Reporter the tip credible enough for police to turn the store into a dig site, which forced its closure today and sent shock waves throughout the small and safe community. Its troubling because, you know, you kind of wonder how they picked that spot and why. You know, you have to imagine, did they have connections or was it somehow related to construction going on . A ups employee is behind bars tonight after threatening to shoot up his work place. 32yearold Thomas Andrews was arrested after a short chase on highway 101 last night. He allegedly sent Text Messages to his employer threatening a mass shooting at the ups facility in sunnyvale. In his home police found an arsenal of weapons and over 20,000 rounds of ammunition. Ive never come across a residence, and ive been a detective working on patrol, with that ammunition. Thats a lot. So far no word on a motive. A spokesperson for ups told us theyre aware of the situation and are cooperating with police. The bay area reporting 4 additional cases of the coronavirus today. That brings the total number of local cases to about two dozen. 2 of the new patients are in santa clara that now has 9 total. 1 in san mateo county, 1 in Sonoma County. A man that recently went on a cruise from San Francisco to mexico. That prompted the county to declare a local emergency. There are now at least 100 cases of the virus in 15 states across the united states. Washington state announced 4 additional deaths today. Meantime President Trump is trying to fast track nearly 8 billion in emergency funding to help states with medical costs. And Nursing Homes might be particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus. Patients live very closely together and often have compromised immune systems. And privately owned Nursing Homes are notorious for cutting staff and having lesser trained folks working. Up until now testing meant sending a sample to the cdc in atlanta which could take a week to get back, but the Health Department will begin testing patients here in San Francisco with a one day turn around.
