We are getting our first reaction to the case from a woman who knew the victim well. Bob lees exwife and the mother of his children. Our lauren toms was there and she spoke outside the courtroom and rebutted key claims from the defense. What a day in court yeah, juliette. The result of this hearing is that nima momeni is going to trial, but today we learned new twists in the relationship between the two, and from lees exwife who says she is shielding her family from the more gruesome details. Outside the courtroom, the exwife speaking out for the First Time Since the killing. Her voice cracking with emotion as she showed her support for the prosecutions case. They are doing the best they can and i dont think there is anything sloppy about this. He stabbed him. The fact that he stabbed him multiple times is disgusting. Reporter prosecutors made their case during a twoday hearing with Video Surveillance and expert witnesses who testified that dna evidence from nima momeni was found on the handle of the knife used in the fatal stabbing, while lees dna was found on the blade. Lee says she has no reason to believe that they were friends prior to her exhusbands death. I dont think they were friends. I never heard him mentioned. Reporter but the defense painted a different picture and argued that his decision to act in an area with cameras paired with a friendly history with lee do not amount to premeditated murder. We chose manslaughter because it is the lesser crime and we believe that i told the judge, i said listen. If anything, they have proven manslaughter because they do not have malice and all the other things that the government reporter one key witness we have not heard yet is nima momenis sister who allegedly had a relationship with lee. Throughout this case we have been learning new details that do suggest that she played a pivotal role in the events that transpired in the Early Morning hours of april 4th earlier this year, so once we do hear from her when this case goes to trial, she will definitely have information to shed on this case. It is adding more legal troubles for trump as he makes another bid for the white house. According to the indictment, the president faces four charges, conspiracy to defraud the united states, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and also conspiracy against rights. So i think that this is a reframing of how we have understood these events. So what does that language mean then, necessarily, in terms of the charges . We are in such a hyperpolarized time that i think unfortunately the language will not matter too much. I think trump opponents will already think he is guilty and supporters will already think he is innocent. Trump operates in a very unique space in american politics were whenever he is indicted or accused of doing something criminal, his supporters rally around him stronger and stronger. He has done a great job of making his supporters feel like an extension of them, where if he is indicted, they are indicted. He is basically clear the republican primary field and a poll has him neck and neck with joe biden. So this has hardly been politically devastating for the former president. Eight people were displaced. It took firefighters two hours to get this under control. While that was going on, people in the area grabbed their phones and these were some of the videos that were posted. Keep in mind that this is around 6 00 in the morning, so people were just getting up for the day or were jolted awake by the loud popping. Fire officials said the heat was so intense that it actually melted the seats on their fire trucks and broke windows in the buildings across the street. They say the fire grew so big because the building was still under construction without a roof or walls to contain the flames. We do not have the suppression system we would normally see in a building and we do not have heat protection from closed doors or heat protection from drywall, just to name a few.
