Shake hands and the president s family was seen in the audience, not Wearing Masks on wednesday, the president traveled to minnesota where he attended an outdoor rally and an indoor private fundraiser that was also on wednesday that hope hicks wednesday night one of the president s top aides tested positive for covid19 however that was not revealed until thursday, when it was first reported by Bloomberg News and other Media Outlets that same day President Trump announced he and First Lady Melania Trump had been tested for the coronavirus it was just 24 hours ago when we learned they both tested positive and the president first lady started isolating at the white house, so dan thorn is joining us now with more on things that theyve been unfolding throughout the last couple of days. Dan a lot going on today alone. Right ken and pam what we know right now is that the president and the doctor for the president say he is doing well tonight. This after he had been exhibiting some symptoms of coronavirus has been dealing with a fever. Hes been dealing shortness of breath. Hes also been dealing with some fatigue. This afternoon President Trump was seen wearing a mask walking in giving a thumbs up on the south lawn before boarding marine one to walter reed hospital, the white house says the president will be working from a president ial suite and walter reed for the next few days at this point there has been no transfer of power to Vice President mike pence as we mentioned President Trumps doctor says that the president has not needed supplemental oxygen at it and has however been recommended that the president undergo remdesivir therapy and this after he was already given an experimental antibody cocktail to help his body battle covid19. 20 of the average person who has this infection about 20 will be hospitalized. The for people over 65 is much higher than 20 of it is concerning and hes already having issues breathing and we dont know if hes having chest pain. As might. Well tonight the president says as we mentioned that he thinks that hes doing. Well. Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump has also tested positive says that she too is experiencing mild symptoms but says overall shes feeling, okay, shes expected to continue isolating at the white house. So far the president s son barron and daughter ivanka have tested negative. The president s son in law Jared Kushner has also tested negative. And so i think one of the things we talked about some of us today is how one the president is getting the best medical care and we want to make sure that everyone in the country gets the best medical care so we voted yesterday on the heroes bill the republicans would support and included 75 billion testing tracing and followup medical care and in that bill. We targeted funding for black and brown communities which are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus and so i think this is many ways a wakeup call. And for those who dont believe that they would be able that they would get the i think that this shows what the president and first lady and what has happened with them that knows no boundaries it it does not discriminate and so be healthy be safe and follow what our help. So Health Professionals and what our scientists i have put in place as the appropriate protocols. Congresswoman you think that wakeup call has been received because today we the chief of staff mark meadows outside on the white house lawn talking to reporters not wearing a mask we havent that theres any kind of new edict at the white house or at the capitol for that matter matter there are stringent protocols in place in light of what just happened with the president. Well i hope that if the white in that market, i know mark from serving with them in congress they heed the call of of doctor fauci and our Health Experts do the right thing and its its outrageous. And social distancing ive noticed, you know members may forget and we all try to make sure we tell each other youre not 6 feet away move over. We have hearings remotely and so i think as we move forward, of course theyre going to look at this new information and look at how was but when you look at the rose garden and when you look at the senate and when you look unfortunately mostly republicans have their just disregarding a lot of would keep people healthy and safe. And so im sure that doctor doctor mark by him and them are revisiting everything and they need to tighten up they well. You mentioned that the heroes did not succeed going on the vote. In terms of one state and local government we may have to make sure that their resources that go to state local government because these public things higher essential workers who provide the services for people and people are living on the edge and they need Government Services and so theres a big gap there in terms of the republicans and the democrats but you know i have to have a glimmer of hope that theyll see the light now the republicans because i can tell you democrats. Voted for this bill we put money in for as i said Contact Tracing testing we put more money and to make our schools safer to help our where schools are opening up. We put resources in there for a small businesses. For for the airlines. We put funding and for many many provisions people need and so im hoping that and we all are hoping that in the next few days that i jen you know come up with a reasonable counteroffer if Mitch Mcconnell accepts that then we could get this done, we still arent there. But the democrats we did pass this last night congresswoman were looking at pictures from last weeks president ial with the President Trump and. Joe biden where they were separated by more than 6 feet but there was concern about the the health of the former Vice President hes tested been tested at least twice and hes tested negative. I dont know if you had chance to talk senator Kamala Harris about the upcoming Vice President ial debate. But do you have any concerns about the format of the debate how far apart they will be the guests in the audience mass requirements and so on. Absolutely i havent spoken with her, but i certainly will and i see now that the Debate Commission has allowed for 12 feet. Rather than the 6 feet but still if you ask its still very dangerous. You know this virus is now but we dont know what where its going. And so i think that we need to a strict protocols in place that we can when in fact people are on stage together. You know i still wear a mask when i speak on the floor, some members do some numbers down. But i think given the deadly nature of this virus. We have to be very very disciplined. And the health care suggestions.
