It is hard to control people. I mean it is i am sure it is a concern if there is a lot of people but people are going to do what they are going to do. Reporter the concern is in july there was a 40 jump in cases stemming from large gatherings and parties. These four zip codes covering east oakland have the highest number of coronavirus per 100,000 in the region. I encourage oaklanders to be vigilant. Reporter they are reminding people to avoid large gatherings but many feel the city needs to take action, first step is to enforce the new restrictions banning vendors from operating near city parks. Your education message has not worked. Educate people by forcing the rules. Without that, it is empty measure when people know, okay, nothing is going to happen. Reporter city leaders say education is the key to long term success. I am trying to stay away from the conversation of enforcement because one of the most unsuccessful ways to get someone to change their behaviors over the longterm is by forcing them to do something. Reporter the Alameda Health Department Says out of the new cases popping up 65 are among people 18 to 50 years old. In oakland, kpix5. That happened just moments before this 3 block toss to vern, just happened. I am thinking the ball went into the stands, no one there to catch it. Normally when it happens, you get mobbed at home plate. It is a mosh pit, none of that. Good job, thumbs up. I would like to say it is a long season but it is not. [music] live music, dinner, drinks, tonight, a carfree valencia street between 16th and 17th and between 18th and 19th energized a neighborhood hit hard by the pandemic. It almost feels european feel, everything outside dinning and drinking and having a great time. And it includes families, kids, you know, fathers, mothers, grand parents and all of that good stuff. Reporter bicyclists and pedestrians replaced traffic this evening. The owner pushed for the move. Just between last night and tonight there are restaurants that had their best night ever already. There was a wait for the First Time Since march last night. Most restaurants fully occupied. A yelp study found san francisco, oakland and hayward saw around 370 restaurants close for good since early march. Across the country the bay area had the third highest number of business closures behind new york and l. A. I think it is just more attractive for people to come down, you know, walk down, of course, the streets. They feel safer. Rt hello reporter for an allusive south bay entrepreneur. Hello, kpix. Reporter the businesses just got over 1 million thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Does he own this house . Reporter when we reached him on one of his multiple cell phone numbers he hung up. We checked with the county and his four companies are not licensed to do business here. It turns out there are more red flags. One of the rules of the ppp program is you can not get more than ppp loan. Reporter Professor James wilcox says to apply for a ppp loan you would have been in business before the pandemic started. His companies were registered with the state in june. This is not a program that was designed r reporter he says he would not be surprised if some companies are gaming the system because the application process was purposely designed to be simple so desperate Small Businesses can keep afloat and pay their employees, as a result, he says it is vulnerable. These documents require little documentation. It is easier to fill out the application for a ppp loan for an amount that might be 50 or 100 or even 500,000 or 1 million, easier than it is to get a personal credit card. The Watchdog Agency found a significant risk of fraud and Paycheck Protection Program loans, the gao recommends sba develop plans to identify and respond to risks and ppp. And address potential fraud. Professional wilcox says that will be a tall order. The loans are designed to be almost entirely forgiven and not paid back. Millions and millions of these loans have been made and it will be a gigantic task for any Government Agency or anybody else to really sort it out. Reporter after tran hung up we texted him letting him know he could call us if he changed his mind and wants to talk to us. So far that has not happened. Back to you. The sba says you may report mismanagement, misconduct, waste and fraud involving the program. We posted the information on our web site, kpix. Com. But now, im completely in control of my own life. [announcer] better bladders natural formula has been clinically shown to improve all the major symptoms in a clinical study, 90 of participants reported reduced visits to the bathroom and fewer leaks or accidents. Best of all, many saw results in as little as two weeks. Today youll meet dr. Michael hyman, a boardcertified physician Trained Medical center and a leading expert on the subject of bladder control. Now, join dr. Hyman and your host, suzanne setta. Hello and welcome to another edition of restore health naturally. Today were gonna be talking about the challenges of living with a weak and unpredictable bladder. And to help us discuss this very important topic is dr. Michael hyman who specializes in these issues. Dr. Hyman, thank you for being with us today. Thank you for having me, suzanne. I was actually surprised to find out how common a weak bladder really is. I understand 33 million americans suffer from this. Yeah, and honestly it could be more because so many of these people are embarrassed. They dont want to talk about it. One of them has this problem, and if you think about elderly folks, half of them probably have this problem. Thats a lot. Well tell us, what are the early signs that you might actually have a weak bladder . The first sign is probably gonna be urgency. Thats that sudden, intense need to go to the bathroom like right now, worried something terribles gonna happen. Oftits that sudden, intense ner sign of a weakbathroom or poorlycontrolled bladder. Thats when you have to go to