The hardest hit are santa clara, San Francisco, and alameda counties. Tonight, San Francisco is rushing to contain a coronavirus outbreak that hit the largest homeless shelter. The city is moving Homeless Individuals into hotels now. Wilson walker tells us that it is a major undertaking, the likes of which the city has never seen. Reporter when you cannot crowd people into buses, you need more buses. The fleet behind me is taking people out of San Franciscos homeless shelters, and into hotels. That includes the source of the citys largest single outbreak. Today, the citys largest homeless shelter looked very much like an emergency medical ward. The sheriffs deputys outside were in full protective gear and some residents, presumably those not infected, were ferried into hotels the city has secured to isolate avoidable populations. We had plans to staff up hotel rooms as rapidly as we possibly can, in case an outbreak occurred. Reporter for weeks the number of city supervisors and homeless advocates have been pushing for broader use of hotel rooms ahead of such an outbreak. We need to move people into hotels now. It is absolutely inevitable we will have outbreaks in our shelters, it is impossible not to. Reporter the Mayors Office resisted that approach, using hotel rooms on a more technical scale, arguing the city nhave homeless at large and i will. If you cannot selfcare, you will still come inside somewhere, but we need more care wrapped around for you to be that or for that to be successful. Everything from monitoring, to security, to medical, to counselors, to all of the supplies that need to be on site. That we can feed people, clean the rooms, do the laundry pick reporter the city will continue to focus on the most vulnerable in city shelters, they admit the challenges tremendous. We are talking about thousands of people, and if you include our sros thats tens of thousands of people, so, this is, this is a task. Moving into these are moving these individuals into shelters is a task that has never before faced our city in the scale and magnitude. Reporter we have been talking about the sheltered homeless now what about the citys on sheltered homeless . There are discussions about a possible designated site for the 10th tents now lining the sidewalk of the area over in the tenderloin. In Contra Costa County officials are eyeing a public site that could be used to treat public covid 19 infections. The fairgrounds in antioch could turn into a covid19 Patient Care Center if extra capacity is needed. The site would be able to handle 43 patients, three other sites in the county are currently being transformed into covid19 care centers. Health Officials Say the antioch fairgrounds would be the last to open. Governor newsom reminding people to abide by the shelter and place orders during easter weekend. As a result, many state and regional parks are closed to cars this weekend. Barricades are closing off access to they were also banning picnics, or barbecues at the park. And a similar situation at the regional Recreation Area in oakland. The lot is closed. We spotted only a few people walking and on bikes. Up in marin county Sheriffs Office began enforcing the parking restrictions targeting nonessential travel through parks and open spaces that was in response to a growing number of people visiting marin county from out of town. Citations will carry a 100 fine our violators. New rules are in effect at the Golden Gate Bridge to promote physical distancing this holiday weekend. The Golden Gate Bridge district is closing the south end parking lots and the vista point parking lot to prevent overcrowding. The south end parking lots are closed this weekend until 7 00 a. M. On monday. Meanwhile, the vista point lot will be closed from 10 30 a. M. Until 6 30 p. M. Today and tomorrow. Right now, 74 miles of streets gdents to walk and bike. The idea is to get people outdoors but giving them enough room for social distancing. The closures will focus on streets that have already have bike lanes, and stretches from rocky ridge, to west oakland. People who live on the streets, and delivery drivers, will still be allowed to drive on them. Across the u. S. When Police Arrived around 2 00 this morning, the suspects reportedly stole a bunch of cigarettes and then sped off in an suv. They crashed into a tree near san bruno and san mateo avenue. One suspect was arrested, but several others got away. In San Francisco a string of burglaries in the outer richmond, four restaurants were vandalized within a four block stretch of balboa avenue yesterday. Each business had a front window broken. Police say four Tablet Computers were taken from one of the restaurants. Two others had cash stolen. Authorities are trying to figure out if all of the burglaries are connected. The seismic activity began about 7 00 this morning with a magnitude 5. 2. It was in the vicinity, at least of people as far as the bay area reporting feeling the shaking. The quake was followed by a series of aftershocks, with the strongest registering at 4. 7. There is no reports of damage, the nearest town is 30 miles away from the epicenter. I want to take a slightly more detailed look on exactly where that was. There were some of us here in the bay area who reported to the usgs that it was felt and you can do that online if you go to their website. They have a big did you feel it . That helps us keep track. Look at the map over my shoulder. You see the red star . That is where the earthquake happened. The biggest one, the 5. 1 around 7 30, way on the other side of the state. But anyway you see a colored area is where someone reportedly felt it. What happened here in the city and the east bay, there is a scale. These collars are the very lowest scale of we kind of barely felt something miles. The usgs has su these are not false reports, you cannot call up and say i felt something to try to mess with the report. It is legitimate, it was very mildly felt a 7 30 this morning. As far as as these clouds that is what looked like over the city. You get down to the south bay and we have artie gone into a break in the clouds. The sky overhead there. As a result, 62 for san jose. 58 in San Francisco. Concord, youre looking at sunshine. If we look at the satellite imagery, you can kind of see how there is this little opening in the clouds that shows up there for the south bay. Everybody else still looking at gray. We will do this again tomorrow. So, as gray as things were for you on saturday, plan on it being pretty close to that on sunday. Look at the time up there. That is sunday morning before sunrise. And, this marine layer, mid level stratus clouds came in and covered most of the air. Even gotten back into central valley. Then you will see a little bit of an offshore pickup, clear the clouds out a little earlier tomorrow. So, itll still be gray, but we will get a little bit more blue sky on sunday. In between now and then here in the morning lows. Right down to around 50. Daytime highs are very similar to where we were today, although, actually about five degrees. We would go to quite the warm up because these numbers take is anywhere from four to five of where today was. Concord made it to 64 today but tomorrow, you may warm up into the mid70s, and you can see there is quite a warm up from there to get us into early next week. Similar story for san jose. As we come back into the bay, look at how different the experience for oakland. Still a warmup, but not quite as drastic. There is San Francisco, also warming up as well with into the low 70s. If you look at the seven day forecast you can see the increase there over the next few days. Certainly by the time that we got to tuesday and wednesday is when we will peak. Near 80 for inland spots, low 70s for much of the bay, the clouds do increase a little bit by the time we get to friday and saturday of next week but not enough that there is a chance of rain yet. We will keep a close eye back to their past the weekend for saturday, and sunday fingers crossed, we can always deal with a little bit more rain coming our way. Does not look like a major storm, but we will have update on that as we get closer to it. Coming up in sports, there may be no masters this weekend but tiger woods is carrying on a masters tradition.
