morning. i'm moving forward how will today's session look any different than what we've been seeing all week. hey good morning to you as well we're going to see 2 major differences play out today one in terms of the length. >>it's going to be a shorter session and we've seen earlier in the week yesterday senate majority leader mitch mcconnell said that this is going to last for several hours, it's going to be starting at 10 o'clock local time here in washington from staffers that i've talked to over on the hill. they think this should be wrapped up around 1 o'clock this afternoon so a pretty big difference from the marathon late night sessions that we were seeing earlier in the week so it's not likely it's going to go much past 1 o'clock but again as i always say this is washington and anything could happen the second major difference and we're going to be seeing the you touched on is that this is the first day that the president's legal team will be able to present their arguments in the president's defense up until this point we've only heard from the house democratic managers presenting their case against the president. so starting soon it will be interesting to get a feel as to how the president's legal counsel will be approaching his defense over the next few days. there's still the question of witnesses do you think we're going to hear from any. well that's the million-dollar question and it's really become a sticking point here in washington, there is the potential that we could see more witnesses called in during the trial. but that's something that has to be voted on and will likely be voted on later this week something to keep in mind in order to hear from those witnesses at least 4 republicans have to break ranks and vote with democrats in order to make those witnesses are that have forced those witnesses to be brought into the process a lot of democrats say they do want to hear from witnesses but then again you've got a lot of republicans who say this is a necessary so again that vote is going to happen later this week definitely something to keep your eyes on definitely and what does president have to say now about his defense team finally being able to present his case. was up so looking forward to that he's not happy about the fact that it's happening on a saturday, though originally his defense team was going to start their arguments this coming monday, but there were some initial rule changes that were made earlier this week that caused his defense team to have to start their arguments today on a saturday during the shorter session yesterday the president tweeted out that he thing saturday television is as he puts it. the death valley of television. he worries that not many people are going to be watching these proceedings play out on saturday. so it's certainly going to be worth watching to see what his reaction is throughout the day and again once today's session wraps up his team will continue their arguments on monday all right trevor shirley thanks a lot for that update. let's go ahead and bring it back here home to the bay area and take a look outside from the embarcadero this morning quite bit of a blue tinge this morning, some clouds in the background to in the shot from the embarcadero. >>camera we're going to get the latest on the forecast here for america can or a higher. hi good morning things are looking a pretty good night a little cloudy. yeah we're also seeing some patchy fog in some places in the bay area in fact uh looking out over the golden gate bridge right now can't really see that half of the bridge because of that fog. >>yeah, but when so pretty light as you can see via flag on the distance it is not moving at also expects common light winds the rest of asked for fog throughout the rest of california. we do have a dense fog advisory that will be in effect until 10 o'clock this morning in case you happen to be a traveling out to stockton or mud esto especially on interstate 5 this morning or highway 99 remember to have your headlights on and be safe when you're driving out there so. >>checking in on our airports there is no delays at the moment we did see some drizzle overnight. and of course a low clouds so we do have a weak storm that will be approaching later today, we're all ready seen an increase in our moisture because our dew points are a little higher this morning. we will see an increase in our clouds as well later today, and some rain we can expect to get up to one inch of precipitation in our mountains and the rest of the bay deals, san mateo county police recovered more than $2 million of worth of stolen property from the e legal fencing operation. they say they found everything from laptops and phones to designer bags property that was stolen in that was tied back to these criminal so we're very thankful to have them off the streets now we definitely feel this is the tip of the iceberg with this group and through this investigation we definitely feel like we will be revealing a lot more. >>well the suspects were tracked to homes in daly city pacific eye and san francisco police say that members of the team. >>bought a million dollar home along with a mazda rodea bmw and a tesla with all the money they made. >>from the black market deals. police also recovered a $150,000 in cash. coming