From the fire. You can see this is vine crest circle in windsor and you can see the black in the area the scorchers there as car heads down the road taking a look and where the. Of destruction was cut, but look theres a home standing so while it scorchers in many instances they have been able to save property change which has been fantastic and thats thanks in large part to people. Observing the evacuation orders and getting out which allows again fire and police to get their equipment in their personnel and and hold those lines and hopefully save more and more homes as thi fire continues progress but heres the situation as it stands with relation to the fire and the evacuations. Evacuation areas have actually grown what has stayed the same is the mandatory should say the evacuation warning that exists from one oh one out to the coast, the degas bay. Jenner those folks are still in just an evacuation warning the mandatory evacuation zone continues to be right there along one o one stretching out to the county line there that butts up against napa and lake county and this is the burn area that exists inside and the more recent fires are these dots in darker red the more of the older fires are lighter in color and you can see the current bird, the new bern has really been on the eastern flank encroaching into or at least near napa county and lake county in fact, heres the a mandatory evacuation area for napa county yesterday this was just an advisory, but its been upgraded so have your things ready to go get the car packed things may turn on you for the worse without too much notice and then to the north of that we have lake county yesterday. It was just this is own that was impacted by this. Evacuation warning which includes the town of middletown but to the north now we also have these other zones that have been activated as well both of them with the warning cobb for instance which saw a wild fires in the past year now also an evacuation warning, which means again get your stuff packed get ready to go as this fire continues to burn right now most the majority activities you can see here on the map hes in the area of lake county heading towards middletown, which is why that community and everybody else in that zone now are on alert. All right, lets go live now to. Middletown as you mentioned it is under an evacuation warning this morning in kron fours will tran is there live with a look at whats going on high will. Heres the reason why they have that warning very a look over my right shoulder. We want to show you whats going on right now along the ridge in you can see the flames have gotten bigger over the last 30 minutes or so it is burning out of control at this point im sure there are a cal fire firefighters up there just to make sure that theyre ready to pay house on it but theyre not really doing heavy lifting until the sun comes up because thats when they will do the airdrops me show you video from yesterday. This is the kincade fire which is now spread to lake county and that is why people in middletown theyve been told get ready to evacuate. We showed you this fire live throughout the kron 4 morning news yesterday. It moved along the ridge fortunately it looks like james and darya its staying on the ridge and not moving closer to the town of middletown. Its not windy at this time it is very cold, but the lack of winds will help to firefighters use this window of opportunity to try to at least knock down most of the flames today because it is obviously a huge concern. Its such a dry area hard area to reach as far as the cal fire vehicles fortunately were not hearing of any injuries to the cal Fire Fighters up on the front lines. But we do expect the air drops to happen once again a little bit later this morning and we will get an update from cal fire in about 2 hours from now hopefully the containment numbers, well go up but as far as area. The good news james and ari oh we were so concerned about the windy conditions. Its slightly breezy at times but not windy so it looks like for now that fire is staying along the ridge and im sure there are homes up there. But obviously it most of the town. Most of the homes are based in the downtown proper area. Back to you all right, thanks a lot. Thats the case kind of everywhere. Weve seen is that the downtown areas have been ok. Even lee heels burglary in winds are just going go right the but you know you still got to get out so that means a lot of people who live in those towns even though their homes were not affected by the fire, theyre still affected this morning. They cant go back family and friends is where theyre staying or the evacuation shelters and so weve been keeping tabs. On the situation out there us christine that hate rose been standing by for us in Sonoma County with more on that front christina. So im over at the Sonoma County fairgrounds its one of the larger Evacuation Centers has been set up. Almost since the first day that this fire started now its very hub for a lot of different resources here first and foremost first its an Evacuation Center. The American Red Cross hasnt higher a center set up basically in the middle of the Fairgrounds Holding hundreds upon hundreds of evacuees, they also are the Evacuation Center that one of the few that host large animals as well for any people who may have forces, you know theyre able to keep here as well, but actually you can probably see a few people moving behind me here at that of those are firefighters that are trickling. The Sonoma County fairgrounds and over to the cal fire side of this pretty because they were actually just sleeping there in the middle of changing their ships to go out and to continue to battle the blaze. So really this area taxes bowl. Keeping zone for our fire