Thats associated with the warm temperatures, but the storm system is hanging out over the Desert Southwest and even Southern California and its the contrast between those thats driving those strong northerly offshore winds, some of the strongest gusts in the highest elevations, not just around the bay area, but into Southern California as well. This is the same storm system thats responsible for showers and thunderstorms in arizona and a lot of snow along the front range of the rocky mountains, denver picking up a foot or two of accumulation around that metro area.
