area geyserville then it was spread on the heels bergen windsor, then they started evacuating santa rosa. 2 firefighters have been hurt. none of the public has been her nobody's were reported missing. at this point the 2 firefighters hurt. so what we're hoping that they're ok especially one that was actually had to be taken to hospital 94 structures, including many homes burned so far in this fire and that is why they say it is serious when they ordered evacuation got to get out see why the winds can change in any direction in in one case over the weekend we saw hurricane strength wind yeah with wind gusts to some of the peaks topping 7475 miles per hour which is the threshold for a category one hurricane. >>we have to make sure to to really point out the fact these are sustained winds like you have in hurricane these are just pick us that hit momentarily, but they are strong strong epough to topple trees and we've seen lots of that too and are it's it's really interesting to put into perspective on friday. we were talking about geyserville and 2000 people in mandatory evacuation orders and now that's going to almost 200 1000 many fold and many times more on this is the evacuation area now that's mandatory you can see it has grown considerably geyser which is right there now this entire area in purple all the way up to the coast and extending from about 5 miles north of geyserville all the way down to northern sections of santa rosa, so that includes all year communities like healdsburg in windsor and geyserville of course and now northern sections of santa rose and the western sections to in fact neighborhoods like coffee park like fountain grove which had all of that devastation from the fires 2 years ago the tubbs fire. those areas also included now in this mandatory evacuation area as it looks like we're starting to see some spot fires burning too close for comfort, let's zoom in let me show you where some of these spot fires are that's what these dots represent the active fire burning right now given color coded to kind of let you know how old some of these flames are the spot fires the lighter colors, those of the original fires that broke out last week. they're lighter in color, the darker, more red colors, those are the new flames. those are the ones that broke out over the weekend and over the last 24 hours driven by the winds which have shifted south to southwest and that's why we're seeing all the new fire burning in that direction burning in the direction a more populated communities along 1 one and that's why the evacuation order went out over the weekend for places like healdsburg and windsor and some portions of santa rosa telling people you are now in a mandatory evacuation zone because these flames are moving quick. and firefighters have a tough time staying ahead of him which is why we saw the containment number go from 10% down to 5% so this really is a serious situation we're hoping with the winds calming today that may be firefighters can get ahead. some of these new flames what to see. and we're seeing the new flames live this morning was calm for serious tension. she is on the. >>windsor as santa rosa live and they're looking at firefighters trying to hold the line what's going on right now and where you exactly sarah. >>there are so you're fieldstone far and santa rosa, where can see there's still some smoking some flames in this bar. but firefighters actually just left the scene because they need to go get more water, they said they ran out of water you can still see it's sparking in there. they did put a lot of water into this may have been fighting hot spots and flair up all night long so they have to constantly re fill up. and because it yesterday when i was in healdsburg you could see several fires all the way from geyserville all the way down to windsor now we're here in santa rosa like daria said that windsor. santa rosa line. and so it's just been crazy yesterday with those winds they've been trying to protect businesses and homes like this one you can see the. so that's good and that's what they're trying to do is save homes and businesses. we even saw the some people stay behind and which is definitely not recommended if they say evacuate and it's mandatory then you're definitely going to want to evacuate. what we saw neighbors out there with their hoses trying to help out trying to get the fire under control around their home i met a guy yesterday who was trying to protect his vineyard and he said that he. one to stay behind so he can make sure that his whole land and was protected that includes this retired firefighter that we caught up with take a listen. >>i'm helping windsor. and helping the people of windsor and the surrounding area here. fire fire. so we're here to help you do the best we can and i could probably speak for every firefighter here. all over the state were coming here to help you were here were proud to be here hope we can now lend a helping hand. >>so yeah was a fire fire talking, but look at these a lot of flames here with the smoke you can see. fire crews will be back here to help put without and continue to make sure that it doesn't grow because this is fieldstone farm and they want to make sure because there still several other barnes and areas where they keep their wild of the livestock, but luckily, all of them are gone, nobody's here. so they did the right thing by evacuating is very chilly out today very low winds and