Im Mike Bloomberg and i approve this message. We are standing by with the local forecast, darren what is going on . Would focus on two things. It is called the that is the first thing and that is tomorrow morning and after that, the next storm is getting here, second half of the day on saturday, we are not still done with the first one but the next one is already in the forecast, and it looks good. First issue first, here is the freeze warning. Take a look at the areas in red, that is where this is located, this is a north bay issue. Freeze warning starts night at 10 00, and then expires tomorrow morning at 9 a. M. For the area in red which are basically the valleys of sonoma and napa county. If i put some numbers in there look at the 24 for santa rosa. The 24 for healdsburg, those are your morning lows going down to 32, petaluma 31, we call mr. Freeze warning because were going to get down below the freeze mark by more than just a degree or two, you go well below it and stay there for a few hours and that is where we start about protecting pets, bringing them in, plans plants that you care about. Outdoor pipes, now heres why were just focusing on the north bay heres our 24 for santa rosa. Look at everyone else this is definitely a cold night but it is not 24 degrees cold, for most of us thatll be isolated to those north bay valleys that are kind of sheltered, and dont have access to much airflow, they certainly dont have much direct access to the bay and you have the cold air settle in. Were also not done with the storm in terms of the ability to give a stray shower on friday, look at the time there. That is friday as we get into the afternoon, maybe a spotty hit in the shower get some better covered by the time we get into the evening. Then, for the north bay, it doesnt rain in those locations at those times but the idea is we are not done, still a few isolated showers possible for friday. Those are your daytime highs, staying in the low to mid 50s and still will be cold. Now lets look at issue number two and that is the next warm coming away, time frame appear. We are looking very early saturday, 2 a. M. Theres a wall of rain on here, i will play that forward. Watch the way this comes together, we noticed the showers by saturday afternoon but look at the pattern in the rain, you can see how there is almost like a hose right here . A firehose pointed right up at the coast. That is what we mean when we say an Atmospheric River behind the storm those are those narrow ribbons of higher concentration of water vapor pointed at a very specific spot. Heres the challenge with him an Atmospheric River they can bring a lot of rain, if theyve got good aim. This one right here is aimed much at the southern part of the bay area. But, all that has to do is shift like 30 or 40 miles to the north or 30 or 40 miles to the south, and this becomes a completely different forecast. So we are a little too far out to nail down the exact location and timing but here is the take away. At the time we get to tuesday, whatever rain we will have seen a starting to quiet down and when you look at the forecast on the totals, these are impressive. But you have to remember we just looked at three days worth of rain from saturday afternoon through tuesday or at least through monday, lets think of it in those terms. And it could rain continuously in that timeframe, if you get the Atmospheric River right. But itll move back and forth and tracking its movement will be the challenge. Just come away with this idea is a good amount of rain coming that will start saturday afternoon, go through monday. Theres a winter storm watch in this era im not talking about the storm we are dealing with now, we are looking ahead, look at the time frame.
