Bay at red flag warning in effect as well so weve got Team Coverage once again we have will tran hes standing by in napa county covering the power shut offs Sarah Stinson is in San Mateo County with the latest on those red flag warnings. First lets start in the Weather Center with john trouble. Yeah guys, those red flag warnings definitely concerning still across the bay area weve been seeing them for much of the week so far and we are keeping them going for yet another day extended last night in fact now what were going to be seeing today are dry conditions across the bay which definitely contributes on top of the windy and warm weather that we also have you look outside right now at San Francisco shows you clear skies makes for a beautiful view, but definitely not a lot of marine layer to be talking about out there thats why we have red flag warnings that the coast in areas like Half Moon Bay pacifica up in upper elevations in the Santa Cruz Mountains inland east bay, all of us a in lake countys most to napa county and we continue to see them in upper elevations, a marine and sonoma counties as winds regularly gust as high as 40 Miles Per Hour. And not just windy but also quite dry with plenty of dry tender this time of year as for temperatures right now it is nice and cool in napa and santa rosa as well as novato all in the 40s currently oakland and hayward in the 50s while little more mild in areas like redwood city palo alto in fremont each kicking off this new day in the mid 60s. Im talking where winds are headed next into the weekend still to come. First, lets get a look at traffic with robin it doesnt look too bad out there on the bay bridge right right not too bad the filling and quickly john were still hot spot free thats a great way to start your morning commute but the line is growing, lets take a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza see that back of thats forming right down the middle its getting busier and busier on 80 into San Francisco, but no crashes no stalls no hot spots and easy 12 minutes off to the fremont street exit were checking in on some drive times and they look pretty good so far i dont see any big problems out there the east shore 24 5. 80 and the nimitz all nice and light with no major trouble spot so daryn james coming up. Well take a look at more bridges and more drive times back to you all right, thank you lets get back to the red flag warning thats in effect for parts of the bay area now because the high winds and the dry conditions. Yeah that will be with us at least for the next couple of days kron 4 Sarah Stinson live in San Mateo County. Where weather conditions. There obviously are big concerns. Sarah. Yeah as you said not only those high winds are going to be continuing. But also look at the dry fuels behind me these high and very dense dry fuels. That are all around the bay area but here live in San Mateo County. Its now a concern because the red flag warning has extended here, its also extended for the other affected areas until tomorrow and i wouldnt be surprised if it continues throughout the weekend you can see on the map all in red are the affected areas, including north bay mountains east bay hills and interior valleys as well as the Santa Cruz Mountains and San Mateo County coast as i said we have more winds in the forecast up to up in the mountains and ridges of 10 to 25 Miles Per Hour with gusts up to 40 Miles Per Hour. Valleys could see gusts up to 35 Miles Per Hour. And the coast could also see gusts up to 40 Miles Per Hour. That combined with extremely dry conditions as youre seeing right now historically dry fuels. This causes potential for a fire to not only spark easier, but also spread rappel rapidly theres also a fire weather watch in effect right now so that combines the red flag warning cause for major concern you know who you are if you have that go bag ready and if you dont make she get ready and lets do everything we can to prevent a spark from spreading into a wildfire that is what we want to avoid because this weekend as john troubles been covering the winds are only going to continue so definitely continue to be aware, well keep you updated right here on the kron 00 04am morning news for now im live in San Mateo County ill send it back to you all right, thanks a lot sara james. Well the other big story that were following this morning of course the fact that thousands of people all across the bay area are waiting to see if theyll lose power during the next round of the pga power shut offs. So this is some of the latest video from pga. We also have their outage map to that were checking constantly and thats the map where the indicate not only who has lost power so far but also where the next communities could be that could potentially lose power and of course, the big concerns in the north bay thats where the largest section of customers could be affected kron fours will tran live for us in napa county with more on the story well. James a lot of people scratching their heads thinking why is this even necessary. But now it might not be a question of if but when their lights will be turned off. I can tell you its a little bit gustier than it was at the 5 oclock hour. We chose this location. This is base camp for pg and e just outside of saint helene a look at how busy it is right now i mean they even have traffic. Control look at all those vehicles off in the distance. Keep in mind pg and e is doing 2 things one theyre still restoring power. 2 communities that were wiped out because of the glass fire which by the way is still burning just because its 100 contained does not mean that it still not burning so they have to restore power and then they have to shut off power for those who still have it for now because they are fearful that their lines could go down once the win. Picks up. Now in napa county yesterday i was telling you approximately 4300 customers could be in the dark. Now the numbers a little bit less at around 3200 customers hopefully it continues to go down and down especially with the conditions. Hopefully not as bad as anticipated. In Alameda County youre looking at about 335 customers in Contra Costa County. 