that's going to help firefighting effort as we continue to try and get the kincade fire. under control ferrell's in the back to show as wondering and i see with the mask on every day she's been so close to the fire lines. >>a smoke where you are as far as the bay area. when you come home and get very little sleep and go back up on the far left do live in marin county. live in san francisco side looking at. power. >>and the air quality has been ok. >>ok it was we're we're definitely going to get more of that bad air drifting our way life you're not affected by it you will be thanks a lot sarah. that's part of the problem is and we're seeing the winds die down which is good for the fire fight but that the office and looks like the winds may be shifting smoke that blew out to sea. >>looks like it could start making a u turn come back over san francisco. throughout the day today summations say up to colliding here so bad air quality. the evacuees are trying to move they're moving areas in and they have no power because power has been cut by pg need to 2 million people in total. and then another half a million of put on notice we get our power back for example today michael off again tomorrow it's going to be nightmare think for the rest of the week ahead to get more perspective on that what's happening right now on the ground sonoma county as crews are battling the kincade fire we're joined on the phone this morning by sergeant. >>spencer crum from the sonoma county sheriff's office and it's great when you guys make time to let the public know what the latest situation is thank you for joining us this morning. and what can you tell us what is the situation. >>hi good morning. it's a little bit early spate now we're going to a briefing about 7 o'clock in the morning with cal fire. we have pretty quiet night we did have one run. late last night about midnight a the fire took off a little bit between 5. >>and locked word. about a 100 yards of homes also a. but in this silo area and a fire fire drill of. >>down and uh some traffic issues during that time that we uh we we was all that others tonight a early morning hours blood and quiet and a at the firefighters do their thing today and will figure out what we're going to today. >>problem with people now wanting to evacuate because they don't see that the fire is a risk to their particular neighborhood, especially for example when we made it all the way over to santa rosa. a lot of people think oh well there's not a fire is near my neighborhood i barely smell smoke. >>you know we've got a really high compliance rate we think it's about 95% of the people we knock on their door and we you know mandatory evacuation area you need to go. most of the name of the 2017 fires, leno, they know what to expect and it is dangerous in the end they do heed our warnings in 8 back of the car to get going. the 2 you to do. we're not doing that not a it hasn't really hamper efforts but it is a disturbing when they do that. >>i have to say i mean despite the fact that you still have a few people holding out the looking defend their own properties that the fact that we have no reports of any injuries or missing persons or fatalities. compared to 2 years ago has to speak volumes in terms of your guys s ability to be able to get the word out and people as you said complying and getting out making way for firefighters and police to be able to do their work. >>yeah, you know we had about 24 hours to a of evacuation notice ou work warning system lot better and we're able to go door door to the high low sirens and we just really. as a community we've done so much better and getting people out of harm's way that's our biggest goal right now is to get through this no deaths at all. >>and just to confirm that is still the case correct nobody missing, nobody hurt. no fatalities. >>i think what's complicating it is that you've got hundreds of thousands of people now couple 100,000 that are out of their homes. and you're you don't know when they're going to be let back in. going to wear for example, i know marine county can only handle like maybe 300 people at their mercy shelter, but they're thinking you know, 10's of thousands are headed that way so whet are you going to do as these days wear on and people are having maybe trouble finding. housing. >>i'm hoping this going to be long term i know be the topic conversation in today's repopulation especially areas that are affected by fire. and i would expect that before too long will be certainly didn't play a press releases and forth about repopulation but has made yet decision-maker that talk about it, i know there's another wind event coming up on wednesday. we'll keep everybody informed as best we can and we're asking for public's patience. and we're just keep my world in this for public safety. >>of course you think you have idea yet at least given that the winds are dying down today which areas might be first to be allowed to go back. >>haven't been talked about and i said that conversation today. but and i'm sure that they will the letting people in first for the fire has not been you know in their area it has admitted a cassette. >>and before we let you go a lot of the folks who have evacuated of course because the mandatory evacuation orders places like windsor healdsburg shiloh as you mention they're wondering about their communities back home. your officers have been patrolling the area had if you had any reports