forces and anyone who are on the front lines as well as the evacuees that when it comes to evacuees is during had mentioned that number about 90,000 people without a home during this time. They need to be a way because it how dangerous this fire is but a lot of these people theyre very much use to evacuation orders because they lived through the tubbs fire. A lot of santa rosa resident of course they have their homes completely destroyed and actually spoke with one gentleman was up very early this morning in the front of the fair grounds he was kind of getting some fresh air out of the Evacuation Center. And he said when it comes to these you know evacuation situations. Hes hes not usually very worried but he understands the severity of the fire itself, lets take a listen to what he had to. Well theres a lot of people where they dont really want to be here. Dont think it you know he and i chatted a lot about. Things are really scare him when it comes evacuation orders there no surprise to him but he again understands. The destruction that fire can bring so he does understand he does need to be here and the word that he kept using throughout the interview is just chaotic and annoying and for residents, its been in santa rosa for over 30 years he says its just routine now understand something has to do. But he really hopes that he can leave some time here within the week to go back to us and the home for now reporting live here at the Sonoma County fairgrounds christina teatro crime nice think that says a lot can ikin annoying but not. You know heartbreaking or life threatening and that is what you know the worst is so could be worse. James good to be a but it is. Wearing on people thats for sure and the Power Outages were certainly one of those factors that people getting awfully tired of. The good news is the wind event last night was not as strong as pg e had feared which means they didnt have to implement their Public Safety power shutoff for his many areas and the list you see on your screen are the counties that did not have to have any additional power shut off so good news for folks in Alameda County Contra Costa County santa clara, san mateo and santa cruz counties. Another was a worry as youre going to bed last night that may be around 11 oclock midnight. You the power go out and you do have to wake up to a dark house, but youre waking up to the lights on this morning which is great news. Thats not the case for everybody and we have the pg e power outage map to help illustrate that again. The great news for east bay and south bay residents and financial residents that we have a lot more green on the map and this is the pg e power outage map. Yes, there are a few pockets here and there we still have some of that purple but at this point that appears to be just sort of leftover residual Power Outages from the last power outage that we saw over the weekend and as those lines are inspected, we should see power restored hopefully in short order but well have to wait and see its all dependent on pg es resources and if they can get the crews out there to inspect the lines different story for the north bay thats where we still see widespread Power Outages, mainly in the evacuation zones. Were also seeing it in portions of Marion County to and portions of like southern santa rosa where theyre not technically in the evacuation zone, but they still have Power Outages to deal with hopefully peach and you can start getting some of those areas turned back on but again the top line message from pg e is that most of the north bay still without power. In fact they say. Across the north section of california which includes the north bay and the eastern sierra foothills, theyre looking at about 500,000 so half a million customers still in the dark well keep tabs on this and keep you updated on home chain was he genie will start telling the good news though. A lot of money with the rebate ok and well talk more about this too coming up, but apparently governor Gavin Newsome got on the horn and started put pressure on pg so now youre gonna start seeing some rebates in your checks of about a 100 for residents 50 for businesses, yeah, its not for every fire not every out is right now its only for the october nights power outage. Hopefully this will also be implemented for some of the more recent ones too well have to wait and see better than nothing on kron and well give you the very latest if you dont have power watching on a streaming device or as james pointed out. Maybe you do have. More people do this morning. Also some good news. Air quality is lot better on here with john taking a look at the map and its almost great. Yeah. Nothing is what you zeroes ones its its good we are looking at a big improvement in air quality overnight. The one good thing about the winds. It is they do help to stir the air up get some of those pollutants out get some of the smoke out sea, the big impact they had. Now were not and the clear the whole week so right in the patterns will tells with patterns changing so well see High Pressure of pushing back into place and calmer winds is good news. But you also have the high which means sinking air so a lot of a poor air quality is going to settle over the bay in the days to come right as you can by the fire taken up by the fires right now those fires Still Producing smoke. So that smoke its going to go somewhere so there is still opportunity for hazy days ahead of us so today is a good day. Get out there breathing a sigh of relief knowing that hey look at all that green youre going to be breathing in some much better air quality than what you had been saying, but dont necessarily expected to stay that way we could see some 4 days ahead of us in the forecast. Clear skies at the Golden