200 customers, the bottom line is 15 counties all together, 37,000 customers could be in the dark by tonight, especially with the dry conditions. So the bottom line is a lot of people theyre not even sitting around wondering if its going to happen they are preparing for it to happen. Without power. I have no water. Dont know electricity so. Its not fun for people up there. What theyre going through he just lived through whether we have to live through. And then. Hope it all goes back to normal someday. So you can see at base camp right now they are coming and going this is around the clock operation being here james story i can still smell the smoke in the air because the glass fire is only a few miles from this location. So theres still so much work for pga need to do and even if they turn off the lights, they still have to inspect the lines is not as easy as flipping on this which the last thing you want to do is to try to prevent a wildfire only to flip the switch and then realize some of your power lines were damaged and were down on the ground and then you energize the field sets another wildfire, so the goal is for them to expected and after inspection they will have the lights back on within 12 hours. So i can imagine pg and e they have their hands full. Here are restoring power and monitoring the situation for quite some time. Sores part thats what they need they need to switch. Thats safe. Because thats the frustrating part well is when youre just waiting and waiting and waiting for that long process to turn the power back on. All right you get the kron on app of the crown for avenue get the very latest on when the power is out when its on in your neighborhood and you can even add the interactive maps there so you know whats coming next. And county is finally allowing businesses to offer more services indoors. The county moved into the less restrictive here actually 2 weeks ago it would have allowed Indoor Dining but the leaders decided to wait until now to allow that so now restaurants will be allowed to have 25 seating capacity. Indoors and bowling alleys climbing walls and movie theaters indoor gyms those can also be a 25 indoor capacity. Indoor pools, not ok, yes, you cant swim at the big public indoor private indoor pools, Businesses Owners in downtown pleasanton said they are relieved that the county is opening up. Laying off people. Just something you just dont want to go through. And dont look forward ever having to go through it again thats for well see if people want to come indoors. Im and im a little were starting to book a lot of reservations which is a good sign for indoors. But well see Going Forward how it how it plays out we. First lake delton how he was moving a little slower than wed like to seen. Especially when we Contra Costa County right next to us opening thing sooner and its confusing to people in the tri valley because we think of ourselves as one regicide. All of these new measures go into Effect Tomorrow james. Well, this is where bay area counties currently stand when it comes to reopening got San Francisco in the least restrictive tear you see that little doubt a yellow everybody else though in higher level to get napa alameda and santa clara counties there in the moderate tier. Those are those counties in orange and they got san mateo contra costa and solano and marin counties to theyre still in the substantial level which is labeled in that pink reddish and then of course youve got sonoma thats the only bay area county thats still in the widespread purple designation. 6. 10 is the time and a big win for Californias Republican Party the Major Court Ruling and how it impacts the election coming up were going to have that. Plus after the break. The president and democratic nominee joe biden are getting ready to rumble theyre squaring off and tonights last debate. So well tell you what to expect john and talk and changes in your forecast winds will stay with us, but at least were backing off the warm temperatures daytime highs today in the low 80s for san jose 70s in San Francisco and oakland. Ive got more on your forecast ahead. And of course, im tracking your morning commute around the bay area and its getting pretty busy and crowded at the bay bridge toll plaza, heres a live look at the line is growing already stacked up beyond the end the overcrossing get out there early well check more bridges coming up. We are weve got john trouble standing by in the Weather Center or. Weather center by the way you havent notice i like because he like behind us you get a good look at outside in. I like to see what im going to be in see, and you dont need me anymore. We have windows and they come in no fog you can actually see out there which is the nicest part of all of it, i mean look at berkeley beautiful start to the morning. So far as we work our way through the day today, we get plenty of sunshine for yet another day so thats the nice thing about todays forecast the not so nice were keeping the winds around as we really well to the forecast ahead of us. Over the weekend and into next week too so theres the catch to all of it. Its just increasingly nice but increasingly windy too looking out there winds this morning pretty calm for areas like sandra fell down to mountain view, san jose and oakland, definitely breezy for some of our north bay and inland east bay neighbors as we work our way into the evening tonight, winds become more widespread bit closer to the coast and after spur bayshore areas to oakland and hayward well be seeing winds gusting into a 20 mile per hour range at times. Tomorrow we come down initially winds work their way back up into the evening for your friday