up on kron 4 news weekend in east bay family wants some answers after a nearly a month after their loved one was shot and killed we have their powerful message coming out. 41 people have been killed and more than 1000 are sick in the corona virus outbreak will have the latest on those i was getting ready to head to miami for super bowl 54 and they've been taking his spending the week taking a deep look at their opponent. the kansas city chiefs now a lot of experts are saying the chiefs offense, islam unlike anything the niners have seen so far this year kron four's jason dumas says more. was there at we have 3 receivers a you know under 4, 4, the quarterbacks, i'm sure it's the niners to enter the matchup of one of the best defensive units in the nfl their pass rush has absolutely wrecked offensive. offseason alert. >>the city have a quarterback you can escape pressure the best of it. addressing congress, you know, >>you know, i know pat mahomes as an arm and you know is one the town and you know, he's got speed on the outside they can you know it will make their service to and you know played really good limit explosives and are we do a good job of front with containing within the pocket in you know really bringing pressure you know early and just says that niners defense has wrecked game plans. that she's offense has done the same thing. >>it's a strength for strength, but the niners defense has a confidence about them that they believe they can stop anyone that's what has great players be great and that's that's what kind of it hampers and keeps other players from being greater reach their potential is because you either get confidence or there or you lose it. >>and once you lose it is hard to find a gamble want you as having his heartache for me and but yeah i think we believe it is in each other we believe in this game we believe in what we've done all year and and we plan on going out there and put in a good, you know could put it on tape and see an argos reporting in santa clara jason dumas scrum for >>and we'll keep be keeping you updated on all things forty-niners right up to the super bowl be sure to check out the red and gold zone big game the difference between words and actions matters. that's a lesson washington dc could use, right now. i'm tom steyer and i approve this message. extra life. extra power. extra life. extra power. extra life. - power. - life. power. extra life. no need to argue. vs. coppertop,... duracell optimum delivers extra life in some devices or extra power in others. >>good morning, welcome back to kron 4 news weekend sneaking a peek looking at the embarcadero camera this morning eric cantor is filling in for dave with forecasts. >>yeah, well right now we're seeing some patchy fog to it is supporting try for now, but we do have some rain she works for now later today in fact of the north bay will be the first to see the rain moving through the system now pretty weak. i'll tell you more about it just a bit but let's check in actually up there in the north bay since we're talking that area petaluma seeing some cloudy conditions right now as for any weather alerts the only thing that is in effect is this beach hazard statement and that will be it through 11:00am so if you're going to be along the coast from sonoma county down to monterey county just be very careful because there is a possibility of sneaker waves that could reach up to 20 feet so. avoid the jetties if you checking in on our satellite and radar right now we do have this high pressure to the south which is why our temperatures are actually little. above normal for this time of year, but we do have a low pressure system here bringing some rain to the northern tip and california and even some snow up in oregon and washington right now so here's future cast around 10:00am a some parts of the bay area in east bexar actually going to see some blue today but to the most clouds are going to be moving in later, this is just before 5 o'clock today and you see here the north bay you're going to get some rain around that time moving through to the east, but this is the first system so this will only affect the north bay, not the south bay and the majority of the east bay won't see rain from this system this is around 8 o'clock. so does continue to move to the east bringing some snow out to the sierras so a second round of rain is going to come in overnight when most of you will be sleeping this is around 3 30 tomorrow morning and with this is a cold front start temperatures will go back down to normal because of this by 00:30am in the morning. we'll just see some light rain along the path. peninsula and the east bay as you can see if you like to sleep in you might not really see the rain by 1015 possibly some sprinkles out the south bay or light showers on that the north they'll be the first to dry up and then by the evening tomorrow you can see it clears up so if you want to do anything outdoors tomorrow afternoon probably be better versus the morning as for our temperatures today for our daytime highs a little above normal in san francisco, usually around 57 this time of year on the coast 63 for half moon bay. millbrae you're looking at a high of 60 from foster city it down a palo alto lower 60's and in the south bay mid 60's, 64 in morgan hill 63 in