( james ) new this morning... police are looking for a driver in deadly hit and run. the man was hit westbound on state highway 12 and rincon road in santa rosa. the crash closed down the westbound lanes of state highway 12 for several hours. the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. investigators now looking for the driver of a blue 2006 mitsubishi raider pickup truck. ( darya ) in the east bay ... three homes are destroyed in a fire that broke out in the small community of bethel island. take a look at the fire consuming a home on the 27-hundred block of taylor road. the fire broke out just before 6 o'clock last night. the fire ended up destroying 3 homes before contained around 8 o'clock. fire fighters believe propane tanks may be involved in the fires. residents are upset ... because there is no fire department on the island. have been moved off the island. especially when they closed the fire department.they could have access to it. we don't have fire hydrants on this island. only down the main street. >( darya ) no one was injured ... but at least two people have been displaced from ( darya ) happening now ... police are looking for a man who stabbed a victim during an attempted robbery in san rafael. the stabbing happened tuesday night in the 400 block of bahia way. the victim told police the attacker tried to steal a piece of his jewelry before he was stabbed multiple times. the attacker and another man who was with him ran away. the victim was treated at a local hospital. (á2 shotá)( james ) if you used bart in downtown san francisco any time recently --- you've probably run across escalators out of service or being repaired.( darya ) bart is now working to fix them thanks to a new hundred million dollar contract approved by the bart board of directors. the current escalators at the embarcadero, montgomery. powell and civic center stations are all made by different companies... that are no longer in business. meaning the parts they need to fix them are no longer available. bart says there are 41 escalators across downtown san francisco that will be replaced by one company... making getting new parts easier in the future. and bart says the one hundred million dollar price tag is actually under budget. (james) the fallout from the college admissions cheating scandal is growing... two separate lawsuits have been filed now. lawyers are seeking 500-billion dollars in damages. kron 4's dan kerman has the latest. the class action lawsuit filed wednesday in san francisco superior court is filed by a bay area woman and her son against 45 parents, coaches, administrars and admissions consultants.in the lawsuit jennifer kay toy says her son "graduated with a 4.2 grade point average.... applied to some of the colleges where the cheating took place and did not get in.... i'm now outraged and hurt because i feel that my son... was denied access to a college not because he failed to work and study hard enough but because wealthy individuals felt that it was ok to lie, cheat, steal and bribe their children's way into a good college." the lawsuit alleges negligent infliction of emotional distress, civil conspiracy and fraud. the lawsuit suggests 1- thousand people participated in the cheating scandal and than 1-million people people have been affected. as a result the suits seeks damages totaling no less than 500- billion dollars.in the meantime, a federal class action lawsuit filed wednesday and amended thursday is filed on behalf of a 4 college students and their parents against admissions consultant rick singer and 8 universities including stanford that federal officials have tied to the bribery scandal. this suit alleges when these students applied for admission to these universities they didn't receive what they paid for an "admissions process that was fair and free of fraud bribery, cheating and dishonesty." the lawsuit says anyone who paid an application fee to any of the universities but was denied admission get their application fee returned.
