We are starting our monday aware that some of us got a little rain over the weekend. Darren peck joins us. Good morning. Some places got a lot more than others over the weekend. It was pretty impressive rainfall totals in fact for the north bay. If we look at the map, put the rainfall totals for what we had sunday. And when we look at the number, the number that stands out most is in the north bay. Look at santa rosas number. When we look at that number, we had a half an inch of rain compared to about 16 hundredths of an inch for everybody else. Look at petaluma. Novato, not as much. But thats in the past. We have no more rain coming our way. Instead we are waking up and have issues with visibility. As we bring the fog on, it looks fairly cloudy. This is a particular issue for fog for one part of the bay. Believe it or not, we will spotlight that same location that got the most rain. Look at santa rosa. Visibility is down to a quarter of a mile. Everybody else can see fine. Petaluma your visibility is down to one mile. The numbers are telling you how far you can see down the road. As we look at the map again, i will lose the visualization and i want you to look at the numbers. Everybody else can see several miles down the road. Today will be the warmest day of the week. We are starting with a live look at the golden gate bridge, making sure there is no fog to slow you but you might be dealing with slick surfaces. I had a lot of that yesterday and a little bit this morning too. Be mindful of that. Bay bridge toll plaza, metering lights are off and easy ride into the city. At the san mateo, nice travel conditions between 880 and 101. The closure along 87, all lanes open south from 280 to 85. The east bay where four teens were shot at a Party Saturday night in oakley. One died and the other three are in the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. It haedin front of a home on shannon way around 11 00 when 20 or 30 people were denied entry into the party. They got in through a side yard and that led to arguments and gunfire. It may be hard to see but the Surveillance Footage shows the chaos in the aftermath, people screaming and yelling, neighbors running to help the victims. House of representatives is again starting without a speaker. House republicans dropped jim jordan as nominee after he failed to win a majority three times last week. Nine Party Members are throwing their hats in and republicans will meet for a candidate form to discuss potential nominees. Internal vote is expected tomorrow morning. Its senior leaders, weapons, tunnels all are in residential buildings, buried under hospitals and schools. Israel has to do everything it can to be sure this doesnt happen again. Freezing things where they are now would allow hamas to remain where it is and to repeat what its done sometime in the future. Children were given a lead role but the organizer with the Bay Area Family Solidarity Network admits that can be controversial in a situation like this. A lot of people worry and dont want to talk to their kids. Theyre worried theyll make them scared, how its going to come across, if you are putting your politics on your kids. But you talk in a way that helps them understand as theyre growing up, they can access it. They know whats going on and can start figuring things out for themselves. Take a look past San Francisco and north bay. Pick your part of the bay on here. Temperatures in the north bay only got to the mid 60s yesterday. We were talking about how that was the place with the most rain. You also have an issue with fog up there. The visibility is down to a quarter mile for santa rosa and inland valleys. Thats been one of the places that felt the impact the most. Its also where we will warm up most. I will switch the numbers and remove the daytime highs. I will bring in how much warmer the numbers are than yesterday. Look at some of these, like ten degrees warmer in some places. You notice the warm up today. Its not like we have a drastic cool down. This is the warmest day but the temperatures will start coming down a bit through the next few days. Lets get into that story and look at some of the details on the forecast. If we look at the sevenday forecast, you can see the inland parts of the bay in the upper 70s. After that, we are not getting out of the mid 60s for inland valleys. To finish the story on the sevenday forecast, well bring in the seven day for the bay and you can see temperatures will be in the mid 60s by thursday and friday. How is the drive . Good morning. Its really just more like left over thick marine layer stuff. There is no rain detected anywhere. Since rain was an issue, look at the totals. We got an inch on some mountains through the northern edge. Cobb mountain got an inch. Lake sonoma, about an inch. We got almost a half inch in mill valley. Where reed was yesterday he got more rain than most of us. Look at the campus of uc berkeley. If we go to the map, this tells us, i think, the story most of us experienced which is what the rainfall totals were. Theyre very low. Look at the south bay. We barely got a couple hundredths of an inch of rain. San jose you are there, about 3 hundredths of an inch of rain. If you go north, santa rosa got about a half inch of rain. If you got a half inch of rain yesterday and you have cooled into the overnight hours, what starts to happen is the fog starts to build back in. Look at the visualization as we fill in the map for where the fog is and we can put the visibility numbers here. Look at santa rosa. It says. 25. Thats telling you you can only see a quarter of a mile down the road for santa rosa. Back to the wide view, lets see how everybody else is looking. Solid numbers, visibility is okay for the majority. This will not last long. Today is going to be more sunshine than anything else. In terms of comparing yesterday to today, you may not recognize the place. The school is preparing to support students and staff still processing the loss. Good morning. A tough reality that theyre waking up to this morning. Reporter good morning. It certainly is a difficult way to start the week. We understand theyre going to try to do what they can on campus to help the students and staff who are struggling and need that support. We want to show you video thats going to give a sense of how this took place. It happened in oakley and there is some surveillance video. It may be hard to see whats happening because its dark but it did capture important moments after the shooting. You can hear yelling and you see someone running across the street to try and help. We know that is one of the witnesses and someone who did try to actually help out some of the students who were injured. Again, there were four injuries and of that, one student did die. We were able to talk to the man and he explains a little bit about what he did when he got on scene and saw two teenage boys on the ground. I heard somebody say they were shot. I ran out and grabbed one of my tourniquets. I happened to see the other kid pass away. I was right there as he took his last breaths. It was surreal. Reporter we have a message from the principal sent to the community saying we know a traumatic event like this can send shock waves through a community. To help during the trying time, we have set up the library as a place for students and staff who need support to talk with counseling staff. Oakley police is the agency that is investigating and the chief told kpix that this is shocking because it does not happen often, this type of shooting. They are making it a priority for the community and say they are working hard to try to make an arrest in the case. Nicole. Thank you so much, shawn. Another tense situation on campus. Petaluma high school was alerted to alleged threats made against students at the school. Investigators say that the threats were found written on a bathroom wall fray. Ey say that the threats named specific students and listed today as the day that will threats would be carried out. In Response Police say they will have increased presence on campus and theyve identified a number of people who are conducting interviews now with students and parents to try and find out more. Tri valley, your numbers will go to 78. Red wood city 75. To the north bay, we will see a very different day than the one we had yesterday. San francisco, you will have a 70degree day. Look at the numbers for daytime highs. Santa rosa, mid 60s yesterday. If we take the daytime highs, and you see we will climb to around 80 today, lets show you how much warmer you are going to be today than you were yesterday. Thats a big jump. You will be 11 degrees warmer. Napa, you will be 14 degrees warmer. That story stands out more so in the north bay than just about for anybody else. We get a warm up today but it wont be as dramatic as it will be in the sonoma and napa. Lets get into the details on this forecast. The first item, weve got a dense fog advisory. We look at the visibilities in the last visit. We are always picking on the north bay but the visibility is lowest in santa rosa. Thats why the dense fog advisory is exclusive to north bay valleys. Up and down 101 and into napa, give yourself extra time on the road because you will likely encounter fog. I mentioned the warm up. It is the warmest of the next seven days. When we look at the big picture and see what the pacific will try and throw our way, there are systems that will try to get in with rain. Here is the first one. This is far enough away that we are not feeling it. A quiet day monday and this is why weve got the warm up. Watch the system towards the second half of the week.