of any sort of break ins or looting or of businesses what's the situation right now for for the for the folks that want to know. >>we've had no reports of looting no reports of americans we did make an arrest yesterday for a person whose water out of the back you wish who had no business being there. so we've had we have about 200 off shares on patrol the to teach the and 140 different agencies throughout california helping us out. you get gold walk around without running into returning to cop in a patrol car somewhere. so it's it's really just graduated law enforcement presence. >>where you live here you and your family been evacuated are our cted by a at least smoke power outages. >>i'm lucky enough to be the one area the county that started back your time in the south county in petaluma and and i and hosting about 4, 5, families in my house right now do little wonder. >>i was going to say i saw up north in a you know just very northern part of marion county. highways were crushed over the week when people try to get out, i'm just wondering where are they all going. >>people go to friends and families are going to shelters, you know they're gone into valley where they go to just give us a place stay is he the further way go better it is make a power right the for much county without power. were doing was living life an ice chest and generators and things like that work we're going end. >>i use my family stay with you. >>yeah, i love my family think my house right now. a lot of thank you so much for joining us this morning and perhaps maple have an opportunity again later in the chat with announcer: 5 million kids use e-cigarettes. it's an epidemic fueled by juul with their kid-friendly flavors. san francisco voters stopped the sale of flavored e-cigarettes. but then juul, backed by big tobacco, wrote prop c to weaken e-cigarette protections. the san francisco chronicle reports prop c is an audacious overreach, threatening to overturn the ban on flavored products approved by voters. prop c means more kids vaping. that's a dangerous idea. vote no on juul. no on big tobacco. no on prop c. the time the breaking news this morning. yes, the can kate fire that's burning and you're looking at some of the live web camera. >>footage showing us every few seconds it will update. but the pictures are always the same the hills up in flames this morning as this fire now has grown to more than 54,000 acres in size the battle continues to fight it. but at this point appears to be a losing battle as the fire grows and the containment. >>shrinks things have gotten worse basically is what we're saying because it's doubled in size and the containment is half of what it was now because of this it keeps spreading with the high winds and they're the details for you. thank shuns were ordered over the weekend that's why you can see that now a 180,000 plus people have been told to evacuate still. >>staggers the imagination to think on friday we were talking about 2000 people ties or feel right back it now it's nearly 200,000 wer out over the weekend, you know that they were on the movies. i saw car's pass little of nero sedans are packed with 5 adults and they were is heading. basically like that the sergeant just said south and south is out francis going kept going my family friends where they are because shelters can handle this number of people and the number of structures destroyed has gone up as well nearly doubling to 94 structures. many of those are homes. we don't even have a count yet on how many homes have been destroyed. but we've seen many go off and play as a mutual aid has been incredible we have more than 3,000 almost 3,500 firefighters on the line right now kron four's will tran has been giving us a great perspective. >>from the ground he's in heels for joining us once again with a a look at that firefighting effort this morning. well. >>james jury i can attest to the mutual aid because you just heard the surgeon say right before the commercial break. you cannot drive a block without running into some sort of check point let me step out of the way and show you the lay of the land look at this this intersection now and i moved if you saw me at 5.30 i was a different location, but i move moved around here just to let you know what's going on look at this guy's the california national guard. they are on the scene they are helping with the checkpoint is well they're out there, stopping people who don't have authorization that come through here for some reason i do see some civilians coming through this area does not mean that they're not civilian workers helping out with the cause with the firefighters and the authorities and the police officers but i see people in normal civilian gear, not media not fire personnel going through here, but everyone gets to talk to including me because they want to make sure only people who are allowed to be here be here as far as this scene here goes during the commercial break on the other side of this yellow light here. i saw fire truck stop by james darya this is something that i realize they're fighting this fire all all over the place and because it's not like downtown. san ancisco where you see a fire hydrant at every corner they had to drive out here load up again with thousands of gallons of water and then drive i've back up to whatever remote location that they're dealing with the fire as far as the fire, you guys talked about this. let's show you