They splashed down off the coast of florida from the pad behind me where they launched on wednesday. A Threeday Camping Trip in the cosmos ended with a splash off the florida coast. Inspiration4, on behalf of spacex, welcome home to planet earth. Reporter inspiration4, a Space Voyage like no other. Not a single professional astronaut aboard. That itself is not new. But by orbiting the earth in a Spacex Capsule 15 times a day. Were seeing the world every 90 minutes. Reporter . The civilian crew did circles around previous adventures in cosmic tourism. Now to the nations capitol, where a rally supporting the January 6 rioters led to a substantial Law Enforcement Presence today. Cbs Jeff Pegues is there. Jeff, how did all this play out . Reporter well, errol, before today, the expectation was about 500 people would come to the rally, but at the end of the day, police say only about 450 people showed up, and they were far outnumbered by police. The massive Police Presence stood guard around the perimeter of the capitol building. Some of the officers were in riot gear, others on bicycles, all part of the robust Security Presence on hand to counter any potential violence. Law enforcements plan was to keep counterprotesters away from the main demonstration. You see this group of Bike Police officers . There are probably about 15 or 20 of them. And they are escorting a counterprotester, a man who was dressed all in black, with some sort of sign referring to black lives matter what so proudly reporter the justice for J6 Rally continued. We need to start saying no more. Reporter organizers wanted to draw attention to what they believe is the unfair treatment of some of the people arrested in connection with the January 6 insurrection. This is about the many people who were there that day who have not been charged with violence, not been accused of assaulting a Police Officer or destroying property and the Disparate Treatment they have received. Jonathan mellis, who is facing a 10count indictment, among the charges assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers using a dangerous Weapon Pd Ryan zinke is charged with violent entry and Disorderly Conduct on capitol grounds. For weeks, police have been concerned about a repeat of the January 6 violence that led to five deaths, more than 100 officers injured and millions of dollars in damage to the capitol building. This time around, Law Enforcement was prepared. Late today, police told us that they made a total of four arrests out here, only one of those for possession of a firearm. Errol. But that Message Hasnt proved to be a deterrent instead of crossing the international bridge to Del Rio, texas, an estimated 12,000 migrants, many of them haitian, are now camped out under it. We now have onethird of the population of the city of Del Rio, texas, in a confined space. Reporter 400 Border Agents are being sent in to help, according to the department of Homeland Security, which says they will accelerate the pace and increase the capacity of removal flights to haiti and other destinations. The storm killed 26 people in that state, and more than 80 across the country. Ida also devastated thousands of homes and businesses. For so many, the hurricanes effects are still being felt, and that includes first responders in hardhit lafourche parish. Thanh truong of Cbs Affiliate wwltv has the story. Reporter the central office for Lafourche Fire District three took some heavy hits from Hurricane Ida. On this day, rain comes through parts of the roof, but enough is intact to keep operations going. Its where many members of this Firefighting Team are sleeping every night. At night time the bed comes down. Reporter Mary Rotolo is the supervisor of communications. When the Hurricane Tour through lafourche parish, it didnt spare the homes of firefighters. Like so many other families, they, too, are facing a housing crisis. We have 33 firefighters that are kiss placed and looking for housing. Theres no places to rent. Theres no hotels. The hotels were damaged. I try to come every day after work and try to salvage what i can. Reporter for more than 30 years, rotolo shared this home in golden meadow, louisiana with her husband, until he died last year. Among the few things the store didnt destroy are the floral arrangements she made for his grave. All the flowers were out of the whole cemetery except his. He had one vase with one power in it. Reporter Mary Rotolos son lived right next door. Take a look. The hurricane took the roof right off. She says as shes considering whether or not to rebuild, she has to consider her son in that process. With Special Needs children and minimum money from her husbands life insurance, rotolo has tough choices to make. And my two boys are always going to need somebody to take care of them, and i wonder Whats Anything to happen to them when im not here anymore. So in my mind, i have to take that money that i have and use it wisely, and im not sure rebuilding here is wise. Heres our kitchen. Reporter firefighters can often respond to any emergency, but creating housing is beyondc. Their needs are specific and simple. Were hoping that fema steps up to at least let us stay in our community. Dont house us two hours away. Reporter this is a group that pride itself in giving help. They are not accustomed to asking for it. But this hurricane is forcing them and so many others to let go of the past and accept a new reality. Reporter it was conceived in 1962 by the Artist Christo and his partner, Jean Claude. They also wrapped the Reichstag Building in berlin, the sydney coastline, and 11 islands off miami.
