Kroger out, resort amenities in, at University City project

With its expansive rooftop deck – complete with pool and hammocks, grills and games – the new City apartment complex on Olentangy River Road is all set to party.
But it will do so without its previous first-floor retail anchor, Kroger. The grocery store will not return to the center just off Ackerman Road, even though a space was designed for it.
The six-story mixed-use complex is at the heart of the redeveloped University City Shopping Center just north of Ohio State University. The City celebrated its grand opening a week ago, 15 months into a pandemic that has dampened leasing for urban apartment complexes and retail centers.