some video. >>84 square. >>miles of wine country places north of san francisco went up. in flames over the weekend by saturday's he's me by sunday morning it jumped thousands of acres and you talked about the fire personnel more firefighters could be on the scene. some time today as they know this is not just about all this is a war that will go on for days if not weeks. >>since 1869 they try to say the soda. and everybody could not be saved so that was destroyed as well. >>they are keeping a close eye on not just the winery they care about all buildings. >>we do know that at least 94 buildings have either been destroyed or damage because of this fire and the governor says he is looking for more help. >>we have been blessed i want to once again thank the trump administration and fema for their quick response and support with what we refer to as f magdy federal declaration that allows reimbursements and a often it's that we can scale are efforts. underway. resources are secondary to the immediate needs of our communities. thank fema for all their extraordinary work. >>there are fires burning all all up and down our state the kincade fire seems to be if not the top priority among the very highest. my priorities, according to authorities which is why they're able to access the firefighters and the national guard to come to the scene. this morning. it is cold but it is not windy. so that's the case of good news, bad news and james terry i talked about how there seems to be civilians here that looks like a normal. pickup truck coming and going again it doesn't mean that they're not working with the authorities but right now this whole area and i'm in the windsor, he'll the berg area you can see the traffic lights are out. and right now it is being manned by the authorities including the california national guard. back to because will you answer we've seen you guys in areas that nobody is allowed into english or media or firefighters. >>that also means it's very smoky in those areas. sarah was taking bath mask off and when you're on 24 7. you can't do that right you can't let that and air even get in your mask, you keep it all all morning. >>i definitely try to keep it on t ere are times that might be a little bit better than others and let's face it not we don't walk around with it all the time and it is not the most comfortable situation i have so much condensation on 9 overs in my upper lip and then you take it off a little bit maybe drive why down and then you put it back on as well south. it is definitely hard to breeze and without the wind which is good news for the firefighters, it doesn't kerry the embers all over the place but without the winds. and once the sun comes up i will show you i can clearly see embers from my vantage point without the winds. the sector is sitting on top of you it almost feels like you're lying down and like a little baby is sitting on your chest when breed. yeah, takes a little bit of work. good description people have asked house you have power at your house. >>yes, i do have power. >>everything is ok, but couple of streets over. they didn't have power so i'm going to continue robbing my rabbit's feet reavie whatever it takes to keeping our heads saying >>i know i was thinking when i woke up this morning. what do we do hong like. >>no power. >>fires broke as couple they're very small but little temblors get 2 point something out of sri. it's last thing we wheoe the fire broke out yeah i get it has what we'll see in about just you know couple blocks away that situation, my neighborhood my street without power, you go down, you know 50 feet to the next street over they've got power. so just how are pge draws the i am we got another morning, john that power could go off even if we get back today then tomorrow or the next day because high winds. >>that's exactly right guys 3rd time in row that we've seen 3 wind events in a week. oh we all need at least one bit of good news that this is that bit of good news is that a wind advisories have officially expired a little bit earlier than the national weather service had been issued to winds have fallen now officially below that wind advisory criteria so there's one bit of good news, but as tardy and james, just mentioned we still do have wind ahead of us in the forecast. you see even though today is looking increasingly calm we're only going to continue to come into the evening tonight tomorrow winds will pick back up for the 3rd time in just a week this is going to result in winds gusting well into the 30 to 40 miles per hour range regularly for the same spots in the north bay as we have been saying. pete gust this time around though compared to the 70 mile per hour gusts over the weekend should only be topping out in a 50 mile per hour range. so not as windy but enough to see the return of some power outages likely to be seeing the return of red flag warnings to left are the ones that we're currently seeing do expire at 11:00am this morning. as far as temperatures go today. here's your second bit of good news. we're only looking at highs in the 60's and 70's for so many of us that have lost power the worst thing you need is 80's and 90's for your highs so at least it is a comfort that as we make our way into the afternoon it isn't going to be oppressively hot 70's is definitely something we can handle as far as temperatures go. and i would recommend you stay inside this afternoon because air quality is going