Developing news federal investigators are in Southern California hoping to determine what caused that deadly fire on the diving boat off the channel islands. Investigators boarded a similar boat owned by truth aquatics for a upclose inspection. They are check the layout of the boat and locking for clues to help the investigation. As for the boat named conception, the wreckage remains under water. Crews will try to stabilize the boats so divers can enter and recovering the remaining bodies of the 39 passengers and crew on board monday morning. Thirty four are dead or presumed dead. The fire began early monday morning. Coast guard and fire crews were sent to save the passengers and the crew. The fire was out by 5 a. M. And yesterday the search for survivors. Its going to be sad morning here in American High School. We have now learned that a los altos man and his daughter were on board that boat that deadly boat that caught fire at this point. He was a teacher we know. And ap physics teacher at American High School in fremont. His nape was Raymond Scott chan. And he was on board with his daughter kendra who is a marine biologist in Southern California. And he posted a picture on facebook of himself diving with the post my daughter lives in ventura and its an excuse to visit her. She was also on board this boat. I group scuba diving here in the channel islands. I would go with my dad every year. And i love it. I grew up fortunate to have parents that were both majored in science. Reporter that was video from u. S. Fish and wildlife talking about how she got her start in the field. Father and daughter shared the passion of diving and now the families are in mourning as well as likely people in fremont but at this point everyone on board was presumed dead. Fremont Unified School District says mr. Chan was beloved teacher, his students knew him to be an innovative and inspiring teach here developed a passion for physical, among his students. His loss is a tremendous tragedy. Hes been teaching here at American High School for three years. We will talk to the school later. So this is the projected path on dorian as it moves dangerously close to the georgia close coast and carolina coast and the cone of possibility does have the carolina coast for a possible landfall. So watching that very closely as we head through tomorrow and friday as a category 2 storm still by tomorrow and then a category one storm.
