The lnu complex fires are burning more than 350 thousand acres across five counties, including marin, napa, and solano. It is 22 contained. There are signs of progress in the north bay tonight. Some residents who were forced to evacuate can now return home. We are in Sonoma County, where many are returning home to the unknown. Reporter will check points remain for safety reasons, some evacuation orders are getting lifted. Some people are getting the go ahead to go home. Even with columns of smoke lingering, evacuation orders are lifting in parts of western Sonoma County. People are heading home. Jane grabbed her dogs and her carpentry gear. My chainsaws, my tools, that is it. I did not even bring clothes. Reporter she ran from the flames. She cannot wait to get home, though she does not how long she might stay. I am thinking about moving. I lost a lot of stuff in the flood. Now i might lose it all in the fire. Im getting too old for this. Reporter at this cafc kitchen has been pumping out meals for firefighters and Law Enforcement on the front line. Even though coowners, and their entire staff had to evacuate. For me, it has been satisfying. Very rewarding. Reporter the lifting of evacuation orders feels like a weight lifted after worrying over the line. Winds and flames four days. It is a turning point. We were just starting to get back to normal. Then the fire hit. This is our third scare here in the last three years. It has been unnerving. Reporter went natural disasters pushing for each day, even a slight change can feel like a victory. That was good news. Reporter the myers fire is 90 percent contained tonight. The walbridge fire, which is burning west of hills burke, has less containment. There are still evacuation orders standing in that area. The scu complex has burned more than 360,000 acres across five different counties, including santa clara and alameda. It is about 15 contained. Today, some relief for thousands of residents in the area. The wind shifted. Firefighters were able to keep those flames from spreading to some neighborhoods today. Because of that, evacuation orders were denigrated in parts of santa clara county. Being able to find a place up there to create those lines and keep it from threatening the east side of san jose, heroic effort up there for them to patrol the line, hold that line. Stay present on that land with the threat of under storms and the dry lightning. I keep getting up every two hours to look at the horizon to find out how are the fire was from us. More progress in Santa Cruz County, more than 1600 firefighters are battling the czu complex. 276 structures have been destroyed. Thousands remained friends. The fight is not over yet. The biggest help came from the skype. Six helicopters dropping 200,000 gallons of water on these fires. It is a welcome sight to get aircraft up. This is a historic event. We make sure the dollars go where they are needed most. We have 90 of our folks who worked on these disasters are volunteers. Those dollars will go to immediate assistance for those who have been affected and impacted. They will help people as they go back to their homes and cleanup, hopefully, what they have left and support the way to recovery. We are feeding and providing a place to stay. Of the heat and wildfire smoke on top of the covid pandemic is creating especially hard times for farm workers. We have a look at what they are facing. Reporter farm workers continue to stay out working in the field. Now, some of them are starting to speak out about the difficult and dangerous conditions they have been working through. A thick wicked of wildfire smoke and the lush form fields of the Salinas Valley and other worldly appearance. We you cannot see is 100 degree temperatures that came with the choking smoke. It is in these conditions that this woman has been working in for the past week. She says it has been very hot. There is a lot of dust. They have a hard time breathing. The get headaches and sore throats. They have to keep working because if they do not work, how will they live . Another says her employees do not give water. They do not provide the workers with masks, gloves, or other protective equipment, which is a violation of california law. Employers need to protect their workers from the wildfire we have a new regulation. It came into effect last year. Reporter the new regulations are based on the airquality index, which was above 150 last week. If the airquality index is above 150 that would be in the until the category. The Employer Needs to provide and 95 face masks to employees to workers. Reporter they play for their own Safety Equipment out of their own wages. She says wages are down because it is piecework and much of the fruit is damaged by the smoke. It is harder than average to be farmworker. Reporter and advocate filed an official complaint against the employers, including norcal harvesting. We contacted norcal through an email portal but did not get a response. [ speaking nonenglish ]. Reporter she said she is speaking out to only bring more attention to the farm workers and says she only wants for the companies to give the workers a little more consideration. Is demonstrating it well with the smoke in the air. You could hardly seeac valley. Miserable airquality for much of the bay area. They will be subtle shifts. We will not completely get rid of the smoke. Some small changes to the overall weather pattern. Worst of all, the heat down. It is weakening and shifting to the east. The smoke is not trapped as much. The wind can start around a bit. We will be closer to average temperatures. Still hot inland, but not ridiculously hot. The smoke remains but it will fluctuate. Kurt airquality, this looks a whole lot better than what we should do at 5 00 and 6 00. There are a lot of spots in the moderate category, and set up unhealthy, or hazardous. There are a few of those, usually in the czu fire and the woodward fire. What of these spots, the onshore breeze has stirred the atmosphere around. Does not get rid of the smoke but it spreads it out and helps to mix it up lp you will still notice the smell in the air for the next several days. The High Resolution smoke model does indicate that the thickest smoke will get pushed further inland. It will drift around as the breeze tends to fluctuate and kicks in during the afternoon and soft as we head overnight. It will be with us. The airquality will be an issue. There will be at least occasional relief from the worst of the airquality as we head true the next few days. The thickest smoke will be over the east and south bay. It will collect and the valleys. Just the shape of the geography and the direction of the wind about going to the golden gate and will reach the inland areas. The fog is sneaking inland as we speak. It is hard to see it is there. Temperature downtown is 58. 70 in concorde. 73 in livermore and 57 in santa rosa. Temperatures will back down to the 50s and low to mid 60s as temperatures drop. The relative humidity goes up. That is what we want to see for as long as possible. Looks like the fog will make its way inland before does its usual thing of backing up toward the coast. Was the gray skies for most of the day. Hazy skies elsewhere with temperatures hot inland. It 80s and 90s with low to mid 70s around the bay. These temperatures are close to what is normal at this time of year. That is the trend for the next several days. Occasionally heat up. Ready will be toasty. At least we are close to normal for late august. Temperatures drop every night and allows the community to go up and the fire crews get a few hours of more favorable containment conditions.
