So lets take a look at temperatures today. It was a lot like yesterday a lot of sunshine temperatures at or slightly above average specifically for those of you in oakland. And also conquered warming up into the mid 60s. Everyone else in the low 60s and thats about where we should be for this time of year and heres a live look outside at Half Moon Bay and were fptracking. Calmer winds speeds and clear skies out there drying out from the storm that left behind some pretty gusty winds along the coast. We did see gusts upwards of 40 Miles Per Hour less earlier today, but now were in the teens for nevado in downtown San Francisco and everyone else in the Single Digits so were heading in the right direction temperatures out there right now starting to cool down into the 40s for most of our inland valleys, specifically for those of dublin and livermore in the east bay valleys low to mid 50s throughout the east bay shoreline with oakland at 55 degrees. Half moon bay, currently in the low 50s as is downtown San Francisco palo alto 52 degrees with widespread 40s starting to return for those of you in the north bay thing so that clear air mass not tracking that blanket of cloud cover so overnight lows will dip about 5 degrees from last night it is going to be noticeably chillier tonight, nevada though in the low 50s but santa rosa and napa in the mid to upper 40s there and overnight lows tonight cooling down into the low to mid 40s and livermore even cooler than that 38 degrees so make sure to bundle up daytime highs for your sunday, valentines day looking great a little bit cooler along the coast in the mid 50s so make sure to bundle up there but overall looking like a dry outlook for most of the bay area. Well if you thought the dating was hard before the pandemic social distancing and restaurants and bars closing certainly have not made any easier. But despite all the hurdles to overcome love will find a way some dating apps are helping people find the love of their lives and sasha loftus has more. Is great, but it can also be one key factor in the stress and uncertainty of covid19. It can all feel overwhelming. We took a look at how the coronavirus has changed things for better or for worse. Its meant to be its meant to be whether youre happily attach or still searching for that special someone theres the Science Behind any successful romance, especially during the covid19 pandemic match now really encourages you to do the video some like Heidi Glassman and John Claridge got lucky, i saw posting that she had made. It was okay, i guess weve got to fastforward asked for heidi and john there proof real love is still out you just have to fight a little harder to find it it just kind of think thats what makes us so special sasha loftus. And in addition to valentines day this weekend also tracking your president s day outlook specifically for those of you heading to the sea or sneak peek, were tracking fresh snow showers for your monday. Our President Trumps actions. Preceded the right. Or a disgraceful. Disgraceful. There are election. Duty. Theres no question their President Trump has practically. And marlee responsible. For provoking they of the day. Senate minority leader Mitch Mcconnell, laying the blame for the capitol riot, squarely at the feet of former President Trump just moments after voting to acquit him of those charges. It seemed like it was an attempt to have it both ways condemning the president s actions, but still be able to appeal to the base with his vote to get more perspective on this and also the impeachment trial as a whole are joined live right now by our political analysts. Michael yaki good evening. Thank you for joining us here on kron 4 news tonight. Just think could you go little bit about what happened with Mitch Mcconnell there he condemned the violence. He condemned the president s the former president s rhetoric, but he didnt vote to acquit. I dont get it. Well its its to its classic Mitch Mcconnell, its trying to have it every single way you can and every single political. Every single political advantage that he can think of so this is sort of break this down. He voted to acquit the president he announced that early today. Before the defense before the prosecutor for the house impeachment managers and finish their closing there you there you go. But then after the vote actually takes place he comes out and he last former President Trump. And so people are asking themselves. Well is like courage is that. Well the fact is that. He used the excuse of the fact that the. Former president is not no longer president. As a constitutional shirk to do the vote when in fact he had the opportunity back in january before. The former president became the former president to accept the articles of impeachment from the house and conduct the trial and judging by his red. Today. Probably not much would have changed in his view. What happened then and today but the real part of political jujitsu that i that i saw here he basically put this at the feet. President biden and Merrick Garland by talking about the fact that he cannot has to be done. He could still be liable for his actions criminally. Hes actually base. Hes actually throwing it at this hot potato at the Biden Administration and specifically at that general Merrick Garland to say well. This occurred. This is a federal crime a potential federal crime under current and potential and it occurred on federal property. This is your issue. And. You know white sands and walks away. Classic Mitch Mcconnell. Okay so republican senator mitt romney was the only republican in trumps first impeachment trial to vote to convict or donald trump. This time there were 7 which is more a notable but not enough to convict him what do you see about that shift there. Well i think its its a realization that what. Trump did. In the events leading up to january states 6 and on january 6 and in the 5 hours between the time. Left the podium from his speech and the time that he actually issued a real statement. Regarding the event that they knew that he had done everything that he could to instigate an insight interaction that occurred and if its been a secret ballot. I have a feeling that you might have had more than 7. I dont know if you would have gotten to 1717, but it would have been very very close. But this is just a situation where politics, pure and simple at the heart of what happened here today people are still concerned a lot of those senators were up for election in 2 years. Are very concerned about the fact that the trump base is still with trump and they were going to be looking at this vote as a bellwether whether or not support this person, our support a primary challenge to them in a couple years. So looking ahead since he was found not guilty former President Trump he can run for office again. Do you think that he well. He could run for office again but remember