to be coming be be becoming worse and worse through the day as winds calm down about of that wildfire smoke is just going to settle right here in the bay area a lot of areas already waking up to some hazy conditions hayes is only going to become more and more widespread this afternoon 70's will remain in your forecast from start to finish. that's not going to change. winds will calm down though wednesday night more your forecast of course more. you know when you're at ross and you realize you are the the hostess with they're fighting a losing battle now 10% on friday now 5% containment and more than 54,000 acres burned let's hope they can make some progress today as the winds are expected to die down but then you know it's a it's a finite window of opportunity because come tuesday night and wednesday, they're expected to pick up once again not strong. >>but any kind of wind when the fires are raging like this are that was a live camera right this is the most recent video that we have from sonoma county and you can see. >>this fire continue to burn and the wind. fire crews, they've got a good 3,000 firefighters on the ground there working and during the day. >>they do air drops from above but more and more people are being evacuated you first it was geyserville then they healdsburg then they to windsor to get out. santa rosa has to evacuate a 180,000 people affected by evacuation orders, 94 structures have burned and in many homes have been destroyed as well. yeah that smoke as you can see just blanketing over a good bit of the north bay. >>and then also we have those fires that broke out in the east bay too and that added to the poor air quality and of course evacuations in the north have grown quite a bit as the mandatory evacuation area has grown as well take a look this is what that map illustrates the area in purple is the mandatory evacuation zone and just put it in context when we last spoke on friday, it was just this little section up here that was part of the mandatory evacuation zone now courses spread all the way to the coast and all the way down one a one and 2 you get to northern and western sections of santa rosa and everybody inside this area has been told to leave and with the course issues of the fire burning to the north most people have elected to head south on one oh one and fanned out to the east bay and down to the san francisco and the peninsula which is of course what the resulted in a lot of congestion over the weekend for san francisco, let's zoom in i want to show you more about the fires that are burning right now and the map is involved a each one of these red dots represents where a fire has broken out and the color coded now to the blood of snow how it's evolved over time the lighter colors, those are the older fires the ones that broke out when the fire first originated late last week. the newer fires, those are the ones in deeper red, and you can see it really is the southern and southwest flank where this fire has continued to grow over the weekend driven by those strong winds driven these fires closer and closer to communities right along one o one. and that's why we had places like geyserville yes, but now healdsburg in windsor heading down into santa rosa where folks have been told you need to get out. we've had embers falling and spot fires erupting really close to town in healdsburg and in windsor and now in certain areas like fountain grove and coffee park in santa rosa, those same areas that were decimated by the fires 2 years ago so that's of course a big worry for those folks as these fires continue to grow in their direction. we're going to keep watching it are you. all right, let's continue our coverage than james and. >>head to where the fire has affected people the most and that's kron 4 sarah stinson whose in windsor this morning. >>i can't believe how close you keep getting these flames there, i know that you're usually a company though at other firefighters on the scene right there. up to a destination where feeling has been completely devastated because and there's 5. >>on both sides of the road on shiloh ridge in santa rosa now as where we're. here at this address of 5, 7, 7, 3, shiloh ridge, this is what's left this was the garage, we're walking down a driveway and that was the garage as you can see it is completely crew. bold almost looks as taough there was an earthquake the way that the cement just broken hand and then crumble down and you can see it's just a total. others just what they've been doing what i've seen once they feel like they've got it mostly under control that have to move on to the next one. again this is the driveway and just crazy to see those just. and if you keep walking over here. that's where the home is a just really sad to see. scared for the sun to come because i have a feeling that there's not going to be just this house that is completely looks as though since there's fire both sides the road time the hot spots everywhere that there could be more homes as we know 80 1000 structures were threatened. and firefighters spent the entire night trying to put this fire out. but as you can see. they can't stop every for. they're from encroachrng on every home. it's just so sad to see just everything was destroyed. this is the front of the home with the steps. and now just nothing bush and debris. again this address is 5, 7, 7, 3 shiloh ridge, this is a gated neighborhood it is a really nice seems to be very