This is a pretty densely populated area in San Francisco, this is mission bay. You can see oracle park just a block away with the giants play. This is channel street between third and fourth and you can see there are condominiums here, gus mark it on the next corner and right there halfway down the sidewalk, that is for animal control officials were able to capture that Mountain Lion. Reporter kpix 5 photographer brian kiley captured this moment early this morning. A Mountain Lion carefully scampering back and forth on a San Francisco sidewalk. Animal control officials cornered him, then slowly and bravely put a net over him and got him into a cage. They decided not to use a tranquilizer dart because the creature was young, perhaps 10 months to a year old and they were worried the tranquilizer could prove fatal. Animal control officials believe its the same Mountain Lion spotted on russian hill and other parts of the city in the last 48 hours. They say its very rare to see a Mountain Lion in the heart of the city like this. They might come up to the peninsula and they look around and they say wow, this is not where i want to be in they turn around and go back. What is unusual in the situation is how long it stayed. The Mountain Lion was taken to oakland zoos veterinary hospital where he was examined. Officials say he was in good shape, robust, a good body shape. They dont think he was out of his normal environment for long, just a couple of days. They say he arrived at the zoo upset, frightened, and aggressive. They think he may be related to a female Mountain Lion killed on 101 in San Francisco a few days ago. He now has a tracking collar so they can monitor him. Unfortunatelys we see a fair number of orphaned Mountain Lions in california due to the death of their mothers and they really stick with their mom until they are often about two years old so we take those babies here and rehabilitate them and place them. Reporter they are now in the process of releasing the Mountain Lion back into the wild after an amazing exhibition of bravery, those animal control officials are fearless. They are. And that outline, a lot of folks online really falling in love with this little guy, a lot of love for the big cat. And i understand they have actually named him. Reporter they have nicknamed him and did a quick job of it. They called him mr. San francisco. They were admittedly kind of busy tending to his health and they said we can probably do better. We will see things return a bit closer to a normal pattern as we head through the next couple days. Coastal and bay adjacent fog developing later on tonight. Some of that she is developing already. Remaining hot inland and through most of the 7day forecast. A little bit cooler by the water thanks to some of that coastal fog, the onshore breeze reasserting itself. Above average temperatures will continue through the weekend. Is just a matter of how far above average. Here is some of that fog trying to sneak through the golden gate. You cannot call it fullfledged fog just yet but you can see it reducing visibility a bit. 76 in the city, 77 in oakland, otherwise low to mid 90s. This is the hottest weather we will see in this stretch over the next seven days but these temperatures inland, especially with the next several degrees warmer than we were yesterday and it was already toasty yesterday. A couple degrees cooler in oakland, only 77 at the moment, exactly the same in palo alto. But those temperatures inland definitely took off with the full sunshine overhead and very dry air allowing air to heat up very quickly. Temperatures tonight so drop off. The dry air also cools off once the sun goes down just after 8 30. Mostly mid to upper 60s around 60 degrees by early sunday morning. Its not going to be a breezy day tomorrow. 1030 mileperhour winds, we can handle that. But it is going to be in onshore breeze and that will help moderate temperatures at least to some extent. It will not be as hot inland and temperatures closer to normal around the bay and the coast. Lets get into the details, High Temperature some are running about 470 degrees above average. Still in the 70s so average in the 60s, we are about that. Closer to 10 degrees above normal as you go inland. Lets zoom around and show you what we expected mid to upper 60s along the coast. As you reach around 70 degrees today. Just above 90 as you go further into the santa clara valley. The trivalley mostly around 90 degrees, within a degree or two on either side with the hottest temperatures in eastern contra costa county. Near the bay low to mid 70s around the city and then the upper half of the 70s on the east side of the bay and low to mid 80s for the north bay. A little toast your around napa where fire danger still somewhat elevated compared to surrounding areas. And is still going to be hot further north. Lake and mendocino counties reaching the 90s, 9070 degrees around ukiah. We will get a relief from the heat as we go into the weekend. The fathers day brings marcy into inland areas. Spots reaching to the mid80s already by noon on sunday and low 90s for highs. Around the bay more of a moderate climb to those temperatures. 70 degrees by noon, low 70s for highs. Temperatures near the coast mid 60s by noon, thats about as far as they go for the onshore breeze will control temperatures and we are not going to change a lot as we go through the rest of the 7day forecast.
