At least 8 are here in Northern California. 8400 more people being monitored for symptoms, and just a little while ago, we learned the Fairfield Unified School District was told by the cdc to prepare for a possible outbreak. Health officials are now trying to find out how the woman got infected. Nothing so far has surprised us. Nothing. What happened in Solano County did not surprise anybody. Reporter Governor Newsom says Health Experts are prepared to handle the first person to person transmission of coronavirus in Solano County. State Health Officials say theyre identifying the people the patient came in contact with. We have, um, identified family members of the individual, and they are in isolation pending testing. Theyll remain in quarantine for the 14 days since the last exposure to the patient. The patients work place has been fully addressed as well. Reporter Health Officials say the infected woman came to north bay vacaville hospital on february 15th with flulike symptoms. Because she did not travel to a virus hot spot or have close contact with someone who did, hospital officials did not test her for coronavirus. After her health continued to decline, she was transferred to Uc Davis Medical Center 4 days later. She tested positive for the coronavirus. Because the patient did not initially meet the criteria for testing, she was not in isolation initially meaning there were multiple Health Care Personnel who were exposed to the individual. Reporter 2 colleges in nearby sacramento have sent home 2 students for quarantine o the infected woman. Its believed they were working as Health Care Providers and treated the woman at the hospital. I have a disabled wife on dialysis right now, and any type of thing thats going around, shes down there and hooked to the equipment, that could be transmitting this stuff. Im scared to death.