nice neighborhood. it's very dark outside so. once the sun comes up we'll be able to see just how many homes are damaged or know a lot of people are that evacuation centers. they're staying with friends. and the trend is my home, ok and it's just so sad to be up here and have to break the news that this is someone's home and it's a total loss so we're going to continue to stay up here. show you what we're seeing with their boots on the ground get the latest from the fire line for nelson to back to well and we're actually pulling up on google maps and looking that is a big compound, it looks like a large home with a pool behind it where you are. >>lot of the homes in that area are similar and they're not close together sarah, so looks like if you want. >>drive down the road. you have to go maybe about a mile or so before you hit. each one is sort of in their own cul de sac so if it's pop maybe you can go check on the neighbors by driving down the main road and then heading into each cul de sac to see if any other homes were burned in that area. but again is at windsor santa rosa cause, i know you're on the line. >>kept driving into the neighborhood and and turns out were in santa rosa rodriguez son was unaware how close those are so we're in santa rosa. we were there make a check on the homes around here show me where that biggest plane was to which you are a little too close to i think that. >>are yeah, and you feel ok because is it not that windy at at this moment. wind has really died down told because i was here yesterday. it was just too. fick yesterday just because even walking or driving around and are concerned about branches falling. this is much calmer so firefighters really at this point are going to be focusing on. on these flames because as we know this is when is not going to stop for. and will have said the same thing is happening both actually within the half hour. you're live somewhere with firefighters. forced to get more water. thankfully because this is devastation we're looking at. thankfully ever. >>well and just to confirm because again you're of those mandatory evacuation areas, you said you're on shiloh ridge road correct those 5773 shiloh ridge road. that fa ily who may be watching this morning. it does it looks as though your property bill a total loss and look fairly level there looks like a lot of the come to homes in that area maybe facing similar fates will have to wait see is our camera can move around and take a closer look that you mentioned the water 10 are running out of water, i know they've got about 28 water tenders there and that's the difficulty that with some of these homes that are really nestle higher up in the hills is that often don't have water service going up to so they have to shovel all that water in douse the flames much they can go refill the truck and bring it back so that's that's a process a move sexing happen now where will tran is let's go live to him now in healdsburg well where are you exactly right now. >>well right now they're getting help from the california national guard i saw them coming in about 35 minutes step out just to show you this location, so you have the chp and just law enforcement from all over the bay area in fact i saw from as far away as coal mine that city doesn't spare. a lot of officers but add every person man and woman. police officer is definitely needed because this place is so vast they need help trying to lock it down you can see cars coming and going from this location, looks like they're authorized personnel. the intersection lights are out the california national guard is right here and they rolled in at about 5.45. just to make sure that only authorized personnel go beyond this particular location as the fire continues. an out of control. it went up. and then it went down as far as the containment number 5% contained we should get an update from cal fire in about 30 minutes from now. as far as the acreage and the containment percentage to the good news is they hope to have this a window of opportunity to get some work done, i can't even say a lot because this is going to be a long battle but they will use the dying winds to try to make some inroads on this particular fire which has not spared. holmes wineries buildings, it doesn't matter of course fires don't discriminate including the soda rock winery that went up in flames over weekend and it was around since 1869. governor newsome he wants more people to a row live to the scene right now 3400 firefighters on this and possibly more sometime this morning and a even this afternoon as well all hands on deck as they have their hands full right now it looks like a ghost town i can tell you though that the authorities they are being patient you can talk to them. but there's a checoint james darya probably every block maybe every 2 bloc or so, and that's why they need all the additional help they can possibly get including from the national guard. james story, all right, thanks a lot, we'll and make sure to download the kron on app. >>we are streaming live on that absolutely time as a newscast you can see it whether or not you have power you that cellular device something mobile that you can take with you and then recharge so we're on there were on the air of course if you're lucky enough to have power you're watching us on your tv. so we'll be back with there are those who will say that you're: too fat. too skinny. too hard. too soft. too