A man is taken into custody after an hours long standoff in milpitas. It happened at the kfc restaurant on south main street. Employees called police after they heard a man banging on the alls and yelling in the bathroom just before 7 00 last night. When Police Arrived they heard what they though was a gun shot and evacuated the restaurant. After an hours long standoff the man was taken into custody overnight. So far no other details have been released. darya police are looking for two brazen theives who robbed a jewlery story in antioch. It happened at lauryn jewelers monday morning. Witnesses say the robbers went to the front door of the store dressed in black suits, dark sunglasses, and were possible wearing wigs. They knocked on the door and were let inside. Officers say the men then pepper sprayed the store clerk. The thieves broke multiple cases and grabbed whatever they could. Another witness says the robbers knew what they were doing. A resolution will be introduced today urging lawmakers to pass legislation banning distracted walking. The supervisor is confident the legislation will pass. Saying the law will save lives. The number of homicides in San Francisco has gone up in the last two years. This time last year Police Reported 31 people were killed in the city. Now that number is up to 48. Police say the homicides are a combination of random and targeted events. Back in june a gunman took his own life after killing three of his coworkers inside a ups building in potero hill. In july a local photographer was killed at twin peaks. And last weekend a trans activist was murdered in the tenderloin. Sfpd promises to double foot patrols throughout the city in hot spots for each particular station to help bring down violent crime. mark firefighters in the east bay are investigating eight suspicious fires that have been set since sunday. One of the fires happened near a school and another near a home. And a fire yesterday morning targeted a church in antioch. The pastor says that fire is impacting children and two different congregations. Firefighters say all of the fires happened in a three mile radius. Fortunately nobody has been injured by any of the fires. mark the city of berkeley is considering overturning a two decade ban on Police Officers using pepper spray during protests. The police chief recommends the change because of the series of violent clashes between political extermists there. The chief says pepper spray would allow officers to directly target specific attackers engaged in violence. Police would still not be allowed to use pepper spray to disperse peaceful demonstrators. This request comes just days before a speech by right wing talk show host ben shapiro at cal which is expected to draw protesters.