seminole and pleasant 10 dublin and livermore from concord down to san ramon looking at about 63 degrees which is what we saw for our high yesterday fairfield though actually reach 72 for daytime highs yesterday today will be at 63. the north bay we're going to look at a lower 60's for day time highs so coming up of your extended forecast and if you're heading to the sierra there are some weather alert will be telling about as well. combination is there s and i think it's right out of your respect on them. his like that all the time when the niners get to south beach. the young roster will no doubt feel multiple questions about their limited super bowl experience but richard sherman he's one of the veterans that knows what it's like to go through the entire championship we cry in the corner went to back to back super bowls. >>with the seahawks winning his first in grand fashion in a blog against the broncos. so this is what he thinks about the entire experience >>to be for want to but we haven't experienced one game for seeing some rain up here in the northern part of california and omar county in humboldt county i like i mentioned the clouds will start rolling in this evening and along that is our first round of rain for the north bay. this system will shift to the east and this actually misses the south bay, this is around 00:30pm tonight, it will bring some rain to chico in case you happen to be traveling a sunny skies in case you want to do any outdoor activities but snow of course out in the sierra through the afternoon tomorrow, so from this system we can expect to see about a quarter of an inch of the house impeachment for the democrats making their case against the president that's now turn for the president's team to try and convince senators and the american people while charges against president trump should be dismissed. i spoke with the washington dc correspondent earlier this morning about what we can expect in the senate chambers today, foreign interference. the c 2 major differences play out today one in terms of the length. >>it's going to be a shorter session and we've seen earlier in the week yesterday senate majority leader mitch mcconnell said that this is going to last for several hours from staffers that i've talked to over on the hill. they think this should be wrapped up around 1 o'clock this afternoon so a pretty big difference from the marathon late night sessions that we were seeing earlier in the week so it's not likely it's going to go much past 1 o'clock but again as i always say this is washington and anything could happen the second major difference and we're going to be seeing the you touched on is that this is the first day that the president's legal team will be able to present their arguments in the president's defense up until this point we've only heard from the house democratic managers presenting their case against the president will be interesting to get a feel as to how the president's legal counsel will be approaching his defense over the next few days. still the question of witnesses you think we're going to hear from any. well that's the million-dollar question and it's really become a sticking point here in washington, there is the potential that we could see more witnesses called in during the trial. but that's something that has to be voted on and will likely be voted on later this week something to keep in mind in order to hear from those witnesses at least 4 republicans have to break ranks and vote with democrats in order to make those force those witnesses to be brought into the process a lot of democrats say they do want to hear from witnesses but then again you've got a lot of republicans who say this is a necessary so again that vote is going to happen later this week definitely something to keep your eyes on that definitely and what does president have to say now about his defense team finally being able to present his case. was up so looking forward to that he's not happy about the fact that it's happening on a saturday, though originally his defense team was going to start their arguments this coming monday, rule changes that were made earlier this week that caused his defense team to have to start their arguments today on a saturday during the shorter session yesterday the president tweeted out that he thing saturday television is as he puts it. the death valley of television. he worries that not many people are going to be watching these proceedings play out on saturday. so it's certainly going to be worth watching to see what his reaction is throughout the day and again once today's session wraps up his team will continue their arguments on monday. all right, let's turn our attention now to the weather as we take this live look outside will try up first if you like to sleep in you might not even see the rain. tomorrow and then by the afternoon it does clear app and then the clouds diminish so we'll see mostly sunny skies in the afternoon. casey want to do any outdoor activities so this system will bring us about a quarter of an inch of rain to half an inch of rain and then on our mountains will see up to 3 quarters of an inch of rain to an inch of rain as for winds. it's looking really light right now nor remain like that the rest of this morning. we will see some breezy conditions