Seattle like you can see there on the freemen of your screen there and some of those yellow colors that means really heavy pockets of some rainfall. Some parts of oregon and seattle are going to be getting it before the bay area is going to be a getting parts of the storm system as we get into early tomorrow morning. So your commute to work. It looks like it could be a wet one so just keep that in mind make sure you leave plenty of time and that definitely have your rain jackets and your umbrellas because were going to see the rain throughout much of tomorrow and then things should wrap up early. Wednesday morning and also were expecting at some snow in the sierra as well with this storm system. Yes temperatures outside right now very chilly, were seeing a lot of 40s on the board oakland youre at 52 right now and then were looking at 47 though very chilly in antioch livermore youre at 45 right now freeman 45 in downtown san jose 45 are looking at mid 50s right here and San Francisco 55 degrees and then the 40s continue for our north bay zone. Were going to be a looking winds as well becoming a factor as is the storm system begins to approach the bay area as we get into tuesday things are going to really start to amp up. You can see a lot of the north bay we could be seeing anywhere from 20 to 25 mile an hour wind gusts were going to continue that through tuesday, especially along summer, coastal spots like Half Moon Bay, we could see anywhere from 30 to even 35 mile an hour wind gusts out of this storm system. Looking ahead. Were going to the rain into tomorrow and then scattered showers for wednesday things should get dry. Those we get the latter part of the week thursday and into friday and then were looking at a lot of sunshine on saturday with the highs in the mid 60s. But look at those overnight lows though 20s as we get into tomorrow and then were looking at 30s inland and then around the bay under coastal spots all the way into next week and then on monday of next week we could see that rain return once again. How much rain are we talking for tomorrow and wednesday. Let you know coming up in just a robin back to you all right, thank you for the update. And yes we always need more rain. Thank you rebecca, were checking in on the traffic and so far we are a hot spot free. Heres a live look at 80 into San Francisco, no problems or issues for you leading up to the bay bridge toll plaza so come on in were wide open across the upper deck through downtown over to the skyway with no problems on one oh one or 2. 80 all right, lets check some more shall we have 92 your trip across the 70 oh bridge. Looking good and moving well no delays no major issues here from the east bay off to the peninsula. So if you get on out there right now you can make that drive over to one o one in under 30 minutes which is pretty quick. We have one more were checking in on the golden gate. I dont see any Maintenance Work out there so you get to go northbound out of San Francisco which is on the right and then on the left we have southbound one oh one and thats doing just fine 25 minutes rolling south nevado to the toll plaza in San Francisco. Now we have reached that point we were warning about. We are in the worst moment of this pandemic to date. The situation has never been more dire. The coronavirus pandemic is raging across the country. The number of infections is climbing fast. And singleday records are being shattered and sta state after state. Well medical systems are also being pushed to the brink. So its not looking so good right now. The u. S. Passed another grim milestone in the fight against covid19 on sunday, the country top more than 11 million cases, the u. S. Had 10 million cases just a week ago, more than 240,000 people have died. Well the rising chases and counts and hospitalizations in the bay area are forcing local Health Officials to once again and forced restrictions to limit the spread. Well happening tomorrow, alameda and marin counties are expected to move back into the red tier yeah were going back meaning Indoor Dining will be banned. Currently both counties are in the orange here will also on tuesday napa county is expected to move back into the purple tier which is the most restrictive tier and currently the county is in the orange or moderate here. Well the coronavirus cases rising across the bay area local Health Officials are urging people to get tested. Now its not often discussed are the different ways that ways to test for the virus. So you have 2 types of tests that are typically use. One is called a rapid antigen test which detects proteins from the virus. While a pc or test detects the virus genetic material. Well doctors say the pcr test is typically more accurate regardless of the results. There is no perfect test. You can have a false negative. Pcr test and you can have a false negative and agentes antigen test are not quite as sensitive. But again if theyre positive. Theyre very good. Well doctors also say when you get tested and when you get tested can play a role in your results. They recommend waiting 5 to 7 days after exposure for more accurate results for either test. If i was exposed to a person who had covid19 today getting tested tomorrow with either test would largely be a waste of time. Well if youre showing in a covid19 symptoms but test negative on an antigen test. Doctors say that you should go ahead and get a pc or which is more sensitive. Well happening tomorrow Contra Costa County will be hosting a testing before Turkey Campaign i like the sound of that the campaign will be held from 11 00am until noon. This is in the parking lot right in front of the Contra Costa County, a Public Health Clinic Services building the campaigns goal is to encourage families planning to gather on thbnksgiving to get tested for covid19 and limit the spread of the virus. Organizers hope caravans of families and friends get tested together. I think thats a great idea. Well happening today everyone entering a costco must wear a Face Covering so costco previously exempt at mit members with medical conditions from that policy but under the updated policy, those with medical conditions must at least wear some sort of facial dont forget to do that the only current exemption is for children under the age of 2. One