Gate Bridge, no fog. No cloud cover no haze just good clear skies out there all across the bay. Were still looking at windy conditions have been checking regularly all our weather reporting stations up in the north bay and were still seeing gusts anywhere from 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour. So it is still breezy up there. Highest of elevations on the mountain tops in the north bay, but areas like petaluma and santa rosa, nice and calm. That is good news and winds are only going to continue to come down through the rest of the morning. Setting us up for what will be a calm night tonight a calm day tomorrow for halloween. Healdsburg lit and santa rosa all com asked cloverdale still definitely breezy has also is Hidden Valley lake middletown you are fairly calm right now 8 Miles Per Hour for your wind speed. Calm winds for the east bay, at least for the most part antioch in pittsburgh youre on the breezy side but not near as windy as it was expected. Thats why wind advisories have already expired red flag warnings do still remain in effect as we have very low humidity which does mean fire danger is still certainly something that we are going to be looking at today. Fire danger becomes a lesson to though through the course of the day ahead of us as winds become lighter and humidity overall does see improvements in the days to come, 40s and 50s for your temperatures right across the core of the bay, although or north bay spots like novato Napa Petaluma on up to santa rosa are back down into the 30s this morning a lot of the same areas without power. So it is a frigid start for some of our neighbors that are without power this morning, 30s and 40s to start but 60s and 70s by the afternoon making for a another nice one to get outside today. The difference today though you can actually outside and breathe in that air. Unlike yesterday with the poor air quality robin its getting busy out there checking the always crowded 80 west bay bridge commute into san francisco. Stocking up here at the toll plaza already spilling back to west grand not to the maze or through the maze not yet, but its kind of get there give it a little more time you can beat the rush still a 12 minutes to make it into san francisco, were looking at some more numbers and they look good highway force move 6 80 at the limit, no problems on the nimitz and then even one oh one looks nights 26 minutes, san jose to menlo park area. Thank a lot rob and fight for it. Continue our Team Coverage of the fire today thats burning in Sonoma County. Firefighters did a great job holding the line but still 90,000 structures are threatened. As this fire does continue to burn well be back with more on that. On the relief youre going to get from pg customers are going to get a car. Well tell you who. You know when youre at ross and you find a deal on cookware that makes you say. Yes . Oh, no, just a bag. Train insane, or remain the same. Phew well never totally figure them out. But we do know what makes them happy. Meow mix. Forty years and still the only one cats ask for by name. The First Time Since this fire broke out things are kind of looking up now, heres a live shot of our camera at a saint helene a. And this shows you that the fire still burning, im not saying its anywhere near out you can see 50 containment. Thats important that number because thats what it yesterday. So they were able even though the winds did with flat last night to hold the line at 15 containment and the fire hardly girl couple of 100 acres or so so it still at around 76,000 acres. Few 100 more then it was and thats how grover nice thats not bad at all. And were also you know continuing to see the destruction as well as they take another look and this is another look at that so this is from the first night of the fire and thats when exploded with us our first look at the thermal imaging. Cameras that were recording it all from the cal fire aircraft overhead. And uh you can see course when that the first night broke out i mean it was just chilling through rugged terrain at that point. A lot of the resources in the firefighting apparatus had been put in place yes, so its kind of run wild yeah during those first overnight hours of course since then weve got a lot more resources on the ground with over 4500 personnel 27 helicopters. They got 558 engines 48 water ten ers i mean theyve really got theyve really got resource coming in from even out of state to right and thats now in place and thats why able to maintain the line last night which is great were full of good news today, you know what else the checks in the mail at p g name. Theyre going give customers a crew. One specific power shut off the one day, the first one where they kind of were so prepared their website crashed communications were terrible. Well the governor just made the announcement because the utility said that this is the First Time Ever and its unprecedented probably never happen again. But theyre going to give customers a credible a 100 bucks businesses 250 bucks because of the way they say that they could drop the ball, the first time they shut the power off. Utilities in the past that never credit. Customers for these disruptions we call for rebates. And abc e o just communicated with our staff that theyre going to support some credit so were being extremely aggressive in respectfully. We didnt wait still this moment. So. Its better than nothing right. But it does only apply to that october 9th blackouts that was my first reaction is always going to get a credit every time they shut out what youre smiling and im not because i lost power, you asked how that 800 bucks but think it all what about me why when youre thinking it like people who have been out since this past saturday. You
