senator al franken, a democrat, has apologized for inappropriate behavior and said he will cooperate with an investigation. franken is facing stiff criticism following accusations by a los angeles radio personality. hena doba is here in new york with more. hena, good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. reaction on capitol hill was swift after senator al franken was accused of inappropriate behavior. president trump who faced several sexual misconduct allegations himself during his campaign was also quick to speak out against franken. president trump is weighing in on the man accused. minnesota democratic senator and former comedian al franken. the president overnight tweeted in part the al frankenstein picture is really bad, speaks a thousand words, and to think that just last week he was lecturing anyone who would listen about sexual harassment and respect for women. the picture the president is referring to, a photography of franken before he was elected with his hands on the chest of a sleeping woman. that woman, leeann tweeden. >> i was sleeping and i woke up and he had his hands on my breasts. >> reporter: tweeden, a broadcaster and model was on her way back from a uso tour in 2006 when the photo was taken. she said earlier in the skit he forcibly kissed her. >> i pushed him off with my hand. i remember i almost punched him. >> franken says, there's no excuse. it isn't funny. it's quickly appropriate. >> both republicans and democrats were quick to denounce the allegation. lawmakers are calling for an ethics committee investigation. franken said he will fully cooperate. tweeden says she was inspired to speak out after hearing congresswoman jackie speier recount being sexually assaulted as a congressional aide. anne-marie? >> hena doba here in new york. thank you so much, hena. in alabama, republican senate candidate roy moore lashed out at his critics and the women who accused him of sexual misconduct. moore said he will not drop out of the senate race, and he continues to have the support of the alabama republican party. de-reynolds reports. >> i present to you the hero of the day, our valiant leader, judge ray moore. >> reporter: judge ray moore was in exceedingly friendly company hosted by conservatives across the country who thought the world of him. rusty thomas of operation save america. >> do not allow under any circumstances washington, d.c., los angeles, and new york dictate to you the outcome of this race. >> reporter: in brief remarks moore made clear he will not quit. >> you know, the "washington post" has brought some scurrilous, false charges -- not charges, allegations, which i have em fat ilkphatically denie and time again. >> reporter: but what was billed as a campaign turned into a frenzy of unanswered questions about allegations with moore. he walked away from the questions but not the controversy. he retains the backing of the alabama republican party but the national gop wants little or nothing do with him with one senator after another supporting his accusers while mulling ways to block his path to washington. >> i think the evidence is becoming overwhelming that he had a problem. >> reporter: for the second straight day, president trump who had allegations of impropriety lodged against him in last year's campaign, passed up a chance to join the debate over moore's fate. later press secretary sarah sanders came down somewhere in the middle. >> the president believes that these allegations are very troubling and should be taken seriously and he thinks that the people of alabama should make the decision on who their next senator should be. >> reporter: a new poll suggests the controversy may really be hurting moore. it shows his democratic challenger doug jones now with an eight-point lead, 50% to 42%, which has long been a reliably republican state. dean reynolds, cbs news, birmingham, alabama. cbs news has learned some want to subpoena twitter to get all the messages from donald trump jr. and wikileaks. on monday trump junior released screen shots of what he says are messages between him and wikileaks beginning in september of 2016. meanwhile president trump's son-in-law jared kushner has until november 27th to provide additional documents to the senate judiciary. they include e-mails eninvolving wikileaks and a dinner. kushner is being pressed by the committee which says he is holding back about his contact with the russians. the senate finance committee approved a republican tax cut plan setting up a possible vote in the full senate after thanksgiving. that came after the house approved a $1.5 trillion rewrite. both the house and the senate versions cut the corporate tax rate to 20% and reduces personal knicks tax for many, but the senate committee vote came after several days of often testy debate. things got particularly nasty yesterday when utah's orrin hatch took it personally when ohio's share sherrod brown charged that the plan rewarded the rich. >> ferris, the satire and -- >> i'm going to say to you i come from the poor people and i've been here working my whole stinking career for people who don't have a chance, and i really resent anybody saying that i'm just doing this for the rich, give me a break. i think you guys overplay that all the time and it gets oil and frankly you ought to quit it. >> mr. chairman. % >> just a minute. i'm not through. >> so far one republican senator ron johnson said he will oppose the republican plan. republican leaders hope to have a bill on the president's desk before christmas. at least 20 people were injured when a massive fire swept through a senior living community about 35 miles west of philadelphia. the five-alarm fire broke out at the barclay friends