though up early tomorrow morning with that cold front and that weak storm system that will be shifting through our a high temperatures today will be in the low to mid 60's. so still little above normal because of that high pressure. preventative care a health expert carolhln joins me this morning with the top 4 silent killers of man. sobering thought here is that we as a gender are more likely to get these diseases and we're also least likely to go to a doctor are you letting out i'm happy to say i'm not a good yeah ok go twice year for my check-up great and then when i need good good for you. so what you get mad at >>so some of la yeah that's the abdominal aortic aneurism aneurism is when that vessel law. >>open to can eventually first it's very weak, it's just like a balloon think about blowing up balloons to blow england million and is going to pop yes, yeah, okay, all becomes very weak high blood pressure is ksat. a nurse as smoking has a lot to do with us. yes smoking a history of smoking, so definitely also increasing age so it's definitely a screen that you want to do if you're 65 years and men men are more likely 4 times more likely to have the triple a and woman. so here we have some of the so so men are more likely smokers are highly susceptible and also people with high blood pressure rise in a stroller shoes trust the have cholesterol high blood pressure all of that right thing to hear now obesity all of those you know risk factors for heart disease. >>there the 10th leading cause of death in cook, haitian man com ages 6560 plus move on to number 2 that must take cancer prostate cancer yeah, and that's one of the second leading cancer cause of cancer deaths in men how so i mean in in in the united and then you this one of most common second most common. that requires a psa or else you digital exam to end the psa is what that sit at separate test, blood test actually but there's some controversy about the blood test there is there is ah, but it's so it's really good to talk to your doctor and and and figure out what your risk respect or fear. who's more susceptible among men so so yes, sir, the man so 50 years and older african-americans are also so though they have to get a screening earlier then then the the caucasian caucasian still case. >>all right and moving on one that is that is we hear more and more about that's type 2 diabetes. yes, we talk about that a lot, you know one in 3 americans have a type 2 diabetes or pri, diabetes one in 10 have. >>type 2 diabetes and then 90% of the people have pre diabetes don't even know it so it is definitely another silent culture is yes so how do you find out if you have this so that's a blood test couple different types of blood test to the fasting blood sugar as well as the a one c which kind of gets you an average of which are blood sugar is over in couple 2 to 3 months time and so definitely something to screen. we say 45 in up, but it's also based on your risk factors as well and those risk factors are obesity central obesity high blood pressure high cholesterol seeing diabetes in younger children well in tebms, so you know that 45 age you know it's kind of goes down down down also there's an ethnic component here as well, yes, asian americans making a native black and hispanic cousin are also or susceptible ts so if you fit any of these family which includes a lot of people that this is something you should be talking to doctor brantley screening to really should because like you said you a lot of people don't even know they have pre diabetes and that's when you really want to cap catch it so that you ordered full fledged eyes let's go to number to yeah that that that is definitely 50 years and and ah unless you have some kind of type a family history. that's the colonoscopy yeah, a lot of men don't a lot of people to still most people don't like in my wife's head and other of us is much to the of the pratt that so that's what i guess yeah it's the that the test maybe not so much because is cold yes right, it's that prep so you definitely need to do those to the bottom line here is is to go to talk to her call your doctor make an appointment and get this tr delicious high-fiber raisin bran. you sure you don't want me to come with you? i'm very sure. because i can. (laughs) make good choices. you make good choices. i am. fiber is good for digestive health. good choices never tasted so good. kellogg's raisin bran. >>you have rain your kind you are a hero. >>well places looking really clear seen blue skies and sun all the east bay though we will start to see those clouds moving in later this afternoon so fast forward to just before 11 this morning still seeing some a sunny skies in the east bay and a parts of south bay there and then that cloud cover moves and around 4 35 o'clock this evening along with this first rain system here that will hit the north bay, so we'll see light to moderate showers moving to the east and it also bring some snow to the sierra but that's not the system that's going to bring rain to the east and the south bay. we have a second system here that will calm overnight when most of you will be sleeping this is i just after 4 o'clock in the morning tomorrow we see some moderate showers a band of it moving through the east bay first and with this system is