night. Saturday night much the same and then come sunday which actually looks to be the windiest one in this not just for those upper elevations in the north bay but all across the region. Look at some of these projected wind gusts by the time we work through monday or sunday night into monday morning here oakland you could be seeing winds gusting as high as 50 Miles Per Hour hayward into that near 50 mile per hour range sandra fell San Francisco calistoga also very similar. This is its a pretty sizable cooldown that will take us down into the 70s feeling a lot more like fall, but in the midst of this cooldown still very windy conditions now as of right now red flag warnings do remain in effect through tomorrow evening for upper elevations and coastal areas on the peninsula are inland east bay areas all of napa and lake counties most of so our county and then upper elevations of sonoma and marin counties again these are in effect through tomorrow night but with winds remaining a part of this forecast. I anticipate were going to see at least some fire weather watch is extended through the weekend. High pressure is backing off now in a dip in the jet stream is bringing with it some cooler weather. But as you can also see some pretty significant winds coming along with those changes so were not out of the windy woods just yet. Temperatures today in the 60s and 70s for highs at the coast little bit cooler than yesterday for a few spots most notably along the bay shore in inland too though with millbrae in brisbane back into the 70s today, few 80s thing on the right along the bay shore like in foster city, redwood city and san carlos, south bay temperatures today in the low 80s santa clara, san jose each at 80 degrees while sunnyvale cupertino and saratoga each also at 80 temperatures in livermore 81 pleasanton dublin at 8283 70s on the bayshore in Fremont Union city Richmond Berkeley oakland and san leandro youll be a 82 conquered walnut creek mideighties for you while temperatures in the north bay, upper 70s to low to mid 80s. No 90s left you have those yesterday in fairfield and vacaville, not today though as for temperatures towards the coast. Some 60s mill valley, one of the more comfortable spots at 78 today. So inland areas still on the warm side today 80s for your daytime highs for inland areas by friday and for the rest of the weekend though look at where were heading some 70s anticipated that will lead through the weekend into the start of next week. Bay shore areas are also in for quite the cool down a few 80s along the bay shore today, but no longer come the weekend in fact only 60s by saturday and sunday, coastal areas also in for a cool down from the 70s to the 60s for the rest of the forecast after today. Thats a look at the numbers robin whats it like on the roads i still havent found any hot spots john so the roads are looking pretty good except its picking up way out after is a live look at bay bridge toll plaza and its doing just fine so far at least its quiet. So no big trouble spots but look at the line here its filled all the way back to the 80 overcrossing and growing its going to get to west grand and then the bottom of so its pretty decent right now 12 minutes is your average off to the fremont street exit were checking the richmond sandra fell bridge. No problems here at the toll plaza still light still quiet into the north bay thats what we like to see and were checking in on one oh one heads up for stalled, northbound its right here at 92 at the split and sam, a tale you see how its backing up traffic there so keep that in mind a little slow north one oh one approaching the 92 split were checking in on the nimitz because our road work is still underway southbound or 92, so thats causing some congestion from 2. 38 heading south up to 92, so if you have to take the nimitz freeway were at 29 minutes and growing because of that construction out to 2. 37 saw keep my eyes on it well check more traffic coming up back to you thanks a lot robin 6. 19 stage is coming together for the final president ial debate. Yeah weve got John Standing by in the Weather Center with more on what we can expect is this the final day of the red flag warning or do we have one more so as of right now red flag warnings are set to expire tomorrow night. I would not be surprise one single bit if they were extended even as temperatures cool down into the weekend. Were still going to be holding on to these winds for really much of the forecast ahead of us. Which does have a lot of officials concerned about fire danger well through the weekend and even into the start of next week. Now as far as this morning goes the nice stuff, hey, its beautiful Crystal Clear we are looking at another fog free morning across the bay area briefly saw fog at the golden gate. Earlier this week had a sense departed us now and its back to the dry conditions which is another factor that does contribute to our heightened fire danger at the coast and in daly city red flag warnings actively in effect through tomorrow, upper elevations on the peninsula. All of the inland east bay all of solano and lake counties most napa and then upper elevations of sonoma and marin counties all affected by these red flag warnings that weve been talking so much about but they do remain because winds remain a steady part of this forecast even though we are cooling down gusting as high today yet again as 40 Miles Per Hour. Still dark out there and temperatures. Well, theyre nice and cool right now were in the 40s in the north bay 50s and 60s elsewhere in the bay. Im talking what else to expect this afternoon still to come but first, weve got to get a look at the roads with robin and it looks like its not the worst out there at least just yet youre right its not that bad job, but the lines are getting longer and longer, especially heading into San Francisco were taking a live look at 92 and checking in on the san mateo