to low 90s san jose 87 Degrees Fremont and Union City in the low 80s while Pleasanton And Livermore in the mid 90s Today may be a good Air Quality day come the afternoon. But it is going to be a hot afternoon, which will keep you inside more than Anything Danville and conquered up to 99 oakland a good place to escape to if you can in the 70s. Well, any on pittsburgh in vacaville are 3 very hottest of spots each in the triple digits. So heres where the good news begins as far as temperatures go, look at Todays Temperature Drop from today into tomorrow will drop from the mid 90s upper 90s to even triple digits. As you saw, inland to just the upper 80s to low 90s for most of your inland highs, not just tomorrow but really through the remainder of this forecast. So there is a much more temper. It forecast ahead for inland areas beside in coastal areas looking at a steady one with highs remaining in the 60s to 70s reyna. John, thank you so much for that. And that Air Quality forecast for us. Were looking at the Bay Bridge. No major issues or delays. As youre heading from the East Bay into the city this morning. A little under 10 minutes. Things are looking great, but you do have some accidents down in san jose like northbound 6. 80, on mckee wrote there and then another one southbound one. Oh, one at that 87 connector in san jose. Does it seem like its causing much of a delay at this hour. They stick might change will have more on that coming up. Lets look at the Mateo Bridge. Earlier we saw some emergency lights. It looks like that was just an Emergency Vehicle crossing the bridge there. No issues a little under 13 minutes as youre heading across towards the peninsula. Well, if youre in the market to buy a new home. You may be in luck. The East Bay association of realtors says. Home sales in the east. They are starting to slow down as inventories up Kron Fours felecia reports this may lead to a busy Buying Season for us in the fall. Covid19 has really changed the whole concept of the seasonal nature of real estate before the pandemic. David stark says peak singlefamily Housing Inventory in the East Bay happen in the spring. Communities like pleasant hill, Clayton And Hayward yearoveryear. More homes are listed on the market. The combined increase of 51 . But fewer are being sold. A dropoff of about 6 . Something very interesting happened last year we saw a Peak Inventory in the spring and then a second peak in the fall. And we could be experiencing something very similar this year. Stark speaks for the Bay East Association of realtors, a group that monitors housing trends for more than 6,000 real estate professionals throughout the Bay Area weve got both historically low interest rates which make it easier to qualify for a mortgage at the same time historically high sales prices. So even though Mortgage Interest rates may be low. Youre still having to qualify for a large mortgage and make a large payment. So i think what were seeing in some communities as what were calling Buyer Fatigue and theyre saying were going to back off or second. See what happens with the market starts says despite Home Sales in the East Bay dropping this year from june to july on average singlefamily homes only stayed on the market. 14 days last month and thats a good indicator that buyers are out there. Theyre making offers and the mark the offers are being accepted. So thats a great way to tell just how healthy these markets are. The fact that homes are selling very quickly trends stark expects to continue through the end of the year. Phillipe djegal all kron 4 news coming up next on the kron 00 00am Morning News, a warning.
