The bay area, marin is the only bay area county in the red tier. The rest in purple. The states most restrictive tier. San francisco and san mateo are the two latest counties to shift to purple. The curfew started last night and itll continue until december 21th. Its because purple counties. That means are you required to stay inside with only people in your household from ten to five. Thats unless are you an essential work or walking your dog, exercising or getting a late take out dinner or early take outbreak fast at this point. Restaurants had to be part educator and part enforcer last night as everything stopped they had to hurry patrons out the door ahead of that time limit. They say every minute they arent open cuts into their profit margin making a tough year worse. The governor said its the only way to avoid a christmas coronavirus rush. We are assessing this in realtime over the next day or two to make determinations of deep purple moves. More in line with the stay at home order that folks were familiar with in the beginning of this year. What does that look like . The governor said that if the search continues, 78 of hospital beds will be occupied by christmas and icu beds would be at capacity by the end of the year. The governor said in order to change that he is even considering issuing a stay at home order for the purple tier which includes 51 of 58 counties which would be more than 90 of the population of the entire state of california under the curfew warnings. This is set to expire on the 21th of december but theres a real possibility that it doesnt expire then if cases do not go down and remember, we have yet to see what doctors are expecting to be a post thanksgiving surge in cases. Hospitals are now preparing for another possible surge after the thanksgiving holiday. 80 of beds are full in Santa Clara County and hospitals have been bringing in extra staff. They are getting tired. We are doing our best to make sure that everybody is getting the rest they need in between their shifts and their days off. We are getting close to the numbers that we experienced during our peak in late march and april. We are concerned. We are prepared for a very dark winter. During the coronavirus surge last spring, Regional Medical center treated more patients than any other hospital in the bay area. New this morning, european regulators say the first Coronavirus Vaccine could be approved by december 29th. Pfizer asks europe to okay its vaccine for approval. The American Company and its german partner submitted their request to the agency yesterday and that caps a rolling review process that started back in october. New a vaccine trial participant is speaking out about his experience. I didnt have any really negative side effects. After the second injection the day after my temperature rose a couple degrees around 99, after that, you know i was fine. I didnt get sick or didnt have any problems. Maderna will apply for emergency use authorization for its vaccine with the fda. This a week after pfiser asked for fda authorization for its vaccine. Almost all of my unemployment has been basically hacked. That was brooks reaction when she went to check her bank of america edd card balance. Two charges, one for 1,500 and another for 1200 had wiped out her account. She said she was on hold for hours, two days straight before she was age to file a claim. She still is fighting to get all her money back. If feels like bank of america isnt taking seriously. It feels like we are being treated like second class citizens. Others were caught in the same thing. We have received more emails, everybody desperately crying out for help. How many of you have lost money to fraud . Your account . A thousand dollars. Two transactions of a thousand dollars each. My mother lost over a thousand. How about you . 5,990. Everybody in this room lost their jobs because of the pan democrat speck depends on their Unemployment Benefits to survive. Im a single mother. Very a son. Im a widow. Trying to get bank of america to help is almost impossible. Everybody else was on hold. Two, three hours, called again. Can i put you on hold, click. I went in to the bank myself to try to get help in person. They were they didnt want to touch it. They were like dont talk to us. Call the number on the wall. They say once you do get through. They try to make you feel guilty saying no, no. This is valid withdrawal. It happened at two atms. You know, miles from me in the middle of the night. I said how do they make two transactions in san diego and arizona with in minutes of each other. Despite evidence, the victim did nothing for them. I sent my ftc report. The same day they were withdrawing. Money taken out of atm machines and they have cameras on them. They say they got letters about this one that says the above listed crime. Letter was dated the20th. Nothing was investigated just a letter was generated as soon as i hung up the phone. The lefter againsto to say you may request that it reopen the claim. Actually called this morning at 7 00 a. M. She gave me a new claim number. What use is that if we cant even check the status of that claim . I know im not exempt from fraud. I know thats just the time we are living in and people will get more desperate. When you have an institution as large as bank of america and they are refusing to do anything about it and the state is a ware of it too. I just dont think thats fair. Bank of america turned down a request for an interview it. Wont say how many are affected, how much has been stolen or when, if ever victims will get their money back. The bank has to do a real investigation they cant deny claims that they know are probably fraudulent. Lauren saunders was the National Consumer law center said the real problem is forcing people to use the debit card that doesnt have a security chip. The California Employment Department may do a run around federal law by offering paper checks. What california does is force people into the cards. Under the law you have the right to choose how you receive your Unemployment Benefits. The contract with bank of america may have something to do with it. Its a revenue sharing guyment in which edd gives the taxpayer funds to distribute and the bank pays for the privilege of handling the money. Its profitable for bank of america and edd. I think that is part of the reason that california is pushing people into using the cards rather than using direct deposit. I dont understand why b of a has this longstanding contract. There is protection under that visa logo. That bank of puts on that prepaid card. It was prepaid but i will get my money back. Im not going to stop. Edd said if the fraud is happening on the card then its up to bank of america to resolve it and pay the victims back. When he canned them about that the answer came back no comment. Kpix5.
