( darya ) in the east bay... an oakland police officer is recovering in the hospital this morning after he was shot while off-duty saturday in san leandro. the identity of the officers has not been released. o-p-d has also not released any details about the shooting at this time. the san leandro police department is conducting the investigation into the shooting. ( darya ) concord police need your help finding a person they believe is responsible for a shooting. witnesses tell police this man and woman are connected to a shooting yesterday at the sun valley mall. at four o'clock police were called to the mall when a man shot a gun.. the man then dropped the gun ne cinnabon. the man then left with the woman seen behind him. no one was injured. ( james ) five people are in the hospital after a pick-up truck crashed into a sizzler restaurant in hayward. police say a two vehicle crash sent the truck off of hesperian boulevard into the corner of the restaurant. the crash happened yesterday afternoon. the five people injured were inside the resaurant.. they had minor ot moderate injures. the sizzler is closed for now... as workers clean up the debris. the windows are also temporarily boarded up. the restaurant gave no timeline of when they think they will re-open. ( james ) in the north bay... petaluma police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after he reportedly drove his van into his ex-girlfriend. 24-year-old geradro hernandez led police on a short pursuit before he was arrested in the east washington place shopping center. police say they got a call around 3 saturday afternoon stating a van just struck two people in the smart train parking lot. the two people hit were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. hernandez was booked into the sonoma county jail. ( darya ) new video this morning... concord police have released surveillance video of a robbery at a joint gas station and car wash. the robbery happened on november 28th... the female robber wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and armed with a long kife can been heard demanding cash from the clerk. she repeatedly asks him to open the safe behind the counter. at one point she puts down the knife to stuff the money into her bag. she then fled the scene. ( darya ) in the east bay... police say a group of women is responsible for stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from marshalls department stores. a group of five females were caught last week after police received a call from the fremont marshalls about an in progress robbery. the women were arrested as they came out of the store with the merchandise. police say they women are connected to over 35-thousand dollars in thefts from various marshalls store over the last month. during the arrests, police say they found 292 items in the theives car. ( darya ) in sunnyvale, police are looking for the person who sexually assaulted a woman near a caltrain station. it happened around six thursday morning... a woman was walking in the area of willow and aster avenues just south of the lawrence caltrain station. that's when police say a man approached her from behind and began groping her. a person walking by stopped the assualt and the attacker ran off. the person police are looking for - is described as 5-feet-7 inches tall with a medium build and was wearing a maroon jacket. ( james ) on the peninsula... san francisco and rewood city police hosted gun buy back events over the weekend. the departments say the events are important so they can get dangerous guns off the street. san francisco police partnered with the non-profit organization "united playaz" to host the buy back event. in the first hour alone they collected over a hundred firearms. the departments were offering 1-hundred dollars cash for handguns and 2-hundred for assault weapons. ( james ) a janitor at farrallon view elementary school has been accused of committing lewd acts with a minor. following months of investigation, the sheriff's office says there is enough evidence to charge 54-year-old joel cortez altamirano with several crimes. the sheriff's office believes lewd acts occurred during school hours and after school. the sheriff's office says it is concerned that there could be additional victims. altamirano is being held at the san mateo county jail on one million dollars bail. ( darya ) an oakland mother and nurse-- who was deported back to mexico last year-- is waking up with her family in the bay area this morning... maria mendoza- sanchez was deported in 2017 because of the trump administration's immigration policies.. sanchez came to the us illegally in the mid 90s ... went to college and has worked at highland hospital up until she was deported alongside her husband. she was forced to leave her four children and job behind. just over a year later ... us immigration officials approved a waiver allowing her to receive an h-1-b visa to return to the united states legally .. and in time for christmas. brought them. the school district says there were no known reactions to the pot brownies... officials say they notified the parents of the students involved and an all-call to parents wasn't necessary. ( james ) all the evacuation orders connected to the camp fire in butte county... are now lifted. the wildfire started in early november... killing 85 people and burning more than 153- thousand acres before it was contained. the town of paradise was hardest hit. and as investigators track down the cause of the fire... a federal judge says pg&e has until the end of this year to explain any role it had in causing the fire. ( james ) three contractors working to help clean-up following the camp fire have been fired following a post on facebook. photos were posted showing several workers on burned-out property, mocking the destruction they were being paid to clean up. one photo shows the body of a cat killed in the fire, with a beer bottle placed by its mouth. the posts also include offensive captions. city leaders in paradise say police are looking trying to determine if any laws were broken... like tresppassing. the company, "bigge, crane, and rigging," issued a statement announcing the termination of the crew members.
