The sudden resignation of three term new York Governor Andrew Cuomo Today came as a shock to many because for days, if not weeks, cuomo had vowed to fight allegations of Sexual Harassment by 11 women. Moments before he announced his exit in fact, cuomo and his lawyer blasted the allegations as politically motivated and unfair. Still, cuomo said he will leave office in 14 days, and as a result, new York Lieutenant governor Kathy Hochul will become, very soon, the states first female governor. Cuomo still faces criminal investigations, as well as potential civil lawsuits from his accusers. Cuomo once drew praise as a defender of womens rights, having signed into law new protections against Sexual Harassment in 2019. But cuomos alleged behavior and Todays Resignation in the minds of many overshadow his record over 10 years in office.