bridge there. It is. This is the traffic thats levy hayward right now heading over to the finance about the line is getting longer it starts at the tolls it continues to the high rise. Were already up to 14 minutes to make it from the east bay off to one o one, heres the bay bridge trip from oakland to San Francisco and in fact as well no crashes, no stalls but i recommend you get on out there right now because its busy so were at 12 minutes and growing to make it from downtown oakland, leaving the bottom of the maze and working your way west on 80 into San Francisco so coming up well check in on the richmond sandra fell also take a peek at one oh one and see how traffic is moving across the golden gate james darya. All right, thank you very much robin. Well just moments ago republican senators on capitol hill took a crucial vote moving judge Amy Coney Barrett one step closer to becoming a Supreme Court justice and it appears theres nothing the democrats can do even though theyre not showing up before todays hearing and the vote dc correspondent kelli meyer is live this morning. So it doesnt matter that theyre not there. They have enough to pass this. Yeah, it looks like republicans went ahead with this and all about 25 minutes went through with what they call the markup and then the vote. All 12 republicans voting in support of advancing judge Amy Coney Barrett to a full senate vote. No democrats voting in favor of that and normally it would be that you would have to have 2 democrats present in the room to go forward its according to the rules of the committee but republicans seem to have changed the rules are went forward with this process anyways. Chairman Lindsey Graham is celebrating saying to colleagues and to reporters that we did it we got her through and now she will become Justice Barrett soon to come. Watching the very latest here on capitol hill to see how this nomination continues to move forward in that stay tuned kron 4 for that dont forget to the president ial debate is tonight as well all things politics to keep it to the kron 4 thats right were 12 days away from the debate. I mean on the boat started the debate is tonight but. Now the election is coming soon and the fbi is just now warning of foreign interference that happen. They discovered russia and iran. They had sent 25,000 jea males out threatening voters saying vote for trump or else kron fours reyna harvey is live in Contra Costa County i dont know about here. I know florida and alaska people receive these reyna. Daria good morning people are already showing up outside of this polling location here martinez. So it seems like theyre not going to allow that to stop them from loading, although like you mentioned the Intelligence Community cautioning people this morning telling them that this is happening these foreign entities trying to interrupt the election process by confusing voters and try to suppress votes as well now they were able to get ahold of thousands like you mentioned a voters information they start sending out emails to trying to give them Incorrect Information about president ial candidates along with saying that they were false ballots being found from overseas so theyre trying to get all of this information into the american publics minds so that will discourage them from turning out like i mentioned i am people already showing up this morning turn in those early voting mail ballots. Now we hear directly from the Intelligence Community and what theyre telling people this morning take a listen. You should be confident that your vote counts. Early unverified claims to the contrary should be viewed with a healthy dose of skepticism. We encourage everyone to seek election and voting information from reliable sources namely your state Election Officials. And to be thoughtful careful and discerning consumers of Information Online. With there being so much Information Online Election Officials are just telling people to continue to stay vigilant and be very weary of where you get that information from and theyre also saying to just trust the election process and it seems like bay area residents are doing that with already showing up before they head to work to cast their ballots this morning for now reporting here martinez reyna harvey kron 4 year all right, thanks a lot reyna. Californias Republican Party does not have to hand over the names and addresses of voters who use the partys ballot boxes a Sacramento Superior Court judge rejected the state attorney general and secretary of states demand for that information. The legal battle stems from those unauthorized ballot drop boxes that the states gop party placed across 3 counties. The party also set up some boxes in gop offices and near gun shops and churches. It will be theyd help before the Republican Partys voluntarily hand over to secretary of state, the names of voters trusted theres out to us we believe theyre entitled to privacy 3 do intend to respond formally in writing to discovery requests that propounded on us, but they may. They may not be able to get all the information they want but for now its round one but what to us. A spokesperson for the attorney general says that they will continue to review the matter to ensure that every voter has their voices heard state Democratic Leaders say the boxes are illegal. While republicans remain confident they are in line with state ballot collection laws. Beautiful way to start the day i really do hope you get a chance to get out before winds pick up this afternoon and make for our high fire danger yet again as we are in the midst, a red flag warning still you can see portions of the north bay are looking at some breezy conditions already although most of the bay is actually pretty calm right now. Now as we work our way into the afternoon today you are going to be noticing winds picking up tomorrow is going to be the same way another windy finish your day on friday.
