We are making a lot of headway with our strike. Not a lot with the negotiations. Reporter they make 60,000 a year and one a 13 raise spread over three years. According to the teachers the district is offering only 12 1 2 over three years. They are half a percent apart. We are on strike for a living wage really. It is very expensive to live in Sonoma County. Reporter Superintendents Office is inside the Elementary School but would not go on camera. There will be a statement in the near future. The district is expanded its campus to include Westlake Middle School giving more students a pathway into a high performing school. School began in the shadow of a contentious strike and lengthy negotiations. After the teacher spent seven days on the picket lines back in february. The district agreed to 38 million in raises. Nearly double what they initially offered. But teachers say it is still not enough. Many openings remain vacant. In order to force those changes we were going to have to convince the district that business as usual could not continue. Probably the biggest concern we have is the expensive housing in oakland in the bay area. The housing is outrageous. The district also needs to come up with a plan to pay their teachers. Kaiser is saying it made a recent proposal to address the workers concerns.
