So everyone is adapting to the july 4th holiday ahead of the pandemic. And response that everyone is trying to figure out what to do here. So here in morgan hill, this is home to one of the longest running parades in california. They have now moved it online and its going to be virtual this year. And so here were again waiting for yet another big announcement from Governor Newsom. This time on july 4th. And now were expecting him to get tough on masks. The governor said yesterday that if people are not going to stay home and theyre not going to wear masks, then there will be some kind of increased enforcement. The state has seen a 43 increase in covid hospitalizations over the past two weeks. And in particular the governor mentioned it was indoor Family Gathering like cookouts and birthday parties that have been a growing source of covid19 transmissions. Not just out in you know streets or people are protesting. And the like. Its specifically Family Gatherings. Where family members or rather households extended and immediate family members begin to mix and they take down their guard moving into a weekend where Family Gatherings are part of the tradition. Of fourth of july. And so were going to need to do more expressing our concern about that and messaging more about the seriousness of face coverings and physical distancing. Reporter and down in southern california, Los Angeles County announced they are closing their beaches over the Holiday Weekend. No word yet on the beaches or state parks or anything like that happening up here in the bay area. But expect that to change as the week goes on. And its recording about 50 new cases a day and an average of 5. 8 for every 100,000 residents. Thats right near the threshold to make the states watch list. Clearly, we are not in total control right now. I would not be surprised if we go up to 100,000 a day. Cases in the United States shot up by 80 in the past two weeks with new hot spots flaring far from the sun belt epicenters. Researchers from the Geneva University hospital surveyed 23 children ranging in age from 7 days old to 16 years old who tested positive for covid19. All but two carried the same amount of virus as adults. And thats why medical experts say children should be considered as transmitters unless proven otherwise. This morning, were learning what school will look like in the fall if doors are allowed to reopen in Santa Clara County. New guidelines released just yesterday include stable classrooms or no mixing and moving of students. Stable seating arrangements, social distancing of desks, adults will be required to wear face coverings at all times on campus along with students. Only Elementary School students can take them off in the classroom the new guidelines apply to all 31 School Districts in Santa Clara County but some parents say theyre still hesitant about sending their children back to school. Theyre just not enough information. You are just going in there blindly and kind of almost seems like you are a guinea pig. Some classrooms will be removing furniture desks will be now in rows facing the front so theyre not facing each other. What were learning so far with covid is that Young Children arent sort of the engines of transmission as they are with flu. We heard officer interviewing the lady inside the restaurant and saying she got her car stolen at gunpoint and another patron said the guy fired three shots in the air. Nobody was hurt and the suspect took off driving south on highway 1. Deputies found the car driving on west cliff drive in santa cruz when it went off the road into the ocean. Deputies took the suspect into custody. Its unclear though whether he was pulled out of the water or if he jumped out before the vehicle went off the cliff. So something you definitely want to plan for. Now as we take a look at the roadways right now, jumping over to our maps, i can tell you that traffic is moving nicely out of marin county. With no delays and we did have some Early Morning road work on the southbound side of 101 heading into the city near the waldo grade. But as you can see in our sensors all that has been cleared so no delays everything moving nicely at the Golden Gate Bridge with no troubles but yeah the fare increases are kind of tough sometimes. Westbound 580 out of tracy. Its stacked thumb morning. Thats the usual slowing pattern from Mountain House to grantline. Slowest spot off the 580205 connector. So if you are headed past that though, into the livermore valley, working you way to 680, traffic looks good and no troubles on 68 o in both directions.