the bathroom often. Like a woman who i can think of who was a waitress, and she would go sometimes every 15, 20 minutes. She couldnt keep her job. Well thats no good. Thats awful, as a matter of fact. And theyre talking about going during the day. What about at night . Because i gotta tell you, once a while, i get up. [michael] if youre getting up three, four times a night, and you multiply that by 365 days a year thats 1,000 trips to the bathroom. Thats a lot. And people dont like to talk about it because its embarrassing. Right, right. Its so embarrassing especially when you think about people who have accidents. Whether theyre coughing or sneezing, or the urgency to get to the bathroom so badly, that you start having an accident. I had a patient once, calling me in tears. A poor woman with her children at disneyland. She couldnt stay in line with her kids because the urge was so intense. So was gonna have an accident, so she spent the day in the infirmary. It could be because the urge is too strong or because theyre coughing or sneezing, but those accidents, thats catastrophic. So tell us, what are some options for treatment . Until recently, you would start with drugs and then it was going to surgery options. The drugs come with some really uncomfortable side effects, including constipation, dry mouth, dry skin, dry eyes, and upset stomach. Some are even linked to causing dementia. Because of these serious, severe side effects, and because you basically have to take these drugs indefinitely, the vast majority of people taking them will stop after just a month or two. Think about that. People would rather deal with leaks and diapers than deal with side effects of medications. Well then, if not drugs, you would try surgery . Surgery is the final option for us. And it could start with some kind of a procedure something called a pacemaker. Oh my gosh. Really, suzanne, the lack of a safe and effective product, one that people will stick with, its what drove me to search for an alternative that i could actually recommend to my patients. I looked at several natural supplements, but none really made that much of a difference. Then i came across a very impressive study in the medical literature on a natural supplement called better bladder. It was helping people in ways id never seen before in my 20 years a boardcertified urologist. Really a gamechanger. N ways id never seen before on my bladder anymore. I dont have the sensation that i have to go now. Now that im taking better bladder, im Getting Better sleep without rising four, five times in the middle of the night. And during the day at work. One time, 11 oclock, thats it. Itike having a to lt of everythinat was wrong and better bladder made me feel like i just crossed everything off that list, and i dont have to worry anymore. Well dr. Hyman, i know that you were very impressed with the Science Behind better bladder, so tell us specifically what you found. Suzanne, the first thing i do before i recommend any product is to see if there are any clinical studies supporting its effectiveness. If not, well, its a nonstarter for me. Not only did better bladder have a doubleblind, placebocontrolled study, the results were far more impressive than i would have ever expected. 86 saw a reduction of urgency. 84 of them had fewer trips to the bathroom at night. 90 went fewer times during the day and almost 94 saw a reduction in those awful leaks and accidents, and best of all, results were seen in as little as two weeks. It is really exciting to find that kind of substantiation behind the results for a natural product. Is that what won you over . Not entirely. I wanted to see how better bladder was gonna work in my own patients. So i gave it to them. And what i saw was very impressive. It validated everything i read in that study. Thats why better bladder is now my first option for helping people with these problems, and thats why im here today. It wasnt enough for you to help your patients. You wanted to get the word out to help everyone. Therabotanics, the Company Behind better bladder, developed an amazing breakthrough for everyone suffering from these bladder issues. There are a lot of conditions that people experience that arent diseases. Theyre not illnesses that can be cured by science. But which nature has provided simple solutions, simple things that can help us live a healthier, more fulfilling life. And those are the type of products that we offer at therabotanics. I used to have to go to the bathroom every 20 minutes, with a degree of urgency i no longer feel. I now can go three, four, and i have gone five hours without stopping to use the restroom. Better bladder allowed me to gain control of my bladder. As a result, i get my life back. I never have leakage, i never not make it to the bathroom. I always have dry panties, something that i havent experienced in a long time. Dr. Hyman, weve established that this is a really common problem, and one that really negatively affects a persons life. So tell us how this happens, what causes this . Sure, well, suzanne, lets start with the basics. This is a model of the bladder. Its like a hollow ball with thin walls of muscle. And its activated by our nervous system. As your bladder fills, its also stretching, and its the stretching that tells your brain its time to go to the bathroom. Only then, at that specific moment, when your bladder begins to contract does urine come out, and that is normal bladder activity. A calm, quiet, tranquil bladder that remains at rest the vast majority of the time. Now sometimes, when it because agitated, it contracts when it is not supposed to. That is what i like to call an irritable bladder. And when your bladder becomes irritable or agitated, yoght art thng t g to the bathroom even when your bladders only partly full. Or it could be even more urgent. I dont care if i miss the movie, i gotta go. And it can become so strong that you actually, omg, im leaking. Well how does better bladder help this
