And in december the world will again more in on the 40 years that have passed since john lennon was murdered in front of his home in new york city. Theres a brand new book that looks at john lennon in 1980 the year that he died the title is john lennon in 1980 play list. Team english is the author attorney joins me this morning, tim thanks a lot for joining us this morning. What made you want to focus on what made you want to focus on the music that affected john in the final year of his life. I guess i try write a book that i would want to read i thought it was a good way of bringing new information about someone said so much written about him want to try to do is looking looking at the music. He was listening to every year some new insights into what was going on and his wife died year. What was john listening to in the late 1970s and into disco and punk were starting to become huge. What did john think about that. Eli jobs, a big fan of blondie in fact he wrote a note to ring go at one time saying that he do a song sort of like blondies heart of glass. He also won blondies 1980 song of the tide is high. It found out its not actually went to see the bow. New york club even before they had an album out probably 1977. Yeah he was a was a big fan of disco he like donna summer a lot he was interviewed in 1975 about what you see in body like the first thing he said which okay, i think a lot of people would find that tim o what was the inspiration between behind jons creative as he had just recorded double fantasy. They were always kind of sniping back and forth each other. By i found a couple of folks from of all. Tell us a little bit about the influence of the bay areas doobie brothers had on john i think a lot of people would be surprised by that. Well i i interact with a lot of thought you know maniacs online you know understandably a lot of people think theyve heard it all in red at all, i actually found john had a copy of their album minute by minute from 1978 is huge album that contained wonderful bullies. And another song on there dont stop to watch the wheels and you know i speculate that i think is pretty accurate to john may have caught that title by watching the wheels of 4. His own song watching wields he had been working on that song for a year more and the title of that changed in 1979 that was originally called emotional wrecks and then it morphed into watching we also speculate, but i think probably the case john got idol watching the wheels from that well be brothers song. What surprised you most about john lennon in 1980 is youre doing research for the book. I would say 2 things one was his love for yoccos music. I kind of discovered the reason why was he why he was back in the studio just over 2 weeks after double fantasy that im out is back in the studio finishing this track. It started for yoko in the summer. John and heard that Midlands Club<\/a> that plane joko stumble fantasy song kiss kiss kiss at the disco and john mistress rell that did it people in new york in disco deejays were fined songs he said we got to put out a song of parts, especially for those guys, especially from disco market and thats why watching the wheels for the another thing i would mention is just yet. There are several times and walking on thin ice is one of cases the song songs working on the go pills when he when he was killed.
