( robin ) this morning we're hearing from the son of the woman who was buried in the mudslide that destroyed her home in sausalito. sausalito boulevard slipped down a steep hillside thursday morning and slammed into another home in its path. the other home did not have anyone inside. 50 homes in the neighborhood were evacauted. the mayor of sausalito admits it could have been worse. < it is absouletly amazing we are not talking about loss of life at this time.>( robin ) gordon lost everything in the mudslide including her cat. a gofundme page has been set up to help her out. now the work must begin to clean up the mess in the neighborhood. ( robin ) don't forget - you can track the storm and the weather in your neighborhood with the kron-4 mobile app. there you will find full forecasts... and an interactive radar. you can also get push alerts on bay area storms. all with the kron-4 mobile app ( robin ) a big story this morning out of the south bay. a hostage is rescued and one man is dead after he was fatally shot by police following a standoff in san jose. this is video of the police chase that led to the standoff yesterday. an armed man and a woman hijacked a u-p-s truck ... taking the driver hostage. the chase stopped near 1st street and trimble after the truck ran over spike strips. during the standoff ... police negotiated and were able to save the hostage and take the woman into custody. but the man tried to run from police ... and was fatally shot. kron4 was at the scene and has reaction from people who know the man. ( robin ) before the man and woman carjacked the u-p-s truck. the two were being chased by sheriff's deputies for being in a stolen s-u-v. officials say they fired shots and hit a deputies car during the first chase. no officers were injured. san jose police will give an update on the incident at noon today. ( robin ) three men are alive after rollover crash that totaled the car they were in. here are pictures of the destroyed car. the crash happened in east palo alto last night ... just past the dumbarton rail line tracks near university avenue. first responders found ( robin ) officials are investigating an amtrak train that crashed into a car... which turned onto the tracks in emeryville. two people in the car where following g-p-s directions but police say likely due to bad weahter and low visibilty, accidentally turned onto the train ac. the two people inside the car were able to get out before the train hit the car. no injuries were reported. ( robin ) peninsula... five homestead high school students were arrested... in connection with a group assault .... on a 69-year-old man in cupertino. deputies got a call tuesday about a man in the hospital with injuries... which appeared to have been caused by a fight. when deputies interviewed the man, he said he saw a group of juveniles horsing around.... and told them to stop by the mcdonalds on stelling road. the man said... one of the boys approached his car and spit at his window. that's when it esclated into a fight. police have video of the fight and are holding it for now .. they used it to now .. they used it to identify the boys with the help of homestead high school officials .. they have now been arrested and booked into the santa clara county juvenile hall. ( robin ) bart' directors voted unanimously today .... to name a throughway next to the fruitvale station - "oscar grant iii way." grant, a 22- year old black man from hayward ... was fatally shot in the back by bart police at the fruitvale station on new year's day, 2009. the shooting ... captured on cellphone video by a bystander ... was one of the driving forces behind the 'black lives matter' movement. the former bart police officer who shot the unarmed grant was sentenced to two years in prison for involuntary manslaughter. ( robin ) for your health this morning.. the centers for disease control and prevention says this season's flu shot is only 47 percent effective at preventing the disease. over the past few seasons, the rate has n 19 and 48 percent. but it's not all bad news for the flu vaccine. even when it doesn't prevent infection... people who are vaccinated generally get less severe symptoms for shorter periods of time. and experts say the flu kills thousands of people in the u.s. each year. the c-d-c says there are still several weeks left in the current flu season.
