First take a look at this map so you can see exactly where this happened at the high right off of 8. 80, on west warren avenue in fremont. Police say they were surveilling a man with several outstanding felony warrants. They were going to arrest him. They also believed he had a gun just before 6. 30 last night. The officers went to arrest the man, but he was refusing. So they deployed a police dog. Police on scene say the man took out a gun during the confrontation with the 2 officers. Who both then fired their guns at him. The man was shot and died on scene in video from that scene. You can see it was a heavy Police Presence as the investigation began and went on into the night. Lets go to the south bay now where theres growing concern over the emergence of variance with the coronavirus, particularly in Santa Clara County. We have doctors there saying that all known coronavirus variants of concern have been discovered in the county and that another wave of cases is likely coming. The more opportunity that the virus has to circulate, the more opportunity it has to take on newt haitians and to change. So weve already seen a few variance of concern emerge and we what we want to do is get our here and really globally to get vaccinated as quickly as possible to reduce that opportunity. County Health Officials expect vaccine supply to increase in the coming weeks. But admit that they still dont have enough doses yet to me all the demand. And until more people are vaccinated and the Community Reaches Community Immunity Health Officials continue to ask that everyone follow the social distancing requirements that have already been laid out, especially the maskwearing and they also strongly recommend against any indoor activities which includes Indoor Dining or gatherings even though they are allowed under state guidelines. Doctor sara cody says that she has ruled out imposing stricter restrictions although nothing is in the works just yet. So i stopped their legs as point mama didnt raise the look at all the traveler right behind me. Look at that. So traveling is up. No doubt about it. This is spring break for a lot of. Kids, a lot of families and lets face and more americans are getting vaccinated, which is why yesterday james and area. The cdc. I mean, not the cdc. I should say the state department of health in california. They said that we can travel now more than 100 20 miles from home. Remember restriction that they put in place a few months ago just to make sure that were safe. They are still telling people unless you have to travel for essential services and work try not to. But you can clearly say many people are doing that. Theyre traveling to destinations for spring break and heres video. I shot a little bit earlier this morning. Look how busy it is inside the terminals. Well, the travel industry, they know vaccinations are up, which is why theyre hoping that the Biden Administration as early as this morning could possibly lift some of those travel restrictions, especially from europe to america because the tourism industry, the Airline Industry took beating last year when covid19 shut down the world. Got a chance to talk to some travelers this morning here is one mans reaction to the cdc, possibly loosening up restrictions. I just like guy. The recommendations been following the best data we can and. Reacting appropriately. And as being a things are going well. I continuing to allow no restrictions to react appropriately but if things start taking a turn for the worst correcting the course. So james duryea, the travel industry did not say specifically what they would like to be done. But i can tell you as it stands right now, anybody traveling from europe to America Needs to show that they are negative with covid19 before traveling to america. And theyre telling people those who are here are coming here that they should quarantine for 7 days and that might be tough for a lot of european travelers. We are staying on top of the situation. Hopefully the cdc and they did say that they would possibly release the guidelines imminently just a day or so ago. If they release it, we will let you know that clearly look at this traveling is up. Theyre going to places. Im going to work. Im going to get more interviews. Thats what i do. Back hardest working man in broadcast. Thank you very much. Well. Time now is 7. 37. Only a 181 of been rehoused more than 1700 still need new homes. One of the main challenges is the lack of affordable housing. The goal is to have everyone rehoused by this october and to meet that deadline, theyre going to need to place 290 people a month. Time now 7. 41. Well be back with 7. 