old. too much. too unexpected. too limited. and to them we say too bad. because at kaiser permanente, we believe that everyone deserves the right to thrive. >>all right we're back time now 6.45 and we are looking right now at some of the latest video and here are some of the latest facts and figures related to the kincade fire. that's burning right now sonoma county it has exploded in size over the weekend now more than 54,000 acres. total have burned and it is still growing containment has actually gone down because this fire grew so fast. the 10% containment number from friday has actually dropped to 5% this morning as more than 3,000 firefighters continue to try and get the upper hand but look at the number of people have been told to evacuate as a mandatory evacuation zone has increased on seems like exponentially we now have nearly 200,000 people 180,000 to be specific. they have been forced out of their homes this morning under mandatory evacuation orders with 94 structures destroyed. and it looks as though this may get worse before it gets better as we're looking at winds picking up at some point later this week seems like everybody in the bay areas being affected in one way or another. >>either by air power outages and maybe you're seeing traffic online highways are helping people are evacuating or the air quality is bad and not just around the fire in the north and sonoma county but also because of the fires that broke out you see in the east bay, so let's take a look at some of the worst but this is a live interactive map right showing showing how bad the air quality is the worst up there by sonoma county as you would expect right around the kincade fire that's where we're seeing the worst of the air quality but you're also seeing a some of the residual smoke from yesterday's fires in lafayette. >>a man in areas like the lay whoa that is still impacting air quality has a lot of that smoke really just settled on into the core of the bay area there the east bay you can see even san francisco seen a bit of it and then right around hercules on up through of valais whoa definitely smoky. don't this is right now the were the worst thing is going to be when when we get air settling later today. >>so i'm wondering if some of the areas that see green or light orange which is not that bad or even maybe in the san francisco area could get worse today. yeah i anticipate what's going to happen is a lot of areas right along the bay and then right along the coast are actually going to see air quality getting really bad because as this air settles down and winds get calmer. some of that smoke that actually worked its way into the ocean yesterday is just going to settle right back into the bay. it's preview of the ocean back in to us might actually be our inland valleys that see the air quality better than our coastal areas today because all that smoke worked its way this direction and now it's just going to settle back in and really just sit across the day today so the air quality gets worse today and then is it tonight or tomorrow the winds pick up tomorrow night so yeah today air quality is going to be the issue. the winds coming down that is a great thing in most aspects of course the negative part of it is now the smokes going to stay with today is your day to stay indoors as much as possible avoid too much exposure to that for air and then as daria mention after today's calm winds that we are seeing across the bay area. we actually do have another wind events in the bay area so today take advantage of at least the calm winds, i know fire crews will be around the kinkaid fire. looking ahead of us fire weather warnings will expire at 11:00am today. we already saw those wind advisories expire. ahead of those winds that are coming down so tonight we're going to stay nice and calm. tomorrow we're going to start calm but tomorrow afternoon going to start to see wind speeds picking up this is at 09:00am you're starting to see a a few breezy areas, but they really pick up into the afternoon leading into tuesday night and wednesday this is when winds will break it will gusting to a range of 30 to 40 miles per hour. your peak, wind gusts will be around 50 miles per hour tuesday night into wednesday, this is definitely significant enough for blazes like the kincade fire to spread again as these winds a blow to the southwest much as we saw this weekend but compared to this weekend's winds which as remember gust as high as 70 to 80 miles per hour. it's not going to be at a significant a wind event and it's going to be shorter too. so at least we do have those 2 aspects it's around 24 hours of a wind event compared to this weekend's which lasted multiple days. daytime highs today will be cooler. this is also some good news for those of us without power, which is many of us across the bay today we're not going to be seeing 80's and 90's and now would have been way too hot for every one of us that doesn't have our into the afternoon. least as we make our way into the afternoon it's only going to be 70's that we're feeling and low 70's out that but definitely keep inside today as much as possible may be a calmer one may feel comfortable outside. but as you're stepping outside you're going air quality as you are getting out there really for most areas of the bay. that's a look at your forecast also did over to robin. let's take a look at the commute. expecting in. >>a 92 pretty crowded here we're checking