a cold front. that cold front will bring our temperatures back down to normal today. we are a little above normal and then this is 6 o'clock tomorrow morning seeing some light showers and the peninsula in the east bay there in case here early riser and will be out and about doing a aaron's and what not some but if you like to sleep and you probably won't see the rain, especially if you're in that north bay will be the first to dry up this is just after 8 o'clock tomorrow morning possibly see some showers popping up on the peninsula, south bay and then it really it tapers off there in the afternoon in claire's apple c a a partly sunny skies by 5 o'clock fair in case you have any outdoor activities that you wanted to. so this system or expect to get about a quarter to half an inch of rain and then this the higher elevations will get about an inch of rain from that system our winds right now looking a very light and it should remain like that for the rest of this morning. we will see breezy conditions so with that cold front that will move through overnight. so our daytime highs in the 60's a low to mid 60's across the bay area because of high coming out story which takes place at a reunion with friends who discover the value of real joining me this morning to talk more about this brand new play the playwright ryan fogarty and one of the 6 actors in the play a vital. thank you both for joining us this morning, no no it's bright and early for to get up this morning around us are with you have to ask about the title the play you'll catch flies where did that come it's an old saying about you know keeping around closed its little improperly so little bit of a nod being shocked so when you're shocked might. >>talk about that and so keep a clear sense that we see a lot of good shots from the audience to tell us more about the inspiration behind this play your very first one congratulations by the way and this is my first big shout out to your conservatory theater center for giving me my first yeah the inspiration for the plane came from really i think the time in our lives the winner in early 30's. i'd say where our friendship group starts to change a little bit and we might not realize it and then it sort of starts to change right of >>so there's a does this come from real ife. yeah short to fight comes from several conversations i've had in recent years where you're just sort of noticing her my friend is. >>i'm really seeing eye anymore. and a lot of things or maybe we're not a and then and it's okay and and it's you might hear our might break a little bit. but i think you both kind of acknowledged that things are changing and you're both going on separate ways, yeah part of life, yeah. >>o how did how did you prepare for this will first of all tell us about your role and then how do you prepare for that well play marcos outside kind of a member of the group is not super and but he. you he left for spain 3 years ago and he's coming back to this reunion party. before he left he wasn't completely out. now he's coming back to this party and he is all the way out. he has as haven't seen him since then no and especially one of them, who is his love interest and you know he. they never got to do anything together and now this is maybe his chance to kind of explore that ice and see how that works and how that affects their own their relationship. yeah. i understand that this movie is a comedy but obviously they're going to be some serious overtones. >>what challenges that for an actor to have to be adapted both within moments. i think it's just believing in the circumstances completely and wholly without any doubts and for me it's been a process of its from your sauce, a physical process. so i do a lot stretching kind of feel great exercises to keep myself open. so that when i need to go light, i can go light and when they need to go at can go and the spend it took months, you know months and months of trivia this isn't this isn't something that you just can the immediately jump into is no no it's a slow kind of a painful and then in that you just discover a lot of things about your own even psychology and once you start opening yourself up physically and doing the play in rehearsals you just. see a lot of things of your own personality that you might not like at all. and then you must bring out that that's that's kind of the job that we have so far the process of salute lee ryan tell us about a one of the themes in this play that that focuses on searching for a true connection which model kind of brought out of that here. you know i think one of the other inspirations for play was that you know we have so much to bring us together these days you have we are texas a and they're simao there's tons of apps and you know to play on credit. i met my current boyfriend of 3 and a half years on an but there's also the darker side of things and there's the could be in a room with someone and they're on their phone whole time and are you engaged are you connected now so what will how does technology bring us close and how does that separate us that there's a lot going on there and want to let people know where they can see a you'll catch flies tonight show is sold out, but the play runs through february 23th. >>we have a lot more details for you on show times
