A refreshing day with great air quality. 67 degrees in stinson beach. 80 in napa. The weekend forecast is coming up. New this morning, fire crews are keeping an eye on hot spots after a home in redwood city went up in flames. Kpix 5s jackie ward is live at the scene with the very latest. Jackie. Reporter kenny, this was a big one. Just check out behind me how charred the house is. Its pretty much destroyed the roof burned off and some police and fire crews are on scene because they are worried this fire may flare up. The flames from this fire were quite something despite only being a onealarm fire. The call came in about 10 30 here on crompton road. Fortunately no one was home at the time. To add to the firefighters challenge a live wire came down in the back of the house. They got the fire under control in just over an hour. The redwood city and woodside Fire Departments did a really good job of keeping this fire from spreading. A few roads in the area have been blocked off to keep it clear for fire crews to come in and out of this morning. But no major traffic delays. Right now, we dont think there are any injuries, any firefighters and there are just a few Police Officers from redwood city being checked for possible smoke inhalation. Of course, the cause of this fire is still being investigated. In redwood city, jackie ward, kpix 5. A Memorial Service for a Police Officer killed in an off duty motorcycle crash. James braniks funeral will be this afternoon. It is open to the public. He died last tuesday after a pickup truck turned in front of his motorcycle. The crash happened on monterey highway near san martin. Its not clear why the truck driver turned in front of branik. And he has not been arrested. In oakland, an investigation is under way after a person died while in the custody of oakland police. Officers used a taser on the suspect. It happened yesterday afternoon near 41st and foothill boulevard. The person was in custody at the time. The coroner will determine the cause of death. Right now, roads are closed leading to the part of Yosemite National park where rock falls have struck multiple times and spelled tragedy this week. An incident that left a man injured yesterday happened very near the part of el capitan where a huge chunk of granite broke free on wednesday. That killed a man. Kpix 5s anne makovec joins us with the details. Anne. Reporter yesterdays rock fall was even larger than wednesdays. This comes at the peak of climbing season for el capitan and we now know the identity of the british tourist killed on wednesday, 32yearold Andrew Foster of wales and his wife were hiking at the bottom of the wall when a chunk of granite about 12 stories tall broke free and plunged down. Foster died. His wife is still in the hospital. And this latest rock fall yesterday happened in nearly the same location as wednesday. But it was at least three times as large. The smoke and dust filled the valley below. One man was injured and airlifted to the hospital. We heard the story from his wife. Something came through our sunroof. But we didnt know it was closed. We didnt know it was coming what happened but it shattered and the dust just poured in. Glass went flying from the sunroof. We were trying to out run it, go, lets go, and at the same time my husband reached up and he was like, oh, my head, my head. Because it was bleeding profusely and hurting. Now the governor will be in the bay area addressing this issue signing a package of 12 bills today in San Francisco. Now, heres the rundown of the bills. 4billion Affordable Housing ballot measure is one of the bills he will be signing putting that question to the voters. There will be a 75 fee on real estate transaction documents, that will increase revenue up to 300 million. Other bills will cut some of the red tape to help speed up Affordable Housing construction. But it will be years before there is relief because its estimated theres a shortfall of more than a million housing units. That governorthe governor will be in San Francisco in 11 a. M.