44 and is looking to be a bad fire not good news. The winter season hasnt given us much rain. So officials are looking for another. Potentially hot, dry, maybe even record breaking summer. Weve got towns and showing us some of the updated aircraft that cal fire is going to be using to battle wildfires. In his 11 have years with cal fire in nearly 40 years with the u. S. Forest service. Cal fires, senior chief of aviation dennis brown knows when the conditions are right for another hectic fire season were headed into another dry season. So with a month the last 2 to 3 that weve had it. It is reason for concern, which means its time to ready all battle stations starting with training for existing air tanker and air tactical pilots. Theyre going through. Refresher Training Ground school. And then also Flight Training today. And for the next several weeks. Brown says they are also training pilots to fly several of these new specially 70 i calfire hocks from poland which are double the size of their longstanding u h i age or Huey Helicopters in replace 12 of these vietnam air aircraft by 2022. Its got an extended landing gear that makes it set up higher. It has a 1000 gallon tank thats put under its foods or foods that pins in the aircraft itself that full down there. Also equipped with exterior cables for rescues and a snorkel system that can up 1000 gallons of water in less than a minute in the mechanics. And mcclellan are also making additional adjustments to the rest of their summer fleet will have. 23 a grumman f 2 air tankers. Those hurt are 1200 gallon air tankers that we have in our 12. Eric that basis. They have a 60 can that aircraft will be going to the paint job will be going to fresno. Calif ayers also looking into acquiring several more lockheed c one 30 air tankers. They can store up to 4,000 gallons of water and fire retardant all to help maintain cal fires goal to have an aircraft. On any fire in our state responsibility or in california within 20 minutes ago. But without the ground resources, we wont be successful. And Mcclellan Air field. Melanie townsend. 7. 46, right now. Doesnt look like were getting that rain and our hope was made a few days. We get some looks like thats fizzling out last we checked with john. Anyway, john, good morning. Yeah, guys. And we really need. That is drought. Conditions continue to deepen across the bay area and the rest of the state for that matter as well. Conditions out there in our latest Drought Monitor showing you the deepest of drought, at least for those of us here in the day is across the north bay area thats been pretty subject to some rapid growing fires in past years, especially napa solano and sonoma counties. Also deep drought across the eastern portion of the state. And as dorian james mentioned, really not looking at any improvements to this as we work our way into the upcoming week as well as we make our way through april. We really need to start tapping into any sort of remaining moisture is after that we start to see any chance of precipitation declining rapidly for the remaining months of spring into summer as for right now, its very quiet on radar. We are seeing an onshore flow which is actually bringing back in at least some ocean cool there to the bay while the Central Valley is still going hold on to daytime highs well into the 80s that sea breeze cools the bay area off in sea breeze actually picks up towards the close of the day today. Thats going to place more and more fog on across the bay area into tomorrow morning means deepening marine layer and cooler temperatures even as compared to today into your saturday. So temperatures are on a downhill slide these next couple of days. Today still mild some mostly cloudy mostly sunny skies tomorrow morning. Watch for some coastal drizzle as that marine layer really makes its way on into the bay partly cloudy for your saturday. Even cooler yet in the Easter Sunday. Also starting off sunday with some fog. As for temperatures today, youll notice the greatest difference closer to the coast 50s 60s for your highs from San Francisco down peninsula through happen bay right at 60 degrees. Sfo you broke a record yesterday rising up into the mid 80s today surrounding areas only in the low 60s. So were well over 20 degrees, cooler for some spots on the peninsula saying carlos 71 for your high south bay temperatures, only 10 degrees down from yesterday. Youre Still Holding on to mid 70s beautiful afternoon for you. Union city right at 70 degrees oakland at 67. Well, conquered at 75 north bay temps 70s to one lone 80 still hanging on the map. Thats an antioch credit. 80 degrees, much like those areas further inland which will also be in the 80s for yet another day. Tomorrows temperatures cool a little bit further will start saturday and sunday mornings with an even deeper layer fog than what were in the midst of right now. Sunday, Easter Sunday will eventually clear out after such a foggy start with highs in the 60s. We mentioned those chances of rainfall. So monday and tuesday Still Holding on to at least a slight chance of rain but latest model runs are showing less and less likely opportunity to see any sort of precipitation, chances of rain that we really do need reyna down.
