you're really excited about this year, but the tone is different than last year. what's the tone like this year? . >> so last year, we were reacting. we were mobilizing everybody that wanted their voice heard. this year is a call for action. we're asking people to vote. we're asking people to run for office. elect women of color. and, you know, just make sure that we're changing policies. >> reporter: already from the year, since last year's women's march, you've seen a number of women actually say, "i plan to run for congress and statewide office." i believe more than 600 women have said they want to sign up. what's that like for you guys? . >> well it's great. it's great to see the change in how people are approaching politics, right? they're doing more than just writing about it or talking about it. they're actually acting on it. >> reporter: and a lot of women, for the first time ever in their life, are getting involved politically. they're at home maybe right now, making signs. what do you say to them? how should they get involved? . >> that's part of how the women's march got started. a lot of organizers are new to this. we're here joining them, supporting them, bringing volunteers, bringing attention to their causes. so i think just come out and ask how you can help, what can you do. you know, come to our panels and hear what our speakers have to say. it's not just supporting women. it's also for allies to teach them how to be better allies. >> what are some of the number- one issues? people are coming out for a variety of issues from immigration to education. there's many issues. do you guys have some single issue that you're really focused on this year? . >> we have speakers from a variety of different causes, both activists that have been doing the work here locally for a long time, and also nationwide. so right now, i mean, we're focusing on homelessness in san francisco and trans rights, but also greater national conversations, like immigration. >> reporter: there's a big show down now in washington, d.c. with this government shut down. how does that play into what you're doing today? . >> we're glad to see the democrats set up for what they know is right and stood up for the dreamers. >> reporter: all right. all right. thank you so much, anna, for joining us. there are going to be a couple of street closures here, right? . >> yeah. >> reporter: so everything on the perimeter will be shut down. so we really want to encourage people to take public transportation here. you know, load up your cars ahead of time, park far away, and also mission street will be closed except for ride shares and buses. >> reporter: and so the march will start here at civic center at 2? . >> yeah. we will have a rally here at noon, and then start marching down market towards the embarcadero at 2 p.m. . >> reporter: there's also marchs in san jose and oakland starting earlier. this march starts at 2:00 p.m., but they will have a rally at noon here in front of city hall. back to you guys. >> thanks so much, jessica. if you are heading out to one of those marches around the bay today, we're starting off cool this morning. concord, 39 oakland. san francisco, a little bit warmer, 46. needless to say, you're going to want to bring a jacket with you if you're headed out to any of those marches early this morning. later today, though, plenty of sun. your weather headlines, chilly start with patchy fog out there. sun and clouds mixed nor your saturday, but we do have some rain headed our way late sunday. here's a look highs on the cool side, topping out in the 50s today. we'll talk more about your forecast coming up. but first how to get around all those marches. there are marches all over the bay today. in san jose, the march begins at 11:00 a.m. at city hall, and ends one hour later at arena green east near the fap center. . jacqueline dunn has your way around the closures and traffic there. >> reporter: all because senate democrats chose to filibuster a noncontroversial funding bill that contains nothing. not a thing they do not support. >> reporter: democrats were holding out for a comprehensive spending bill and a deal to protect dreamers brought to the u.s. ill law schoolly as children. minority leader chuck shumer said his earlier meeting with president trump looked promising, but the president later backpedaled. >> he walked away from two bipartisan deals, including one today in which i even put the border wall on the table. >> reporter: the white house has branded this the shumer shut down. in an official statement, sarah huckabee sanders called the democrats obstructionist losers. it's unclear when the senate might vote on that and any deal would also have to pass the house. collin kaepernick," i thought he was playing. i said, "whatever." he said, "he wants to donate to your organization." i said, "right." so i hung up. >> understandable. half of the donation will help
