They sent these pictures flying over homes buried in mud. The team is assisting crews with search and rescue operations. A napa county landslide swept a car down a steep ravine killing the man inside between Wild Horse Valley road and vishey avenue near the atlas fire burn zone. The hillside was so unstable and treacherous rescuers had to close off the area and wait till daylight to rescue the car buried deep in the woods. A geologist was sent out to check the stability of that hillside and other trouble spots in the area. They say scorched land from the october wildfires mixed with the wet weather we had is the perfect recipe for the landslides. We actually have done a lot of work in the area recently after the fires to preventive measures. That includes rockslide prevention.