the drive out of hayward making its way over to the boy is it packed, you know it starts right around the toll plaza that continues on the flat section here we're looking at about 27 minutes, so it's definitely growing making your way from hayward over to one o one be prepared for that long stretch of heavy traffic. we're checking the bay bridge commute, 80 west coming in cash lanes fast track lanes stacked up. there was also a crash in the didn't look like it was a major accident. but we've had injuries reported really hard to spot a crash in here but it was 80 west. before the toll plaza traffic is already slow from the bottom of so you have a lot of company heading into san francisco this morning, richmond sandra fell not bad at all no delays here at the tolls 8 minutes to make that trip into the north bay and we are hot spot free now you notice some of your other freeways and drive times are on the rise right we have highway 4.26 minutes, antioch to concord one oh one up to 42 minutes, san jose to menlo park and almost 30 minutes to make it south on 6.80 for pacheco out to danville daria thanks a lot robin 6.50. >>and you know lebron james was doing early this morning running from flames. having trouble in southern california too and he and his family were driving around it. around 4 o'clock in the morning looking for a place to stay they were driven from their homes. near getty center in los angeles that's the fire that broke out about. >>2 30 this morning. so this is a new fire in southern california just north of sunset boulevard and west of the 4 all 5 freeway it's burning in a westward direction. so far this one has burned 250 acres and at least 2 structures have burned down. it's threatening more than 3,000 homes. so another whole firefight in southern california on a new one to add to this morning now so all across the state people dealing with fires and power loss in fact, let's. >>bring the attention back to the bay area where we're looking at pg e's map now this is the public safety power shutoff map. each one of these icons in purple represents an area where power has been shut off completely for residents in an effort to try prevent the spread of wildfires were currently seaborn north bay peninsula south the east bay they're all. affected by this. let's zoom in on the east bay and again we're looking at conditions lightning up today in terms of the winds which could mean we'll have some of these communities now get power back as early as this afternoon but not everybody and that's going to be the concern going forward because we have that second wind event this week set for tuesday night into wednesday, so p g says where they can they'll turn the power back on today with the cabbie out that they might have to turn it back off again tuesday night for some though it just wouldn't make sense for them to turn th power back on as they can't get to the lines quick enough before the next power. shut off of it so you could be without power. for the entirety of this week or at least until wednesday into thursday until they can get the lines are e energize so it's going to be one of the situations where have to pay close attention not only to pg e's map but keep it to kron 4 because keep you updated on when we start hearing word of the power roll on start to happen again and when it could be shut off once more tuesday night into wednesday and always make sure you have the kron on app nearby where you lose power or not it's a great way to stay updated on our 24 hour streaming. newsfeed again that's kron on go to the app store download it now we've removed the pay wall she can access this. >>for free. this is our service to to be looking out there this morning we did see wind advisories expiring because we've seen wind speeds crop falling below the threshold warrant them a fire weather warnings of the nice weather wise known as red flag warnings will expire as we make our way towards 11:00am it's going to be a lot calmer of a day ahead of us also a much cooler day than what we have been experiencing daytime highs only in the 70's this is particularly good news. as so many parts of the bay area are without power. at least we're not seeing 80's or 90's for those of you that are without power today. tomorrow winds pick back up windy conditions to be seen starting a really tomorrow afternoon lasting through tuesday night into wednesday. after that does look to calm down again gradually through wednesday, setting us up for a much calmer halloween just around the corner, good news for trick or treaters least friday saturday and sunday gradually getting warmer we're staying dry all the way through this forecast. james. john we'll take a quick break still ahead on the kron 4 morning news. we have new numbers on the kincade fire an update has just come in to the kron 4 news room from cal fire. >>it homes are completely gone, 40 homes burned to the ground. there are additional 10 and the homes that have been damaged and if you look at just the damage and destroyed numbers on structures it's well overall 100 a 112. we understand 2 firefighters were hurt one of them hospitalized. this is new video from sonoma county sheriff's deputy driving through the fire. highway one 28 last night you can see that is why one 28 was close you can see the fire burning here actively, not safe to be in and that's why they updated the evacuation order and increase to 200,000 people who had to get out of