nursing home last night. it quickly spread to several buildings, forcing residents into the streets. barclay says 140 people live at the senior home. in february barclay was cited with not being compliant with some fire safety requirements. the cause of the fire is under investigation. and a texas woman arrested on an outstanding fraud warrant said she was targeted because of an expletive billed anti-trump message posted on her pickup truck. she said she was picked up last night. she said the profane message about mr. trump and those who voted for him have gotten lots of attention and that the local sheriff suggested on facebook she could be charged with disorderly conduct. she said she believes her arrest was all about the sticker. >> i'm almost certain it does. especially with the people i've been talking with. i'm almost certain because people abuse the badge in my mind -- opinion and money talks. money on that end and on the other end too. >> she cede the siphon has been on her truck for nearly a truck and she does not plan to remove it. prosecutors haven't said whether they plan to retry senator bob menendez after his bribery trial ended in a hung jury. menend menendez, a new jersey democrat, was accused of selling influence in exchange for campaign contributions, vacations, and flights on a private jet. senator mitch mcconnell is calling for an ethics investigation. ohio state university suspended fraternity actions. ohio state is the latest school to crack down on greek life and it comes as the school investigates possible cases of hazing and alcohol abuse. were teenagers. russian president vladimir putin took crimea from ukraine three years ago and it looks like he plans to keep it forever, at least based on the bridge he's building. elizabeth palmer in russia. >> reporter: workers are racing to build a colossal bridge 12 miles long and strong enough to sustain ferocious winds, earthquakes, and ice. there is no doubt that this bridge is an engineering feat, a really impressive technical achievement, but it's also a bold political statement. the bridge will connect southern russia to the crimean peninsula which until 2014 belongs to ukraine. then in march of that year russian troops seized crimea. after a hasty referendum, president putin said it was now part of russia. at home he was hailed as a hero. outside he was condemned. even when america slapped on sanctions, he didn't back off. this $3 billion mega project shows he's doubling down on the land grab. this bridge will be the umbilical cord for russia. trains, trucks, and cranes will carry everything from food to tourists. already it's a source of pride and a local attraction. at a lookout on the shore, this man and his friends have come to marvel and pose for pictures. absolutely the bridge underlines that crimea is ours, he tells me, and we are never giving it back. officially america says russia has to do just that, give crimea back to ukraine to get the "wired" magazine support founds a security system found thieves can freeze the camera, get inside and get inside undetected. tesla the electric car company is getting into the truck business. the company unveiled its futuristic looking rig last night. the steering wheel is in the center of the the cap and allows drivers to stand if they want. tesla says it has a 500-mile range. a diesel semi can travel a thousand miles without refueling. and your thanksgiving dinner will cost you less this year. according to a farm bureau survey, the average cost of dinner for ten -- that's the turkey and note said the anonymous survivor was handing out 50 random acts of kindness to pay tribute to those killed in the attack. customers and the starbucks were moved by it. >> for somebody to be so kind of our top stories this morning, minnesota senator al franken has apologized after a los angeles radio personality accuse him of forcibly kissing and groping her in 2006. franken is facing criticism from both democrats and republicans and likely faces an ethics investigation. franken says that he will cooperate. and alabama republican roy moore's campaign is lashing out at the women accusing him of sexual misconduct. moore refuses to drop out of the senate race and continues to have the backing of the alabama republican party. two women claim moore initiated sexual contact with them while they were teenagers. russian president vladimir putin took crimea from ukraine three years ago and it looks like he plans to keep it forever, at least based on the bridge he's building. elizabeth palmer in russia. >> reporter: workers are racing to build a colossal bridge 12 miles long and strong enough to sustain ferocious winds, earthquakes, and ice. there is no doubt that this bridge is an engineering feat, a really impressive technical achievement, but it's also a bold political statement. the bridge will connect southern russia to the crimean peninsula which until 2014 belongs to ukraine. then in march of that year russian troops seized crimea. after a hasty referendum, president putin said it was now part of russia. at home he was hailed as a hero. outside he was condemned. even when america slapped on sanctions, he didn't back off. this $3 billion mega project shows he's doubling down on the land grab. this bridge will be the umbilical cord for russia. trains, trucks, and cranes will carry everything from food to tourists. already it's a source of pride and a local attraction. at a lookout on the shore, this man and his friends have come to marvel and pose for pictures. absolutely the bridge underlines that crimea is ours, he tells me, and we are never giving it back. officially america says russia has to do just that, give crimea back to ukraine to get the