thing that many of us survive a pandemic is when will things go back to normal right thats a big question doctor fauci said that prediction actually depends on a variety of factors most notably and of effective vaccine. If we get the overwhelming majority. Of people taking the vaccine and you have on the one hand and effective vaccine on the other hand a high degree of uptake of the vaccine we could start getting things back to relative normal as we get into the second and 3rd quarter of the year where people can start thinking about doing things that would too dangerous just months ago, but weve got to put all those things together jake, we cant just wish it happening weve got to get the vaccine. Its got to be deployed and we cant abandon fundamental Public Health measures. Well last week we got some good news on a possible covid19 vaccine. The pharmaceutical giant pfizer announced that its Coronavirus Vaccine has reached 90 effectiveness and that has Health Experts feeling optimistic washington dc correspondent basil john reports. I think its a great. A great first step upstate medical University Infectious disease chief doctor steven thomas. Says hes encouraged by news that pfizers trials show their vaccine is 90 effective may soon be ready for approval by the food and drug administration, but i think that it exceeded the expectations of lots of. That scene developers and immunologist and clinicians after approval pfizer will shift toward manufacturing and distributing the vaccine there could be a significant role out of vaccine by the first or 2nd quarter of calendar year 21, however, one major distribution challenge. The vaccine needs to be stored at 94 degrees below 0 and not every hospital has the required equipment you have to verified you got the good side to take care of the vaccine to make sure that is going to still be efficacious when youre administering it to be out to the general public until patients were care associate medical director doctor Anthony Harris says the handling and distribution of this vaccine under these requirements will need cooperation from state and federal agencies, its going to be paramount things are done properly to ensure people are confident in the safety as well as efficacy of the vaccine, but both Health Experts have faith in the process this is being figured out and that it will not be a major impediment to are. To distribution a vaccine. Pfizer estimates it will produce 50 million doses this year. Reporting in washington, im basil john. We want justice for what was done to her. Im Rebecca Strom in the kron 4 Weather Center in for john trail on this cold monday morning. Were definitely seeing a dark skies darkened early is what we like to call it around the bay area and were seeing that in our live camera our zone berkeley and we could see a little bit some more clear than what weve been not a whole lot of fog in your way not a whole lot of cloud cover. But it is quite cold were going to see temperatures drop into the 40s during these Early Morning hours before finally getting into the 50s and some low 60s on the board, but right now you can see 45 in nevada right now 55 in downtown San Francisco, were looking at 50 along the east bay shoreline hayward youre at 50 45 though in fremont and in downtown san jose chilly out manioc as well at 47 degrees so make sure that you bundle up this morning as you make your way out of the house tomorrow is going to change though for the morning commute youre going to need to toss that umbrella into your car as well were tracking a storm system coming out of the pacific northwest. Its going to be bringing us a lot of rainfall as we get into tomorrow morning. It looks like and the commute is going to be a wet one salive nice and early and were going to see the rain sticking with us throughout the entire day tomorrow on and off shower activity. And were also going to get some snow possibly in the sierras well out of the storm system into wednesday, its going to some scattered showers so make sure they have the umbrella for wednesday as well and your rain coats and then it should be a starting to dry out as we get into thursday. So its going to be very breezy very windy conditions and its going to be wet out there through wednesday. So how much rain are we these numbers are looking good and well take anything now this point right, were looking at about an inch for parts like in santa rosa for north bay zone about a half an inch expected in San Francisco a little over half for downtown were expecting out of this storm system and look at that Half Moon Bay about 3 quarters of an inch. So were definitely going to pretty wet around the bay area. Much needed rainfall. Now as we get into tuesday and wednesday a still that scattered shower activity that were going to be seeing and the temperatures mainly in the 60s for the afternoon highs and then were going to that inland around the bay pretty evenly spread to low 60s and then were going to get into the 50s at the coast and then thursday though were going to expect a much drier conditions but those overnight lows are really going to drop raman were going to see a were going to see a drop into the 30s and even the 40s so ill be talking about said just how chilly its going to get over nice, ill have those details coming up from hes sounds good. I think this is the new normal. The data shows that reason i b m study says well more than half the people would like to continue Remote Working 75 of them thought that going into the office now and again would be helpful that i people need a change of venue after a sure is nice to come home, some new and refreshing you dont really get that if you work from home all day every day. Though some companies will give up their pricey real estate, many firms believe that some sort of Office Environment will continue to be necessary. We believe that even if people are working from home. Its going to be important that they have our offices to come together collaborate thing kept time would be good. Like taking still have the social interaction at work. But i can also have some time that i can do my own work from home with my time management which means down the road companies will need to support and embrace hybrid work environment, even as Remote Working continues to grow.
