This is that the Marathon Petroleum factory in carson and it is the largest refinery on the west coast. Flames, at least 100 feet in the air, and at one point the 405 was close. It has three open. There was an explosion reported in a cooling tower before it broke out at 11 00 last night. People as far away as glendale and studio city heard the explosion. Right now firefighters are still on scene making sure it is secure and trying to investigate the cause. The city of richmond will now look more proactively into what is causing flaring at the chevron refinery. The Council Voted unanimously last night. Here is the video.