theres a wonderful. Section 5 of the 14th amendment which talks about the ability to implement the 14th amendment and part of section 3 of the 4 them started doing them. Although your minds here but it basically said it was basically right after the civil war that they said people we said whore involving insurrection against the United States cannot run for office can hold office. And you can actually implement that the legislation if that if the house the senate so chose so choose and there may yet be an attempt to do that but the fact is is that i dont know that will really happen. But there are a lot of things going on with the with the former president in terms of his legal status, whether or not Merrick Garland to just go forward well see whether or not there will be some accounting or reckoning for the for the former president in the years to come. Right now im sure sure you very emboldened hes probably we cant go on twitter to talk about it, but he has released one statement. Actually a couple statements already about this and im sure figure another way to communicate as well because he since he as of now he still intends to be a big part. What is and what was the Republican Party. Do you think that he will be held accountable for the riots in a criminal court. I think well. I think theres theres actually good case to be made. If you can find the evidence right now the stand and its been like this was a this is the difference between. When impeachment and the criminal trial is the standard of evidence is going to be a lot higher for any criminal proceeding. What he did as president and whether he fulfilled his oath of office that was a question for impeachment. But the actual the actual issue of incitement or conspiracy for interaction is something that will have to take more take some time given the facts that have been laid out there in the in the past few weeks is there possibility that the Justice Department could in prosecuting some of the keepers are proud boys what have started going up the food chain of responsibility that could lead to that could lead to the far president. That may be a possibility, but we wont know and we wont see until that process is has taken its thats going to be a long time thats going to some hard road for the Justice Department or to hold but well see because theres clearly interface between the Trump Campaign the Trump Administration and the organizers of the march they change the date it changed the time they change the rules they changed place and they in terms of the planning. They change what would happen at the end leading that is they wanted that people go to capitol hill during the vote. So there is a lot of smoke there whether they can actually find the elements of the fire is going to be something its you really Merrick Garlands going to have to wrestle with enough in the next few months. And i would think even in a criminal trial finding jurors to are not biased in any way might be difficult. Difficult but not impossible they may they may have to hold it in the summer. Well were Stacey Plaskett plaque and when its from maybe the diversion islands that might be a good place. So whats next now this second impeachment trial is over. It i mean history is going to market for sure, but now congress can move on. So whats the focus now. Well the focus has been and will continue before the Biden Administration the pandemic and the recovery so theyre going to be working on on the reconciliation bill for the American Rescue plan that will be leave money for the the stimulus for people money for people a little bit out of out of working can pay the rent for the past year thats going to be the big focus in has been the big focus. The Biden Administration Going Forward each the second the second thing will be service build back better the big infrastructure America First rebuild the Manufacturing Sector component but first hes going to want to make sure you can get as much of the American Rescue plan that 1. 9 trillion dollar bill. Through and theyre going to reconciliation which means they only need 50 plus the Vice President to get it through and theyre writing that right now it will probably take probably be on the floor within a week of 8 passed within a couple weeks and then after that, you know gloves are off. Doesnt like a good fight. All right michael yaki thank you so much for joining us here tonight on kron 4. You just think good to see you all right, lets talk now about our 4 zone forecast meteorologist Mabrisa Rodriguez standing by with a look ahead. For valentines day. Yeah, valentines day were going to notice cooler and cloudier weather in the bay area overall a fairly dry outlook with the bulk of the wet weather not arriving until sunday night in addition to that were tracking snow showers returning to the sierra. Heres a live look outside i 80 at castle peak, fresh snow right off the roads, but roadways are clear chain controls have been lifted lets take a look at the last 24 hours. Snow totals because Donner Summit you have slightly less than a foot of snow 10 inches for those of you at sugar bowl 9 inches of fresh powder and sierra at tahoe 6 inches of snow and right now this years snowpack averaging about 6 to 7 at last check but hopefully with this storm heading our way sunday night through monday it can help boost up those totals up to 70 of average so futurecast for tracking for your sunday outlook, those of you heading to this year for the long holiday president s day weekend were going to see snow showers mainly arriving at night with that Winter Weather advisory not going into effect until sunday at midnight specifically for elevations above 7,000 feet up this year up and thats going to continue through around 04 00pm on monday. So we could see a few inches of fresh powder elevations above 7,000 feet this is going to be a weaker storm than the one that we saw passed through last night through this morning, 3 to 6 inches though for elevations above 7,000 feet with a mixture of that rain and snow for the lower lake levels so we could get up to a foot of an inch of snow with that mixture but it is going to be that slushy snow and then ridges and valleys going to see the return of gusty went so pretty white out conditions heading to this year ballys could see gusts upwards of 45 Miles Per Hour with the ridge tops tracking gusts. Upwards of 100 Miles Per Hour or less and your getaway forecast for tomorrow. It looks like its going to be a fairly dry day increase in cloud cover temperatures in the low 40s, snow showers returning monday and then cooler weather as that storm system passes. It is going to leave behind a cooler air mass with temperatures even with that sunshine cooling down to 37 degrees just steam back to you thank you so much the pandemic began migrant farm workers have been trying to get the attention and the help that they need to continue.
