Reporter but others like eddie lowe think trader joes offers more affordability to hayes valley residents, where an inability to buy groceries nearby meant facing high prices. Do a lot of cooking upstairs. For example, all these corner stores, if you forget one tomato, youre paying 6 or 7 at these corner stores. Reporter now, ryan, i also did check in with a few locals here today about possible safety concerns. Keep in mind there are a couple security guards inside of trader joes right now. Ten hand crews were in humboldt county going through testing how to respond on the front lines. Theyre graded on everything from how they eat lunch to using the restroom properly. Then theres that hike test. Its 2. 8 miles mainly uphill. So they hike it full gear with full water. We time them on that. Its right about 65 minutes and if you come in faster than 60 minutes, then youre hiking a little bit too fast. You need to pace yourself a little better. Coming in over 70 minutes, then you are a little bit too slow. Everybody keeps a proper spacing, a ten foot spacing, and they communicate along the way of hazards on the road. That ten feet of space is for safety because all that gear theyre carrying including chainsaws and because lives are on the line, its a must pass or they have to take it again. Lets check in with first alert meteorologist, paul heggen. Weve been talking about the rain and cool temperatures. Now its time to switch gears and talk about fire season. Especially once we start to get some warmer weather in place, which we havent had any extensive heatwaves to this point in the season, but its bound to happen for inland parts of the bay area. In store for the weekend we have a continuation of this generally calm weather pattern, typical midmay weather in place. The storm track is way up to our north in British Columbia and northern sections of the pacific northwest. Here we are with our normal may weather including normal may temperatures this evening. Temperatures now are 60s to the 70s with a few 50s, 72 degrees in novato and just 68 degrees in the north bay, 60 degrees in San Francisco, 64 degrees in oakland, along the coast the cool spots as usual, been tough to shake the fog again today, 57 degrees for half moon bay, mid60s redwood city, upper 60s in fremont, warmer temperatures farther inland, 80 degrees in antioch and the Santa Clara Valley a mix of upper 60s and low 70s. Lets talk about what happens through the rest of the extended forecast. The foggy pattern will be with us. You see behind me not a whole lot of fog on the bay bridge yet. Its going to spread in as we head through this evening and tonight. Reduced visibility to start the day saturday, but the fog will back up to the coast by late morning, should see some sunshine peeking through for the rest of the bay area with mostly sunny skies inland and i think sunday well have a better chance of seeing even some sunshine breaking through along the coast. Temperatures tonight mostly low to mid50s, cool spots in the valley upper 40s and high temperatures tomorrow everyone within a few degrees of normal for this time of year, mid to upper 60s around the bay with mostly 70s inland. Well zoom in for a closer look. Along the coast its upper 50s, low to mid70s down the peninsula, mid to upper 70s in the Santa Clara Valley, temperatures inland in the east bay far inland are the warmest, 80 in antioch, 81 degrees brentwood and most other temperatures around the mid to upper 70s, mid to upper 60s for San Francisco and oakland and the north bay, not as warm as other inland parts of the bay area because the fog takes longer to back up, 60s until you go much farther north with low 80s in inland Mendocino County and lake county. Weve got the tenday temperature outlook because within that time frame weve got memorial day weekend. Weve got a warmup early next week, temperatures in San Francisco climbing to the upper 60s and retreat to near or slight libre he lo average ly below average levels. Tuesday up into the mid80s for livermore and then retreating closer to normal and then a little below average heading into the threeday holiday weekend. Lets look at the sevenday forecast. Weve got plenty of time to worry about memorial day weekend because its still in the tenday outlook, a long way to go in forecasting terms. Temperatures are going up and down a bit. Looks like monday and tuesday are the warmest days inland with highs in the hope to mid 80s and then everybody drops down closer to normal and a similar progression around the bay, not quite as really violent with the ups and downs, but low to mid70s a few days, especially monday and tuesday. Temperatures along the coast manage to warm up to a slightly noticeable extent to the low 60s a few days and more sunshine peeking through the clouds sunday, monday and tuesday for coastal parts of the bay area and then the may gray is back.
