May have overpressurized the system in an area where the pipes were just too old to handle it. So the cause is still under investigation in emeryville. This is in the area of ocean avenue and hollis streets in berkeley, four intersections are affected. Mostly in the area of West Sacramento street and south of university avenue. And at last word, east bay m. U. D. Crews still hard at work as they have been all night long. Hoping to have water restored to about 300 customers sometime this morning. Also monitoring a huge wildfire that is burning right now in Southern California is. Taking a live right now at what is known as the lake fire. It is in the Angeles National forest and hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes in the lake hughes arabou 1000 acres and first reported just before 4 00 yesterday. About 100 homes are evacuated and fire Officials Say this fire has been unusual based on the fact its burning earlier in the season and its spread especially quickly. Even though there havent really been any strong winds pushing it along. So they are continuing this fire fight right now. Some of those areas they say havent been burned since 1968. The district announced yesterday that it has reached a tentative agreement with its teachers and staff. Critics say its a less than ideal situation because school already started via Distance Learning mode three days ago. The first week of school is the beginning of the process of this building this relationship. And so it is an incredibly difficult thing to do through the computer. For months, oakland unified and the Teachers Union have been trying to agree on several issues from live versus recorded instruction time to the number of hours teachers work a day. R arnow online and emic, all of she no longer feels safe sharing a room so shes novembered back in with her mom in long beach but still on the hook to pay rent in san jose. I will be paying, i have no other choice. Reporter also paying rent at home and her mom lost work because of covid19. So she is picking up extra shifts at target to help her family stay afloat. The financial strain is getting to her. Am i going to have to be a parttime now . You know, make up for the money that im going to have to pay . Reporter 19yearold gianna is in a similar situation. I miss my friends and i miss the whole social aspect and just like going to like football games. Reporter shes supposed to be heading back to Sacramento State right now. Instead, shes at home in pacifica. And her mom is footing the bill it froint of view ir. Also. I dont think its fair that there isnt any type of leniency. Reporter carol has been out of work since april. She works at Alaska Airlines but she was hoping she wouldnt have to pay for housing that gianna wont use. Unfortunately theres not too many options right now. Until the state or a federal government takes action to protect renters or their parents in these situations. Try to avoid seeking legal advice. And offer to pay a fee to get out of your lease if at all possible. She says thats likely whats best for both parties. Especially if you really dont have the money to pay for the entire year. Maybe incentivized to come to a deal up front to take a lesser amount of money instead of going through expensive and time intensive process of suing a student for unpaid rent. Reporter students should check the lease for a force force majeure or act of god clause. If you dont have that clause, you can offer to pay a fee. If that doesnt work, then you can give your landlord a 30 day notice to vacate. Which legally incentivizes them to try to replace you. But until you find a subletter, you are still on the hook to pay rent. So i did pay the first months rent because you know, again, i dont want bad credit. And i didnt really have a choice. So definitely slowing thindowns on the northbound side of 101 but really the only slow spot along the peninsula this morning. Another part of 101, this part is though in the green. With no delays both directions 101 in and out of marin county. If you are headed southbound from the richmondsan rafael rand, south 10over traffic bridge with an easy 14 minu time. So with those temperatures on the rise, were looking at about five to ten degrees above average for this time of year today. And excessive heat watch in effect friday into the weekend. For the east bay hills and interior valleys and for the south bay. So dangerous heat inland beginning tomorrow and staying hot into next week. So there we go with that excessive heat watch for the areas highlighted in yellow. Again, for parts of the east bay and inland and as well as for the south bay. Thats from friday at noon through sunday at 7 00 p. M. And were talking about triple digit heat inland especially tomorrow through the weekend.
