Now flames from the nuns fire getting very dangerously close to winding roads in napa county. Kpix 5s anne makovec just found out firsthand and joins us live. Scary situation. Dry creek road here behind me is closed to the public now but the media is allowed in at our own risk and this is what we found about a mile and a half up the road from where im standing which is the intersection of orchard avenue at around 4 a. M. Flames covering that hillside from the ground up to some of those tall trees. In between the roadway dry creek road and that fire, is homes. So that fire very close to spreading to those homes. Right now that area is under a voluntary evacuation. The problem is that dry creek is a tight and winding road. So getting out is not quick or easy and thats why we turned around directly after getting this video to our west meantime is the nuns fire. Now part of a complex of fires burning mainly in Sonoma County. Its burned 44,000 acres. Killed 15 people and destroyed more than 1,000 homes and other buildings. Its been burning since sunday night. Right now, it is only 3 contained. Now, add to that we have the atlas fire burning to our east. We have the partick fire burning to our southwest. Where im standing, i want to give you an idea in case you know somebody around here the evacuations being voluntary. Honestly, if i lived out there i would be leaving at this point. Basically, if you would draw a line between napa and yountville, we are about halfway in between those two and then a little bit to the west. Anne makevoc, kpix 5. Authorities are releasing the identities of those who died in the Northern California fires. Heres the list the Sonoma County sh it includes at least 17 in Sonoma County and two in napa county. The Sonoma County Sheriffs Department is using a cadaver dog to search through the rubble caused by the fires. The 3yearold boxer is helping crews look for the people who are still unaccounted for. And relatives of the miss having doing all that they can to locate their loved ones. Crystal is looking for her grandmother ellen and the womans husband bob. She has reason for optimism. Its hard to think about it. A lot of people lost a lot. They were seen leaving the house. The house is fine. Its likely they are fine just somewhere without cell service. Now, its hard to remember that. She is my grandmother. Im worried about it. I hope we find her soon. Authorities agree that many of the missing person reports could be linked to communication problems since the fires have hindered cell phone service. A church in los altos will hold a Public Prayer Service this evening for those affected by the fires. It begins at 7 p. M. At the church the holy redeemer on magdalena avenue. Today hopefully the weather will help the firefighters gain ground. Im glad to report that it is expected to stay calm and cool throughout the day. Its chilly in the 40s. Winds are calm. Clearlake 51 degrees not west winds at 4 with gusts up to 9, thats about, so thats not bad. But heres whats expected to happen. The lanes are clear on 101 button ramp to northbound 101 from river road that remains blocked due to this overturned streak we have been tracking. A tour bus and another vehicle got into it. They have two lanes blocked emergency crews on the scene and you can see that traffic really slows as you approach the scene of that crash below 20 Miles Per Hour and its backing up towards highway 84 vallecitos so keep that in mind now 12 minutes from andrade to south mission boulevard. No delays at el cerro through the stretch on 680 and both bores are reopened on eastbound 24 at the caldecott tunnel after a truck fire had shut them down. Some First Responders got to take a break from fighting the wildfires to attend a special dinner in santa rosa. A local Food Truck Company provided the free meals including ribs, pasta and Crispy Chicken sandwiches. The companys director says its the least he can do after emergency workers came from all over california to help. So many of us have friends that are officers in this community and we know they are taking time way from their families and dont know if their families are necessarily safe and they are out here working hour after hour to take care of us. So, you know, safety. It helps morale completely. You know, they come in and get a hot meal, they can come intake a break get a snack. We have food donations coming in from all over the community. But it keeps them going. It knows they are thought about cared about and the citizens appreciate the job they are doing. First responders at the event say ordinary residents have also offered them food and water during the past few days. And in the napa valley the Oakville Grocery has reopened and is feeding firefighters free of charge. And a local Coffee Company is offering free drinks for evacuees and volunteers. They set up a truck outside a shelter at Napa Valley Community college. Time now 5 08. Now the California Public Utilities Commission has sent a letter to the San Francisco based utility ordering pg e to preserve all records that could be related to the fire including information on failed power poles, conductors and associated equipment. The mandatory evacuation has been lifted for the areas silverado country club, Monticello Park and the avenues. Also on the list, areas west of silverado trail between hardman avenue and highway 128. Here in the bay area, police have made an arrest after two people were stabbed at an east bay bart station. 24yearold Craig Cuthbert of Salt Lake City turned himself in on wednesday. He was sleeping on a train on sunday morning, police say, when two men stole items from his backpack. A fight happened. Two people were stabbed at the lafayette station. And if you are heading into the north bay right now, 101, golden gate bridge, traffic moving at the limit in both directions but we just saw a large Police Response heading northbound. We are still working on trying to find out what exactly they were heading to but we dont see any accidents right along 101 moving well in both directions. We still have many closures in the north bay including portions of 128 and thats between chockhill road and napa Sonoma County line. It looks like your Traffic Cameras also look not as hazy today so thats good news. Once the sun comes out well start to see more smoke in the sky of course. And heres a look at the air quality map. The very latest information gathered by the folks at spare the air. It looks like santa rosa, napa, of course still very unhealthy, at least its moderate for san rafael, San Francisco and pacifica now. Redwood city, mountain view, san jose youre still in the unhealthy range even at this earlymorning hour. Some of that smoke settled into a lot of southern portions, valleys in between those hills, it looks like. The smoke likes to just sit there especially when the winds are calm. Our air quality forecast for the day in the very unhealthy range. Unhealthy for Santa Clara Valley so that means folks in the Sensitive Group senior citizens, anyone with asthma, may want to lay low but its a good idea to just keep it easy for the next few days until the smoke clears. It will take a few days but there is some hope in our seven day forecast. Heres a look now. You can see the bay bridge. Its nice to see some Clear Conditions out there for a change. So its nice to be below average today. Temperatures though are on the rise and we have a red flag warning in effect so by the time we get to tonight, there will be an increased fire threat out there specifically in these locations. So the north bay hills, marin county, also dealing with some high wind gusts especially between midnight to midday tomorrow. Our futurecast shows calm conditions until about later on tonight. 1 00, 2 00, things should stay calm. But by 5 to 7 00, they will pick up for santa rosa, san rafael. Well get the northwest winds first and then after midnight the northeast winds are coming down. Strong between 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour gusts up to 50 likely over those ridgetops. So unfortunately, thats when the fire intensity really will pick up. Between midnight to about noon. Then well be calm again by saturday afternoon into saturday night. High pressure will settle in for the next few days. So through monday, our temperatures will be warm. But look at this guy. Low pressure right here is going to bring us a chance of rain but its not going to get here until wednesday night into thursday. Heres that sevenday forecast.
