We are getting our first look at the two suspects accused of stabbing a young woman and leaving her for dead in Alameda County. 19yearold lizett cuesta used her last breath to tell authorities who attacked her. Betty yu reports. Reporter many people brought out flowers and candles to remember her. Whether they knew her from the state park, school or her job at the san jose airport, they said she was strong. People honored the life of 19 yearold lizette cuesta. She was often in san jose doing what she loved. She always would be falling and getting back up. Thats take a hard fall and get back up. She was a very happy person. Very happy person, very friendly, kind. Reporter the Alameda County Sheriffs Office says lizette was brutally beaten and stabbed before she was dumped near tesla road. She crawled some 100 yards before a Good Samaritan called 911. He got out and comforted her before paramedics arrived. She said she felt like she was going to die and i said no, youre going to fight, youre not going to lay down, youre going to be all right. As that was said, she got up. Reporter investigators say the last thing she was able to do was point them in the direction of her killers. An engaged couple 19yearold daniel gross and 25yearold Melissa Leonardo are behind bars. They were arrested in modesto. The night of the killing, Authorities Say all three got into the car together. Who would do that . Come to the house, call her to go have a drink, whatever, coffee, and then do that . Its just horrible. You know, its evil. Reporter lizette had moved to tracy to live with her father. I love her. Reporter back in san jose, mourners searched for comfort. The one thing that death cannot do even though its tragic and painful is take away the memories we have of liz. Reporter investigators say that the suspects and lizette all knew each other and were friend. They are now focusing on what happened from the moment she got in that car. In san jose, betty yu, kpix 5. Several San Francisco middle School Students are recovering this morning after a mysterious substance made them sick. Chopper 5 flew over the scene as ambulances were called to James Lick Middle School in noe valley yesterday afternoon. Officials say the students ingested a substance. They are not identifying it. The 10 children who got sick, one student had of the 10 children who got sick, one student had more symptoms than the rest. Could this be drugs . We dont know. We want to make sure that the people who are treating the students have an opportunity to examine what it might be. The school did put out a notice to parents that more children may get sick and, if so, they should alert authority. Some Southwest Airlines passengers have arrived safely in hawaii after a terrifying flight out of sfo. It made an Emergency Landing yesterday afternoon after a 5. 5 hour journey. Joe vazquez reports. The plane just jolted and then started to shake. Reporter passengers quickly looked out their windows and captured this shocking sight on their cell phones. The engine was missing its cover shards of metal flew off as the plane kept going. We were praying because we had never gone through this experience. [ crying ] and i thought we were going to die. He cannot his sense of humor postering this photo he kept his sense of humor posing this photo saying, i didnt see anything about this in the manual. Other passengers were emotional. People were crying. I think we were bracing for the worst like what if this actually lands on the water . Reporter as they approached honolulu the Flight Attendant told everyone to brace firm to packet. United 775 landed safely. When we landed everyone clapped and people were crying. We were happy to land safely. Reporter the engine coverings the cowling, came off midflight. The faa and ntsb are investigating. They landed smoothly. Those pilots should get an amazing award or something because we all landed safely and incredibly smoothly. It was amazing. When we were leaving the plane, they shook everybodys hand. They looked them straight in the eye. It was comforting and they were so brave. And we were so brave, too. It was awful. A lot of families with little children. It was awful. So our temperatures are actually pretty cool right now but just wait until next week. Sunday into monday morning, we are expecting lows to be down to the 20s and 30s. M. So another 20 minutes or so. Right now, doesnt look like too many people are using that route but they have a detour in place for you. [ music ] Police Arrested 35yearold wakeen best at polk and bush sunday morni we are getting a look at the man charged with killing a dog in San Francisco. Police arrested 35yearold joaquin best at polk and bush. He allegedly broke into a car on the 7th floor of a parking garage on stockton street and inside the car was a 4yearold chihuahua. Police say dashcam video shows the suspect throwing this dog on the street below. Best is facing animal cruelty and burglary charges. Berkeley is now the countrys first sanctuary city for cannabis. S. Attorney general Jeff Sessions recently announced the Justice Department would no longer follow the last marijuana enforcement policies of the obama administration. Were not going to let, um, a federal government come in here and try to roll back the clock. The genie is out of the bottle. Their access to whatever they want wont be impeded by the federal government. Under the resolution, city staff can be directed not to cooperate with federal enforcement of marijuana laws including any raids on dispensaries. Not all bay area cities are as open to marijuana. A budding shop has its eyes set on marin county but has to get around a citywide ban first. Andrea nakano reporting from san anselmo on the push for pot. Now that Recreational Marijuana is legal in california, he has his sights set on opening the first dispensary in san anselmo. It would also be the first in marin county. I want people to come to the town, to come to see the shop, to see this incredible cannabis to enjoy the experience. Reporter he says he is receiving a lot of support from neighboring businesses like valente and company. I would love for it to happen here in a mature manner where, um, it would be guided by the people that live here as a responsible, um, opportunity. Reporter but newly elected City Council Member Brian Colbert says the response is overwhelmingly negative. They just dont feel that its a good fit for san anselmo. Reporter in a Small Community tucked away in marin county, parents are some of the biggest opponents. I think its too busy of an area, too many kids returning around. I dont think its the best idea to have Something Like that right visible in town with so many young kids. Reporter right now, two of the five City Council Members back his plan for a marijuana dispensary. Take a pause for the cause with a jay at the end of the day doesnt hurt anybody. Reporter he would have to get one more vote to get a Zoning Ordinance amendment to be able to convert his Current Business into a recreational pot store. Thats a change one Council Members says is necessary to revive the san anselmo economy. Thats why its a risky first step. But you have to start. You start with a first step in any venture. Organizers in the Winter Olympics in south korea spent years trying to get everything perfect for the game but theres one thing they cant control and thats the weather. Its bringing rain and snow for the Pacific Northwest. There is a chance as it moves south it could bring us some sierra snowfall. But it will be very light. Heres the futurecast. Rain in los angeles. Clouds will come through and leave us alone by that time midday. Southern portions of the sierra could see some precipitation. There could be snowfall in the higher elevations. Not low snow. But its going to be a few flurries. Thats something to talk about because at least its a little change. High temperatures for today in the 50s and low 60s. We are where we should be today, around 60 for San Francisco. Well be a couple of degrees cooler. 62 san jose. Spot on for oakland and concord. Looking ahead, we are going to get a blast of cold air. But first, this High Pressure ridge is going to make a comeback. When it does, through thursday, friday, saturday our temperatures will be on the rise. You will notice by saturday we are going to be in the low 70s. And then sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday, look how cold its going to get. We are going to get a lot of cold canadian air. So we could wake up to temperatures in the 30s and 20s monday through wednesday morning. It will be chilly starting next week. So enjoy this warmer weather. Temperatures in the 70s through saturday.
