Reporter , every week, this is where Wayne Prodger would meet his friends to go on a motorcycle ride. Sometimes he would talk about flying, sometimes about life. Many times he would be right next to his best friend, his wife. They were high school sweethearts. Reporter she only knew him a few years, but that is all the time they needed to know that they love each other. I can imagine when you if you have been with someone that long. Reporter wayne and his wife jodi celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. On monday afternoon, tragedy struck. Wayne, a Flight Instructor, died in a Helicopter Crash. He was teaching a student how to fly. It was his own business. He was proud of wayne was supp to become a hog director on wednesday. They believe whatever happened on monday, wayne likely had no control over. He was in absolutely good Flight Instructor. He was very precise. He was always safe. Even when we were going fast, he was safe. He had a student who didnt pass the test that he had given him. s comment was, i will be flying tomorrow. And no he has certain criteria. Reporter it will likely be months before investigators find out what went wrong. Witnesses inside the air Traffic Control saw the chopper hovering before it crashed on its side. I want him to be remembered as many who lived life to his fullest. On wayne and his wifes 40th anniversary in 2017, wayne wrote, still lovers and best friends. I have been feeling like he is saying thank you for taking care of my family. He would probably be most concerned about his wife. Reporter next thursday night employees here at the san dedicate the monthly bike ride to wayne. They also plan to raise money for his family. As for the student involved in the crash, the condition is unknown. Within the hour we learned that three lanes of interstate 880 are back open hours after a monster pothole created a nightmare. The pothole was discovered in the southbound lane in oakland this afternoon after at least a dozen cars got flat tires. Repairs forced caltrans to close three lanes near jackson street just before the rush hour. That created massive backups that spilled over onto interstate 80 and 580.
